NEW PROJECTOR FROM LG CREATES THEATER-LIKE EXPERIENCE IN EVEN THE SMALLEST ROOMS

Short-Throw LG Minibeam UST Projects
100-inch Full HD Picture at Only 38 Centimeters

The LG Minibeam Ultra Short-Throw projector model PF1000U.

SEOUL, Sep. 18, 2015 — This month, LG Electronics (LG) introduces a new projector, Minibeam Ultra Short-Throw (UST), capable of projecting a 100-inch image on a screen or wall from only 38 centimeters away. And at under two kilograms, the projector (model PF1000U) is transportable and easy to set up in any room of the house. Able to display Full HD resolution and brightness of 1000 lumens, the Minibeam UST is also extremely easy to use, a complete package that sets a new standard for personal projector technology.

To project a 100-inch picture, conventional projectors usually need to be positioned three to four meters from the screen or wall. This not only presents a problem for small living rooms, the power cord running from the projector to the outlet is unsightly and a safety hazard. What’s more, conventional projectors create a “no walk zone” in a large part of the living room between the projector and the screen. The LG Minibeam suffers from none of these limitations as a 100-inch display can be projected from a distance of only 38cm from the wall.

The benefits of the LG Minibeam UST don’t stop there. This projector also delivers an incredibly detailed, high quality picture. The picture quality is enhanced by the Triple XD Engine, a chip that is the result of LG’s 50 years of experience in the television industry. Able to display Full HD resolution (1920 x 1080), the projector employs a self-emitting RGB LED illumination system for the most natural shades and hues possible all the while running quietly at only 21dB in Eco Mode.

Although compact, the Minibeam UST is capable of replicating a near cinematic experience. With its Four Corner Keystone function, viewers can easily eliminate distortion even when the projector isn’t perfectly aligned with the screen. The Minibeam UST can also connect via Bluetooth to soundbars, portable speakers and wireless earphones for an immersive audio experience. The projector also comes equipped with a TV tuner as well as USB and HDMI inputs.

“LG’s new Minibeam UST projector delivers a 100-inch Full HD picture in a package that is easy to transport from room to room,” said Lee In-kyu, senior vice president and head of the TV and monitor division at LG’s Electronics Home Entertainment Company. “LG Minibeam UST makes it possible for every home and every room to replicate a real theater-like experience.”

The PF1000U will be released this month in Europe markets, to be followed by countries in North America, Africa and the Middle East in October.

LG Smart ThinQ™ allows users to download, update and share recipes with friends and relatives via their smartphones, tablets and other smart devices. The LG STUDIO oven is NFC-enabled, which automatically sets the mode, temperature and time for a given recipe after tagging a smart device to the oven. LG’s advanced Inverter Linear Compressor has been re-designed to be more compact and to seamlessly integrate into the premium LG STUDIO refrigerator. Inverter Linear Compressor technology enables the LG STUDIO refrigerator to be an industry leader in energy savings, freshness, low noise levels, capacity and durability. TrueSteam™ discharges high-temperature steam particles directly at food particles to melt them away, leaving dishes immaculately clean. Temperature and pressure are managed by the dishwasher’s built-in steam generator, which has a delicate touch yet is powerful enough to eliminate even tough stains so there’s no need to pre-wash dishes or cups by hand.

LG STUDIO Induction & Gas Cooktop: The Complete Kitchen

The LG STUDIO induction cooktop features Touch Slide Control which allows all functions including heat levels to be adjusted from an intuitive and easy-to-clean ceramic control panel. The gas cooktop features dual front controls, which free up more space for preparing one’s favorite dishes, as well as a flame failure safety device, which gives homeowners peace of mind by preventing gas leaks when the flames go out.

Speed Oven: Professional Cooking Quality at Your Fingertips

The Speed Oven is equipped with a Charcoal Lighting Heater™ which emits a rapid flow of intense heat to reduce cooking time. Compared to conventional built-in ovens, LG’s Speed Oven can prepare a 1.5kg pork roast 74 percent faster, while still delivering crispy-on-the-outside, yet juicy-on-the-inside results due to the Charcoal Lighting Heater’s fast heat dispersion. The Speed Oven’s interface is interactive and features the Auto Menu function which offers a wide range of pre-set modes to help prepare one’s favorite dishes with a minimum of fuss and preparation. And the full stainless design makes it an ideal, premium-looking addition to any kitchen.

