LIVE ATSC 3.0 BROADCAST DURING CES 2016 DELIVERS 4K UHD HDR TO NEXT-GEN LG OLED 4K TVs

LG Technology in Majority of Transmission System Standard
Enables Landmark Broadcast, Ushering in New TV Era

A next-gen LG OLED TV delivering 4K UHD HDR, which is live broadcasting ATSC 3.0, on display at CES 2016.

LAS VEGAS, Jan. 6, 2016 — With its first live over-the-air broadcast of 4K Ultra HD TV with high dynamic range (HDR) using the new ATSC 3.0 Candidate Standard, digital television pioneer LG Electronics (LG) is ushering in the era of next-generation television broadcasting at CES® 2016.

The landmark broadcast, from Las Vegas station KHMP-TV’s transmitter on Nevada’s Black Mountain, is delivering pristine 4K HDR content, received for the first time on LG’s new ATSC 3.0-enabled receivers at the Las Vegas Convention Center. The signal has stunning detail with four times the resolution of today’s HDTV and offers the lifelike realism of HDR’s enhanced contrast, brightness and shadow detail.

KHMP Channel 18, owned and operated by DNV Spectrum Holdings, a broadcast group that also owns other stations in the United States, is broadcasting in Las Vegas using the ATSC 3.0 Physical Layer Candidate Standard under an experimental broadcast license from the U.S. Federal Communications Commission. Core technologies developed by LG Electronics are included in the majority of the Physical Layer Candidate Standard.

The transmission field trial during CES exemplifies the very robust transmission and high bandwidth for 4K made possible for the first time using the ATSC 3.0 next-generation standard developed by the Advanced Television Systems Committee.

“We are proud that LG technology is behind the majority of the elements of the Physical Layer transmission system,” said Dr. Skott Ahn, President and Chief Technology Officer, LG Electronics. “ATSC 3.0 is a collaborative effort among many broadcast technology experts, and our technology is part of at least 10 of the 15 building blocks of the new Candidate Standard.”

Among the many LG contributions to ATSC 3.0, the company’s technologies are included in the Physical Layer Candidate Standard’s scrambler, forward error correction, bit-interleaver, mapper, MIMO, time-interleaver, OFDM framer, frequency-interleaver, pilot and tone reserve, and guard interval.

“Thanks in large part to LG’s technology at the heart of the Physical Layer Candidate Standard, this robust system will bring a new level of flexibility for broadcasters and exciting new services for viewers. ATSC 3.0 promises to usher in the new Golden Age of broadcast television,” Ahn added.

Expected to redefine TV broadcasting for decades to come, the ATSC 3.0 next-generation broadcast standard provides higher capacity to deliver 4K UHD services, robust reception on mobile devices and improved spectrum efficiency. The increased payload capacity of the physical layer combined with HEVC encoding will allow broadcasters many more options when planning their broadcast service offerings.

“LG is leading the way in development and commercialization of ATSC 3.0 in the U.S. and in Korea,” said Ahn, who explained that this week’s Las Vegas broadcast comes on the heels of other broadcast field trials conducted in the United States and South Korea over the past 18 months by LG Electronics, its U.S. R&D Lab Zenith, and leading broadcast equipment provider GatesAir.

Those real-world field tests in Seoul, Cleveland, Ohio, and Madison, Wisconsin, represented key mileposts in LG’s pioneering developments of core technologies behind the new ATSC 3.0 Standard, he said. “The Las Vegas broadcast, with the approved ATSC Candidate Standard transmission system, again shows how we are partnering with broadcasters around the world to drive adoption of next-generation broadcasting technology.”

Development of ATSC 3.0 technologies represents the latest collaboration among LG, Zenith and GatesAir, co-inventors of the transmission system behind the ATSC A/153 Mobile Digital TV Standard, adopted by the industry in 2009. Zenith invented the core transmission system at the heart of today’s ATSC A/53 Digital Television Standard, approved by the Federal Communications Commission in 1996.

LG INTRODUCES BIGGER STYLER FOR B2B MARKET AT CES 2016

Wi-Fi Compatible Steam Clothing Care System Now Holds Up To Six Garments

Side view of LG Styler

LAS VEGAS, Dec. 6, 2015 — LG Electronics (LG) will unveil a larger commercial version of its Styler, the unique steam clothing care system that can refresh, deodorize and sanitize wardrobe in the comfort of one’s home or office. The newest LG Styler can now hold up to five garments in the main section, while the Pants Crease Care feature can steam and press a pair of pants, bringing the Styler’s total capacity to six garments. LG has also equipped the Styler with Wi-Fi technology, allowing consumers to operate it from anywhere.

The LG-exclusive Styler can refresh an entire wardrobe without getting clothes wet or using harmful detergents. This extra delicate touch provides an ideal solution for garments that require special care such as coats and sweaters and items made of wool, fur and leather. With just a touch of a button on the Styler’s intuitive touch control, LG’s proprietary TrueSteam™ technology begins to eliminate more than 99.9 percent of the germs and bacteria that are on clothes, hats and scarves. Renowned product testing institutes, such as the British Allergy Foundation (BAF) and Intertek have attested to the effectiveness of the Styler’s steam sanitization abilities.1

The 2016 Styler features even more room for your delicate articles of clothing including blouses, coats and baby clothes. Up to five garments can be placed on the Moving Hanger feature, which shakes the clothes through the steam at 220 RPM to reduce odors and wrinkles. In addition, the Pants Crease Care feature, which is conveniently located on the inside of the stylishly designed Glass Door, has been enlarged to accommodate even big and tall sized pants up to waist size 48. This useful feature irons out wrinkles in pants while leaving a crease down the center of each leg.

Other convenience-enhancing features include Wi-Fi compatibility, which allows customized cycles to be downloaded to a smartphone from the internet. Furthermore, the Styler can send push notifications to customers’ smartphones, and display information on how much energy is being used.

Throughout 2015, LG has committed the Styler to extensive field testing at major hotels and commercial centers to ensure that it is geared for the B2B market. LG is currently exploring many options for outfitting the latest Styler in hotels and other businesses during 2016.

“In response to the numerous positive feedback we’ve received from owners of the Styler, we decided to expand the lineup to include a larger version targeting the commercial sector, where there is no shortage of clothes that need refreshing,” said Jo Seong-jin, president and CEO of the LG Home Appliance & Air Solution Company. “Our newest Styler is an example of how LG continues to pioneer this new category of appliance and why we continue to lead the global appliance market.”

The new Styler will be available in the United States and Korea in the second half of 2016 with other markets to follow. Visitors to CES can see the B2B LG Styler for themselves at LG’s booth in the Las Vegas Convention Center (#8204 Central Hall). LAS VEGAS, Jan. 5, 2016 — LG Electronics (LG) today announced key partnerships with premier technology companies and content providers to offer consumers more high-quality 4K HDR (high dynamic range) content. Visitors to LG’s CES booth (#8204 Central Hall, Las Vegas Convention Center) will be able to experience a host of new content and related innovations to see firsthand LG’s HDR technology in action.

LG’s new OLED TVs and Super UHD TVs in 2016 are designed to support the current industry-standard HDR formats such as HDR10 and Dolby Vision™. LG, Dolby and Netflix collaborated to create high-quality 4K Dolby Vision™ HDR footage from Netflix’s highly acclaimed Daredevil series for LG OLED TVs, which visitors to CES will be able to view at the LG booth. The Dolby Vision™ content takes full advantage of LG’s OLED technology to deliver brighter highlights, deeper darks, enhanced details and colors unmatched by conventional TVs for a superior TV viewing experience.