“Our kitchen appliance package is ideal for those who relish the culinary arts, take pride in interior décor and of course, love spending time in their kitchens,” said Jo Seong-jin, president and CEO of the LG Electronics Home Appliance and Air Solutions Company. “The convenience of LG STUDIO’s portfolio becomes most apparent for those who spend much time in their kitchens. LG UNVEILS HOME ENTERTAINMENT STRATEGY AT IFA 2015

LG Focuses on Furthering Innovation in
Global Premium TV Market with OLED TV Leading the Way

The awe-inspiring LG OLED TV ZONE at IFA 2015.

BERLIN, Sep. 6, 2015 — Speaking at a roundtable at IFA 2015 in Berlin, a top official of LG Electronics (LG) revealed the company’s plan to sell five times as many OLED TVs in the second half of 2015 than it did in the first half with the aim of making LG OLED the new standard of TV by the end of the year.

With a goal of selling more than one LG OLED TV per minute, Brian Kwon, executive vice president and CEO of LG’s Home Entertainment Company, cited four overarching marketing directions designed to solidify LG’s leadership role in the home entertainment market: 1) leading the global OLED TV Market with an expanded OLED TV lineup, 2) conducting enhanced marketing campaigns to expand OLED TV’s market penetration, 3) strengthening its dominant position in the smart TV platform business and 4) enhancing profitability in the audio video product segment.

Expanded OLED TV Lineup

With the world’s first high dynamic range (HDR)-enabled 4K OLED TVs, LG will incorporate HDR technology in more of its OLED TV lineup, Kwon said. LG’s 4K OLED TV is expected to attract new customers with its impressive design which measures only 4.8 mm at its slimmest point. With a host of new functions, design features and display formats, LG will provide a wider selection of OLED TVs to suit the tastes of different customers. LG is confident that the announcement of OLED TV products from other manufacturers will accelerate the adoption of OLED TV by more and more consumers and expand this segment led by LG within the TV market.

Enhanced Marketing Campaigns

Kwon explained that the company will invest in a variety of marketing campaigns to increase international sales of its OLED TVs with product introduction tours and OLED displays at major airports in the world, among other initiatives. LG is confident that strong reviews of LG OLED TVs from product testing organizations and media outlets will drive more interest in consumers.  One U.S. publication named LG’s OLED TV as this year’s best TV, and LG’s model 65EG9600 beat top TVs from competitors to be crowned the 2015“King of TV”in a head-to-head shootout run by Value Electronics, a U.S. electronics retailer.

Strengthening the Smart TV Platform Business

LG will continue to expand its popular webOS platform with more smart TV content from partners such as Netflix and YouTube, movies from local content suppliers and a range of new applications, according to Kwon. The company will kick off an HDR content streaming service for webOS 2.0-enabled smart TV users in partnership with Amazon and roll out its free upgrade for webOS 1.0 users which includes enhanced features available in webOS 2.0.

Enhancing Profitability in Commercial Displays and Audio-Video

LG aims to expand its market presence and enhance its profitability in the monitor, digital signage and audio-video business. With an unparalleled digital signage product lineup led by ultra-thin videowall displays with the world’s slimmest bezel-to-bezel design of less than 2 mm, LG intends to secure its reputation as a major provider of premium display solutions, Kwon said. The company will also aggressively push its high-end monitor products such as the 21:9 flat and curved monitors with 4K resolution. LG will expand its Bluetooth audio products with a lineup that adds to the Music Flow curved soundbar and portable speakers unveiled at IFA 2015.

LG TEAMS UP WITH AMAZON TO OFFER STREAMING HDR ON WEBOS SMART TV PLATFORM

2015 LG OLED 4K TVs Will Deliver Highest Quality Content,
Best Viewing Experience Available with HDR Streaming

Apps provided by LG webOS are displayed on an LG Smart TV’s display.

BERLIN, Sep. 3, 2015 — LG Electronics today announced the launch of High Dynamic Range (HDR) streaming on 2015 LG OLED 4K TVs, allowing consumers to enjoy exceptional HDR picture quality streaming directly via the Amazon Video app, available on LG’s webOS Smart TV platform. Amazon Video is the first provider delivering HDR content on LG OLED 4K TVs, offering the highest picture quality and most comfortable HDR viewing experience on the market.