LG has also teamed up with a number of major global content providers to ensure that the best streaming content is readily available for HDR viewing. Original HDR programs from Amazon including The Man in the High Castle, Red Oaks, Transparent and Mozart in the Jungle will be demonstrated at LG’s booth at CES. Visitors will also be able to experience YouTube’s HDR content for the first time, demonstrated using Google’s VP9-Profile 2 codec. YouTube will provide HDR playback through their TV app starting later this year.

At CES, LG also will display scenes from 20th Century Fox’s “The Martian” on its HDR-enabled OLED TVs, using the Vidity video player from Western Digital. The popular movie has been HDR-remastered, making the film’s fantastic space scenes look even more spectacular.

To highlight yet another collaboration, the LG booth will feature a dark room designed specifically to display HDR video clips from deep space shot by NASA and produced by Harmonic, the official UHD partner of NASA. As NASA and Harmonic will show, HDR allows viewers to experience space in a way never seen before. “LG’s OLED TVs, with their ability to deliver deep blacks, showcase the recently announced NASA TV UHD channel in the best possible way, taking consumers much closer to the real experience of being in space,” said Peter Alexander, senior vice president and CMO of Harmonic.

Lastly, LG will also demonstrate an advanced HDR broadcasting technology in cooperation with Las Vegas local broadcaster. Developed by the Advanced Television Systems Committee, ATSC 3.0 standard-implemented broadcast draws on HEVC (High Efficiency Video Code), the next generation video compression technology in the United States, and advanced frequency transmission to greatly improve picture quality.

“At LG, we take content just as seriously as TV technology and hardware,” said Brian Kwon, President and CEO at LG’s Home Entertainment Company. “Sharing our innovation with industry-leading partners is a critical part of our strategy to bring more benefits to our customers and to quickly expand the availability of great content.”

LG TO INTRODUCE ALL NEW 4K HDR-ENABLED OLED TV LINEUP AT CES 2016

Picture-on-Glass Design, Enhanced HDR Functions and Amazing
Blacks and Colors Separate LG TVs From the Competition

Front view of LG’s flagship 4K HDR-enabled OLED TV model G6.

LAS VEGAS, Jan. 5, 2016 — LG Electronics (LG) will be exhibiting its newest flagship 4K HDR-enabled OLED TVs at the 2016 CES from Jan. 6-9, led by the flagship 77/65-inch G6 and 65/55-inch E6 models. All eight new models will feature LG’s premium technologies including OLED displays, 4K resolution and high dynamic range, which LG implements in the G6 and E6 as HDR Pro.

All 2016 OLED TV models from LG feature the Ultra HD Premium seal of recognition from the UHD Alliance for meeting the demanding standards set by the industry organization for resolution, high dynamic range, peak luminance, black levels, wide color gamut and audio quality, among other criteria. The new TV lineup supports the industry-standard HDR formats established by the world’s leading broadcasters, film studios and consumer electronics manufacturers such as HDR10 and Dolby Vision™.

The G6 and E6 are the first TVs from LG to feature the company’s unique Picture-On-Glass design, which boast an ultra-thin 2.57mm OLED panel with a translucent glass back and forward-facing soundbar speaker system. By focusing on TV technologies directly related to picture and sound quality, both the G6 and E6 represent a whole new level of home entertainment innovation.

On OLED TVs, HDR becomes something else to behold, its capabilities enriched by OLED’s Pixel Dimming technology. Unlike LCD displays where the LED backlight locally dims entire sections of the screen, each pixel on an OLED panel can switch on and off independently. As a result, OLED TVs render crisp, vibrant colors and shadow details, even when bright objects are directly next to deep, dark areas. This ability ensures that images are displayed in perfect black as well as in vibrant colors, making OLED TVs the ideal medium for HDR content.

With 10-bit panel and 10-bit processing power, LG’s OLED TVs have access to more than a billion possible color options and ColorPrime Pro technology gives these TVs the ability to display the finest details of color and gradation. And with support for BT.2020, the next-generation standard for broadcast and distribution, the G6 and E6 are future-proof with a higher color reproduction rate.