Beginning today, popular and award-winning Amazon Original Series Transparent and Mozart in the Jungle as well as the pilot episode of upcoming comedy series Red Oaks are now available to stream on HDR on LG’s latest OLED 4K Ultra HD TVs, including the just-announced EF9500 Flat OLED 4K TV series, some EG9600 and EG9200 models and the Curved OLED 4K TV series. The EF9500 series comes with full HDR capability built in, allowing consumers to play back HDR content from both streaming content partners and external source devices. LG’s EG9600 series received a firmware update so consumers can stream content from current and future providers.

According to the Consumer Electronics Association (CEA®), HDR is a new capability that promises to deliver a more expansive range of darkness, brightness and shadow detail, further enhancing the viewing experience. LG OLED 4K TVs meet the new CEA guidelines for HDR-Compatible Video Displays. LG OLED technology is perfectly suited for HDR content because it delivers the perfect black that only OLED TVs can achieve. By starting from perfect black, OLED is able to produce the required light ranges at lower peak brightness, resulting in an exceptional — and more comfortable — HDR viewing experience.

“By partnering with Amazon to deliver HDR content on LG’s OLED TV, we are confident we can deliver the best viewing experience available on a TV today for HDR content,” said Lee In-kyu, senior vice president and head of the TV and monitor division at LG’s Home Entertainment Company. “The streaming content market has grown enormously in the last few years and our partnership will bring the best in picture quality to more consumers.”

LG’s webOS Smart TV platform is designed to make finding and switching between content options — including broadcast TV, streaming services and external devices — intuitive and fast. webOS features simple switching to let viewers quickly shift to any content of their choice and makes it simple to discover new sources of entertainment from 4K partners 1 such as Amazon Video, Netflix™, YouTube™, DIRECTV and many more Full HD options.2

LG’s 2015 OLED 4K TVs combine the intense detail of 4K Ultra HD and the superior contrast and rich, accurate color that OLED provides, displaying the ultimate in picture quality. For impressive sound, LG’s 2015 OLED 4K TVs feature premium built-in speaker systems designed by harman/kardon® to deliver a completely captivating audio and video experience. LG has also taken its state-of-the-art screen technology and transformed it into a work of art with its Art Slim design philosophy, making OLED a complement to any interior décor as the TVs boast an amazingly slim depth at only a few millimeters and a stylish, frameless design.

Amazon streaming HDR content will be available this month on LG OLED 4K Ultra HD TVs in the USA, UK, Germany and Austria. Visitors to IFA are encouraged to stop by the LG booth from September 4-9 in Hall 18 to see the demonstration of Amazon HDR streaming content for themselves.

LG UNVEILS UBER-CONVENIENT REFRIGERATORS AT IFA 2015

LG’s Industry-Leading Technology Powers Refrigerators That
Deliver Enhanced Performance and Energy Savings

LG double Door-in-Door refrigerator with all the doors opened

SEOUL, Sep. 2, 2015 — At IFA 2015 in Berlin, LG Electronics (LG) is introducing its latest line of advanced refrigerators that have been specifically with European consumers in mind. The company’s energy-efficient refrigerators deliver convenience enhancing features such as the Dual Door-in-Door™ System which keeps food fresh longer and helps the interior stay better organized. The new cutting-edge lineup is designed to meet the needs of European consumers looking to enhances their convenience in the kitchen.

Inverter Linear Compressor Ensures Maximum Energy Savings

LG’s bottom-freezer refrigerators are industry leaders in efficiency, with a Total No Frost energy grade rating of A+++ -20 percent made possible by the refrigerator’s Inverter Linear Compressor. This advanced compressor utilizes a straight piston drive instead of a conventional reciprocating drive, resulting in less internal friction, higher reliability and greater durability with less noise. In tests conducted by VDE, LG refrigerators featuring Inverter Linear Compressors proved to be approximately 32 percent more energy efficient1 and up to 25 percent quieter2 than their non-Inverter counterparts. The company is so confident in the durability of the compressor that it is backed by a 10-year warranty.

Outstanding Convenience with Dual Door-in-Door

LG made consumers’ lives easier with its innovative Door-in-Door technology to give family members quick access to frequently sought food items. LG has taken this one step further by adding another Door-in-Door compartment, doubling the convenience. The right Door-in-Door compartment is accessible from the outside at the push of a button, making the space suitable for items that are frequently consumed by every member of the family, such as snacks and drinks. The left Door-in-Door compartment can be opened with the Hidden Easy Open Handle at the bottom of the door and is ideal for storing essential cooking ingredients such as pre-chopped vegetables, condiments and sauces. Both Door-in-Door compartments are equipped with Moving Baskets, enabling users to easily adjust the height of the internal compartments as they see fit.

The refrigerator’s Door-in-Door design reduces the amount of cold air escaping by up to 47 percent 3. With the addition of a second independent Door-in-Door compartment, cold air loss is further reduced.

Intelligent Organization with Smarter Storage

Thanks to the Dual Door-in-Door feature, foodstuffs can be stored in easily navigable sections, improving organization and enhancing convenience. In addition, the insulation walls of the multi-door refrigerators have been narrowed, enabling even more storage space. What’s more, the central partition found in most two door refrigerators has been eliminated, freeing up even more space.

Keep Foods Fresh with Total No Frost Technology

LG has long been the leader in Total No Frost technology, a key feature included in all of LG’s refrigerators sold in the European market. Total No Frost technology creates the ideal food storage environment by using a fan to uniformly dispersing cold air throughout the space. And LG refrigerators are equipped with Multi Air Flow to evenly regulate the interior temperature. Select LG refrigerators feature the unique Pure N Fresh air filtration system which circulates purified air through air flow channels to remove odors and keep food fresher longer.

Convenient Features and Hassle-Free Smart Technology

LG’s Smart Diagnosis™, featured on certain refrigerator models, allows call center representatives to quickly diagnose any problems the refrigerator may encounter without having to make a house visit. Moist Balance Crisper™ keeps fruits and vegetables from rotting by maintaining the correct moisture balance.

Glass Bottom-Freezer’s Award Winning Design

LG’s premium contour glass bottom-freezer refrigerator was recognized at the 2014 Red Dot Design Award for pairing refined aesthetics and efficiency-enhancing features. The contour glass exterior of this premium model features an easy-to-use display and features an attractive chrome wine rack. A premium modern design enhances the entire package for a refrigerator that will look great in any kitchen.

“LG’s latest refrigerators have been designed to reflect European consumers’ consideration of the environment and preference for convenient home solutions,” said Jo Seong-jin, president and CEO of the LG Electronics Home Appliance & Air Solution Company. “Every day we strive to create new technologies and convenience-enhancing features to meet the expectations of our customers which enable us to keep our leadership in the premium refrigerator market.”

LG PARTNERS WITH BROADCASTERS AND CONTENT PROVIDERS TO DEMO HDR CONTENT ON 4K OLED TVs

Collaborations Key to Advancing HDR Technology for Consumers

A demonstration of the World’s First HbbTV2.0 HDR Streaming on LG’s 4K OLED TV at IFA 2015.

SEOUL, Sep. 2, 2015 — This week at IFA 2015 in Berlin, LG Electronics (LG) will demonstrate High Dynamic Range (HDR)-enabled TV and broadcasting technologies in cooperation with a host of high-profile broadcasters and content providers. The highlight will be a demonstration of BBC Research & Development’s HDR content transmitted to LG 4K OLED TVs.

LG will hold the world’s first demonstration of HDR Hybrid broadcast broadband TV 2.0 (HbbTV 2.0) content on LG 4K OLED TVs. The BBC HDR content will be streamed by the EBU (European Broadcasting Union) which will employ an adaptive bitrate streaming technology, MPEG DASH, also known as Dynamic Adaptive Streaming over HTTP. This technology enables HDR content streaming over the Internet to be delivered from conventional HTTP web servers.

What’s more, LG and its partners will demonstrate the transmission of satellite HDR content, utilizing SES ASTRA’s established satellite systems. One of the leading satellite broadcasting services in the world, ASTRA’s network reaches 312 million households of which 154 million are in Europe.

Visitors to LG’s booth will be able to experience HDR content delivered via BROADCOM’s set-top box, which delivers HDR content via HDMI. Audiences will be able to see and compare the visual impact of HDR content against current industry standard content.

“We’re using this opportunity at the largest consumer electronics event in Europe to promote awareness of HDR technology, which is ideally suited for OLED TVs,” said Lee In-kyu, senior vice president and head of the TV and monitor division at LG’s Home Entertainment Company. “As a founding member of the UHD Alliance, LG sees partnering with leading media companies as a priority to advance our position in the HDR market and to bring great content to our customers.”