Developed in partnership with high-end audio pioneer harman/kardon, the LG G6 and E6 are designed with a front-firing soundbar speaker system. With the speakers pointing forward, not downward like many thin TVs, viewers will hear clean, detailed audio without any distortion and reflection. The soundbar system is equipped with extra woofers to bolster the power of the speakers, setting LG OLED TVs apart from other stylish, ultra-thin TVs.

The 2016 OLED TV lineup come with the newest iteration of LG’s webOS content management platform. LG webOS 3.0 provides an exceptional user experience to help LG SMART TV users more intuitively navigate the TV’s many features. Since its commercial introduction in 2015, webOS has been praised as one of the most versatile smart TV platforms by major media titles. With enhanced mobile connectivity, remote features and more content options, LG webOS 3.0 is expected to appeal to even more discerning customers than its predecessor.

“Our 2016 OLED TV lineup features a long list of innovations, such as Picture-on-Glass design and HDR Pro which are prominent and key features in the G6 and E6 models,” said Brian Kwon, President and CEO at LG’s Home Entertainment Company. “By upping our OLED TV game every year, we are driving innovation in the TV space so that more consumers will see and hear about the benefits of owning an OLED TV. We think 2016 will be a game changer for this category.”

The LG G6 and E6, among other new LG products, will be on display at CES with plans to start its global rollout in March. For more information about LG products at CES, please visit www.LGnewsroom.com/ces2016 .

LG SIGNATURE will include more products as the brand expands.

OLED TV With Maximum Technology for Maximum Immersion

The 2016 CES ‘Best of Innovation’ award winning LG SIGNATURE OLED TV boasts the ultimate in elegant simplicity by eliminating all unnecessary elements that distract from the viewer’s immersive experience. The LG SIGNATURE OLED TV features the company’s unique Picture-on-Glass design, which boasts an ultra-thin 2.57mm OLED panel with a translucent glass back and forward-facing soundbar speaker system. To achieve this streamlined profile that blends in naturally into any interior environment, designers eliminated all unnecessary features and placed the speakers inside the stand.

The LG SIGNATURE OLED TV has received the Ultra HD Premium seal of recognition from the UHD Alliance (UHDA) signifying that it meets the most demanding performance standards for resolution, HDR (high dynamic range), peak luminance, black levels, wide color gamut and immersive audio, among other criteria. With HDR capabilities, Pixel Dimming, 10-bit panel/10-bit processing power, ColorPrime Pro and new webOS 3.0, the LG SIGNATURE OLED TV represents the ultimate in TV technology.

Washing Machine Like No Other

The unique-looking LG SIGNATURE washing machine is an advanced version of the LG TWIN Wash™, first introduced to the public at CES 2015. The LG SIGNATURE 24-inch front load washing machine is more durable, more convenient and more sophisticated than ever and features the unique pedestal MINI Wash under the main unit.

The minimalistic design of the LG SIGNATURE washing machine is highlighted by the beautiful Quick Circle User Interface which is touch-enabled and embedded in the glass door at a 17 degree angle that makes it easy to see when standing. The Push Open washing machine door can be opened even when your hands are full by simply pushing lightly. And the enamel coating which gives the washing machine a sophisticated and sleek look also repels fingerprints and corrosion.

The LG SIGNATURE washing machine comes equipped with LG’s proprietary Centum System™ which improves the washing machine’s durability and energy efficiency with an advanced suspension system. Noise emitted while the washing machine is in operation is greatly decreased because the Centum System™ minimizes the tub’s vibrations during a wash cycle.

The US version of the LG SIGNATURE washing machine will offer a different design and feature a large capacity of 30-inches.