Visitors to IFA are encouraged to stop by LG’s booth in Hall 18 of Messe Berlin from September 4-9 to see the demonstration of HDR content on OLED TVs for themselves.

LG UNVEILS UPGRADED LG STYLER CLOTHING CARE SYSTEM AT IFA 2015

Home “Dry Cleaner” Makes Caring for Wardrobe a Whole Lot Easier

Front view of LG Styler

SEOUL, Sep. 1, 2015 —LG Electronics (LG) will introduce the latest iteration of its one-of-a-kind steam clothing care system at IFA this week in Berlin. The unique LG Styler is designed to refresh clothes without chemicals, providing an ideal solution for clothes that require extra special care such as coats and sweaters and items made of wool or silk.

Unlike typical washing machines, LG’s one-of-a-kind Styler doesn’t clean clothes with water but with steam. TrueSteam™, LG’s steam spray technology which is also available in many of LG’s popular washing machines, sanitizes as it refreshes. With one touch of a button, hot steam is sprayed directly on the clothes to eliminate more than 99 percent of the germs and bacteria that infest clothes, hats and scarves. And Styler is safe to use because it doesn’t require harsh chemicals. In fact, tests carried out by one research body showed that the LG Styler eliminated approximately 92 percent of Perchloroethylene — the main chemical used in dry cleaning and a possible carcinogen — during a complete 83-minute cleaning cycle. 1

New for 2015, the Styler offers a useful Pants Press feature in the door to iron out wrinkles in pants while leaving a perfect crease down the center of each leg. The 2015 Styler is also able to communicate with others through Smart Diagnosis™ and NFC Tag-On. Smart Diagnosis™ alerts users via their smartphones when the unit requires maintenance or repair. With Tag-On, owners can install a free app and download customized cycles specific to a garment type and program the Styler with a simple tap of their phones.

“At LG, we understand that busy people need creative solutions,” said Seong-jin Jo, president and CEO of the LG Home Appliance & Air Solution Company. “The Styler is a new category of appliance that was developed to directly address the needs of customers who desired an option for garment care for hard-to-maintain clothes. The Styler is a perfect example of what we mean by ‘innovation for a better life’.”

Visitors to IFA are encouraged to stop by the LG booth from September 4-9 in Hall 18 to see the improved 2015 LG Styler for themselves.

LG WATCH URBANE LUXE, AN EXQUISITE SMARTWATCH

Limited Edition Device from LG is More Jewelry Than Wearable

Side view of the LG Watch Urbane Luxe

SEOUL, Aug. 31, 2015 In collaboration with U.S. retail jewelry company REEDS Jewelers, LG Electronics (LG) will introduce a premium limited edition smartwatch, LG Watch Urbane Luxe. This luxurious wearable was designed with a specific wearer in mind and is adorned in 23-karat gold and gorgeous alligator leather strap set in an exclusive piano-gloss lacquer case. Available starting at the end of October, the LG Watch Urbane Luxe will retail for approximately USD 1,200.

The LG Watch Urbane Luxe will sport a deployment clasp for a fitted, elegant look that isn’t bulky. Invented by Louis Cartier in 1910, the use of a deployment clasp makes this  timepiece even more exclusive and unique. The alligator band itself is handcrafted at the highest level of craftsmanship, undergoing 50 separate steps in its creation, handled lovingly by 30 experienced leatherworkers. The 23-karat gold used in the LG Watch Urbane Luxe is stronger and harder than the 24-karat gold used in jewelry and heavier than the 18-karat gold used in traditional luxury watches.

“Wearable devices shouldn’t be thought of as an extension of one’s smartphone but an extension of oneself,” said Chris Yie, vice president and head of marketing communications for LG Mobile Communications Company. “This blending of craftsmanship and technology is a natural evolution of the smartwatch, which is becoming more of a lifestyle accessory than a piece of hardware. We think this is a good direction for wearables and we want to encourage this transformation.”

Each of the 500 limited edition watches will be engraved with its own serial number for authenticity and available initially in the USA for pre-order at www.REEDS.com later this month or by visiting any REEDS Jewelers location. Visitors to IFA 2015 can see this beautiful work of art for themselves along with other mobile devices from LG in Hall 18 of Messe Berlin from September 4-9.