Refrigerator that Unveils the Freshness Within

The LG SIGNATURE refrigerator represents the visualization of essence with a fresh take that is both intuitive and evolutionary. As a nod to its innovative spirit, LG has taken its award-winning Door-in-Door™ design one step further by adding a Knock-On Door-in-Door feature that makes the opaque Door-in-Door™ compartment transparent with a simple knock. The transparent surface allows customers to peer inside the refrigerator without having to open the door, offering significant energy savings by limiting cold air loss.

Even more innovative is the new Auto Door Open feature which automatically opens the door when an individual approaches the refrigerator, allowing for quick and easy access even if your arms are full of groceries.

The LG SIGNATURE refrigerator is powered by LG’s Inverter Linear Compressor which automatically adjusts its cooling capacity based on load conditions, generates less internal friction due to its unique design and is backed by a 10-year warranty.

Air Purifier that Cleans Air Before Your Very Eyes

LG believes that nothing is more important than clean air. The exquisitely designed LG SIGNATURE air purifier allows the air cleaning process to be a visual experience with its innovative transparent panel. Equipped with an advanced Aqua-Cyclone feature, this air purifier harnesses the power of water to filter out harmful chemicals and contaminants while quickly bringing the room to comfortable humidity levels. The unit is equipped with LG’s Semi-Permanent Filter System, allowing consumers to remove, wash and reuse the filters for up to 10 years, saving both time and money.

While fine dust particles are typically invisible to the naked eye, customers can see the air quality of their indoor environment by simply glancing at LG’s Smart PM1.0 Indicator. Positioned around the control display, the indicator uses four different colors of light to signify the concentration of super-fine dust particles.

“Our driving principle is to ensure that the essence of our products is preserved from idea generation through to the end user experience,” said Brian Na, executive vice president and LG’s global marketing officer. “LG SIGNATURE is the embodiment of everything that is important to LG and we hope to convey that philosophy to customers who appreciate great products from strong brands.”

LG SIGNATURE will begin rolling out in key target markets in North America, Europe and Asia soon after CES. CES attendees are encouraged to stop by LG’s booth from January 6-9 at the Las Vegas Convention Center, Central Hall #8204 to experience LG SIGNATURE up close and personal. And because consumers on the move tend to enjoy an active lifestyle, the K Series is designed with multimedia creating and consumption in mind with a roomy display to show images and videos captured with the most advanced camera on a smartphone in this category — 13MP on the rear and 8MP on the front in the case of the K10.

NEW LG SUPER UHD TV LINEUP SURE TO IMPRESS 2016 CES ATTENDEES

2016 HDR-enabled 4K TVs Offer Enhanced Picture Quality and Powerful Features

LG displaying its IPS TVs model 86UH9550, 65UH9500 and 65UH8500 at CES 2016.

SEOUL, Jan. 3, 2016 — LG Electronics’ newest and most innovative TV products will take center stage at the 2016 International Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas next month. Leading the company’s IPS TV offerings will be the 65-inch UH9500 and 86-inch UH9550 and SUPER UHD TV 65-inch UH8500 and 75-inch UH8550. The premium SUPER UHD TV models offer higher color reproduction rate, advanced picture and sound-enhancing features including HDR (high dynamic range) and LG’s alluring ULTRA Slim design.

Both LG’s top-of-the-line UH9500 and UH9550 units boast the most advanced IPS display in the industry with innovations such as True Black Panel and Contrast Maximizer. True Black Panel is a proprietary technology that minimizes reflections and enhances contrast ratio for a more comfortable viewing experience while Contrast Maximizer delivers more depth and contrast by separating objects from their backgrounds.

HDR Plus is the technology that enables the UH9500 and UH9550 to show 4K HDR content as they were meant to be seen. What’s more, LG’s ULTRA Luminance technology greatly enhances contrast between dark and bright areas, greatly enhancing the HDR effect. And with HDR-compatible HDMI ports and an SDR-to-HDR conversation engine, viewers can enjoy near-HDR content from any standard source.