What’s more, LG will unveil their Smart Lightwave Oven and Smart Air Conditioner that are compatible with AllJoyn®, an open platform for the internet of things (IoT) developed by the Allseen Alliance.

The SmartThinQ Sensor is a circular device that can be attached to existing home appliances such as washing machines or refrigerators, to sense feedback such as vibration and temperature and communicate those readings to the SmartThinQ app on users’ smartphones. For example, attaching the sensor to a normal washing machine door transforms the washer into a smart appliance that informs the user when the laundry cycle is complete. Attach the SmartThingQ Sensor to a refrigerator and it will send a notification to a connected smartphone when a particular food item is about to expire. The sensor will also keep track of how many times the door is opened even when you’re not home. And connecting the SmartThingQ Sensor to an air conditioner or other appliances will allow users to control the appliances remotely through the SmartThinQ app.

AllJoyn is a collaborative open-source software framework that makes it easy for devices and apps to discover and communicate with each other. AllJoyn is endorsed by all members of the Allseen Alliance, a cross-industry IoT consortium of more than 180 companies. The AllJoyn compatible Smart Lightwave Oven from LG allows users to download, update and share recipes with friends and relatives via their mobile devices. The Smart Lightwave Oven is Wi-Fi enabled, allowing homeowners to use their smartphones to set the cooking mode, temperature and cooking time for a given dish. The Smart Lightwave Oven can even perform self-diagnosis and help find solutions and repair information online through an LG service center. LG’s Smart Air Conditioner not only informs owners when to replace the air filter, it can also be controlled remotely from a smartphone, putting an end to entering a hot, stuffy home on a hot day.

“Adoption of smart home appliances has been slow because of the perception that the technology is not easily accessible,” said Jo Seong-jin, president and CEO of the LG Electronics Home Appliance & Air Solution Company. “LG is committed to continuing its leadership in the smart home market with innovations such as LG SmartThingQ, which provides real-life benefits and offers new lifestyle conveniences through technology that is easy to use.”

LG’s smart appliances and more will be on display at LG’s IFA booth in Hall 18 of Messe Berlin from September 4-9.

WOMEN BASEBALLERS TAKE THE FIELD IN SECOND INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S BASEBALL TOURNAMENT

LG Cup 2015 Seeks to Create More Opportunities
for Female Baseball Players From All Over the World

SEOUL, Aug. 28, 2015 — LG Electronics (LG) announced that it will once again sponsor the LG Cup International Women’s Baseball Tournament, marking this the second year of partnership with the World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC) and the Women’s Baseball Association of Korea (WBAK). Taking place at LG Champion’s Park in Icheon, South Korea, from August 28 to 31, the 2015 LG Cup will feature more than 170 players in eight teams from seven countries. Koo Bon-joon, vice chairman and CEO of LG Electronics, and Jeong Jin-koo, Chairman of the WBAK, will be the guests of honor at the opening ceremony.

Unlike other popular sports such as soccer and basketball, opportunity for women in baseball is nonexistent in most countries. Too often, young women must play on men’s teams if they want to play baseball at all and there is little or no opportunity outside the school environment. Although there are a handful of international competitions for women in baseball, LG believes more can be done to level the playing field for talented women who love baseball. Through the LG Cup, LG hopes to raise the profile of one of the world’s favorite pastimes with women and girls all over.

The eight teams represented in this year’s tournament include Australia, Hong Kong, India, Japan, Taiwan, USA and the two teams from the host country, South Korea. The 2015 LG Cup will be contested through a series of group stage and playoff matches. In addition to schedules and results of the competition, images from the games and player information will be posted regularly on the official website www.lgcup4u.com.

“LG believes strongly in providing a compelling platform for female athletes and supporting the growth of women’s baseball around the world,” said Koo Bon-joon, CEO of LG Electronics. “At LG, we do not believe there should be any limits on the dreams of young women in sports. Baseball is a terrific activity for people of all ages and gender and an ideal sport to facilitate athletic inspiration and achievement.”

LG DEVELOPS FULL-SIZE KEYBOARD FOR POCKETS

LG Looks to Increase Share of Growing Mobile Device Accessories Market

Three Rolly Keyboards displayed on the table with a G pad, an LG smartphone and a cup of coffee. Two of them are folded up with the other is ready to use.

SEOUL, Aug. 27, 2015 — In an effort to capture a larger share of the fast-growing mobile accessories market, LG Electronics (LG) will unveil the industry’s first solid rollable wireless portable keyboard at IFA 2015 in Berlin, Germany. Unlike other portable keyboards on the market, LG’s Rolly Keyboard (model KBB-700) folds up along the four rows to create an easy-to-carry “stick” that fits into one’s pocket as easily as any purse or briefcase.

Featuring high-contrast keys and a fold-out mobile device stand, typing on Rolly Keyboard is extremely comfortable because its 17mm key pitch is nearly as generous as the 18mm key pitch found on most desktop keyboards. Made of impact-resistant and durable polycarbonate and ABS plastic, typing on the keyboard offers satisfying tactile feedback not found on flexible silicone keyboards. Two sturdy arms fold out to support smartphones as well as tablets 1 in an upright position. Simply unfolding the Rolly Keyboard enables the auto pairing function to connect easily to two different devices at the same time via Bluetooth 3.0 with the ability to toggle between the two with a simple key press. A single AAA battery powers the keyboard for up to three months of average use.

“LG Rolly Keyboard is just one of the many premium input devices we’ll be unveiling in the coming months as we expand our accessories offerings,” said Seo Young-jae, vice president in charge of Innovative Personal Devices at LG Electronics Mobile Communications Company.  “The goal was to create a product that could add more value to LG smartphones and tablets at the same time offering a unique design proposition that hadn’t been explored before.”

The Rolly Keyboard will make its debut in September in the United States, followed by key markets in Europe, Latin America and Asia in the fourth quarter. Prices and details of availability will be announced locally at the time of launch. Visitors to IFA 2015 can see LG Rolly Keyboard up close in Hall 18 of Messe Berlin from September 4-9.

LG TO DOUBLE GLOBAL OLED TV OFFERINGS IN 2015

Expanded Lineup to Feature World’s First HDR Capable 4K OLED TV at IFA 2015

The LG OLED TV Lineup on display at IFA.

SEOUL, Aug. 26, 2015 — LG Electronics (LG), the world’s first 4K OLED TV manufacturer, will unveil four new OLED TVs next week at IFA 2015 in Berlin. Among these will be 65- and 55-inch 4K high dynamic range (HDR) OLED TV sets (models 65/55EF9500 and 55EG9200) and a curved OLED TV (model 55EG9100). The EF9500 units feature the industry’s first flat 4K resolution OLED displays while the 55EG9200 and 55EG9100 measure an incredibly slim 4.8mm. With an expanded 2015 OLED TV lineup — which includes nine models offering a diverse range of resolutions and frame types — LG is keen to demonstrate its commitment to making OLED’s unparalleled viewing experience available to more consumers.

LG’s industry-leading OLED display technology ensures that images are displayed in perfect black as well as perfect colors. This is what makes OLED technology an ideal match for HDR content because only OLED panels can deliver the absolute black which makes the bright colors of HDR look even more impressive. OLED TVs are able to render the required HDR light range at lower peak brightness, resulting in an exceptional and more comfortable viewing experience. What’s more, LG’s HDR-capable OLED TVs allow consumers to view HDR content from both streaming content partners as well as external sources.

Improvements in LG’s newest sets don’t stop there, even the design has been upgraded. It’s hard to believe that a TV could be this thin — at their slimmest point, both the EG9200 and EG9100 are thinner than any smartphone on the market today. The shimmering transparent stand enhances the viewing experience by reducing visual clutter around the screen. And the razor-thin bezels are nearly invisible, with images seeming to drop off the edges of the display. With both curved and flat options, there’s an OLED TV suitable for all types of rooms and environments.

All of LG’s 4K OLED TVs feature webOS 2.0, the latest iteration of LG’s proprietary smart TV platform. With its enhanced user interface and advanced features, webOS 2.0 makes navigating a smart TV simpler, easier and more intuitive. webOS 2.0 also reduces boot time and allows users to personalize the Launch Bar menus making it easier than ever for users to access their favorite content. In addition, LG’s 4K OLED TVs feature speakers developed in partnership with audio leader Harman/Kardon to ensure that the flawless 4K OLED images will have sound quality second to none.

“Anyone who sees our newest TVs at this year’s IFA will walk away without a shred of doubt that HDR and OLED complement each other perfectly,” said Lee In-kyu, senior vice president and head of the TV and monitor division at the LG Home Entertainment Company. “Our expanded 4K OLED TV lineup will demonstrate to consumers that OLED is here to stay and that LG is committed to leading the next generation TV market.”

LG’s new 4K OLED TVs will be available starting at the end of August in Germany, Korea, the US and UK with the rollout to continue over the next several months in select markets. Visitors to IFA 2015 are encouraged to stop by LG’s booth in Hall 18 of Messe Berlin from September 4-9 to see LG’s newest OLED TV models for themselves.

LG TO UNVEIL UBER-DURABLE CENTUM SYSTEM FRONT-LOAD WASHING MACHINE AT IFA 2015

LG’s Newest Innovations Sure to Turn Heads at
Europe’s Leading Industry Trade Show

Front view of LG front-load washing machine

SEOUL, Aug. 25, 2015 — At next month’s IFA in Berlin, LG Electronics (LG) will introduce its Centum System, an innovative suspension system specifically designed to enhance reliability and durability in the company’s front-load washing machines. The Centum System will be the latest innovation to be featured in LG’s newest front-load washing machines for the European market which offer an upgraded enamel coated exterior design for a more premium look. LG TWIN Wash, the first washing machine capable of handling dual loads simultaneously, will also be making its European debut at IFA 2015.

Centum System

Another game-changing innovation from the company that introduced the industry to the Direct Drive motor in 1998, LG’s unique Centum System does away with traditional springs to support the outer tub by utilizing a new damping system equipped with shock absorbers, similar to those found in automobiles. This fixed-tub system greatly reduces vibration and noise levels, emitting only 67dB during the spin cycle, equivalent to the sound of a typical conversation.1 What’s more, with less moving parts, there’s less friction, the leading cause of wear and tear in machines. LG is so confident in the technology that it is doubling the standard 10-year warranty on its Inverter Direct Drive motors to 20 years in its Centum System washing machines.

TurboWashTM Technology

LG’s advanced washing machines also come equipped with TurboWash, which can complete a half load cycle in only 49 minutes.2 A highly pressurized jet spray removes detergent from clothes during the rinse cycle, using less water and energy than conventional washing machines.

Smart Connectivity and Convenience

LG has long been at the forefront of smart technology and all Centum System washing machines will be available with Wi-Fi connectivity. Homeowners will now be able to start wash cycles and receive real-time laundry notifications via their smartphones from any room in the house. LG washing machines equipped with NFC make it convenient to program different wash cycles by simply touching the smartphone to the washing machine.

Eco-Hybrid Washer-Dryers

Washer-dryer combinations are popular in Europe and LG is leading the way with versatile features in its Eco-Hybrid washer-dryers delivering convenient and efficient options for greater energy savings. This year at IFA, LG will be showcasing Eco-Hybrid washer-dryers in a wide range of capacities. With a washing capacity of 8kg and 5kg drying capacity, LG’s Eco-Hybrid washer-dryer is a more compact version of the original 12kg wash and 8kg dry combination but delivers the same reliability and features. LG offers a full-range of washer-dryers capacities, including a 10.5kg/7kg and a 9kg/6kg combination for consumers looking for options in between.

Introducing TWIN Wash to Europe

LG’s revolutionary TWIN Wash will be making its appearance in Europe for the first time at IFA 2015. LG TWIN Wash enables two separate loads to be washed simultaneously by combining a full-sized front load washing machine with a mini washer in a hide-away pedestal, generating a whole new set of washing options. The powerful main washing machine handles the bulk of the laundry, while the mini washer can be set to run a different wash cycle. Smaller loads can be washed when needed without having to wait until a full load has accumulated. The mini washer is perfect for delicate or specialized items that require a unique wash setting, such as lingerie or baby clothes.

“Every year, IFA provides the ideal platform for us to highlight the technological advancements we’re bringing to Europe through our home appliances,” said Jo Seong-jin, president and CEO of the LG Electronics Home Appliance & Air Solutions Company. “Our Centum System front loading washing machines, Eco-Hybrid washer-dryers and new TWIN Wash all show our commitment to providing remarkable durability and convenience for customers in Europe as well as all over the world.”

Visitors to IFA 2015 are encouraged to stop by LG’s booth in Hall 18 of Messe Berlin from September 4-9 to see LG’s newest home appliances for themselves.