To enhance color reproduction, LG’s ColorPrime Plus magnifies the range of colors that can be displayed on the screen. The technology utilizes a broadened color spectrum to render a wider range of hues and shades, creating images with greater depth and realism. Another innovation, Billion Rich Colors, uses the 10-bit panel and 10-bit processing power to give the UH9500 and UH9550 the ability to render over one billion possible colors. And with support for BT.2020, the next-generation standard for broadcast and distribution, these TV models are future-proof with a higher color reproduction rate.

The UH9500 employs LG’s new design concept, making it even thinner than its predecessor. By reducing the gaps between the panel and back cover chassis, the ultra-thin 6.6mm screen depth and near invisible bezels combine to give the appearance of the TV floating on air. And the UH9500 is second to none when it comes to sound. LG worked with high-end audio pioneer harman/kardon worked to develop a speaker system that could deliver high quality, detailed sound. LG’s new Magic Sound Tuning function measures and analyzes the viewer’s environment and makes adjustments to customize the sound to the room’s specific conditions.

Similar to the UH9500 and UH9550 in features, the UH8500 and UH8550 also offer ColorPrime Plus, Billion Rich Colors, ULTRA Luminance and Contrast Maximizer in a slightly different design configuration. LG will also take the wraps off its first production-ready 98-inch 8K SUPER UHD TV with plans to begin shipping in the second half of 2016.

“We’re confident our newest HDR-enabled SUPER UHD TVs in 2016 will generate much excitement not in the industry, but also with consumers in general,” said Brian Kwon, President and CEO at LG’s Home Entertainment Company. “We are the only company with a dual strategy focused on both OLED and IPS TV technologies and this is proof that we are not prioritizing one display over the other.”

LG’s SUPER UHD TVs with HDR will be on display in Central Hall Booth #8204 from January 6-9 in the Las Vegas Convention Center. For more information about LG’s products at CES 2016, please visit www.LGnewsroom.com/ces2016 .

LG ADVANCES SMART HOME ECOSYSTEM WITH SMARTTHINQ™ HUB AT CES 2016

New LG Smart Hub Sends Notifications from Appliances and
Sensors, Displays Schedule Reminders and Streams Music

LG smart phone with user’s hand visible synced with one of LG SmartThinQ™ Hubs in Champaign Gold and Black color to share schedule

SEOUL, Dec. 30, 2015 — LG Electronics (LG) will unveil its newest addition to its IoT ecosystem, SmartThinQ™ Hub, at CES 2016. LG SmartThinQ Hub serves as a gateway to smart sensors and connected appliances in the home but is more than that, with the ability to display reminders from personal calendars and stream music from its built-in speaker. The elegantly designed SmartThinQ Hub includes a 3.5-inch color LCD display and connects to a smartphone app to facilitate two way communication with smart appliances and smart sensors in the home.

The SmartThinQ Hub expands LG’s SmartThinQ platform to monitor and control home appliances such as washing machines, refrigerators, ovens, robotic vacuum cleaners, air conditioners and a variety of sensors. The SmartThinQ Hub plays a central role in LG’s smart home platform by collecting information from smart appliances as well as conventional devices connected to SmartThinQ sensors via Wi-Fi, Zigbee and Bluetooth. Data is displayed in the form of notifications on the LCD screen or announced through its embedded speaker, acting as the central “hub” of the smart home.

As like all other LG home appliances and consumer products, the LG SmartThinQ Hub is designed to look great in the home. The unit features a metallic body in two attractive color schemes: Champagne Gold and Black. The LCD display is tilted at an angle to be easily readable and the high-quality speaker can stream music from thousands of free stations from iHeartRadio or play whatever is on a smartphone or tablet via Bluetooth.

The SmartThinQ Hub is compatible with a number of devices from other manufacturers and service providers that support the AllJoyn® Alliance open source framework. LG recently formed a partnership with Lowe’s, the world’s second-largest hardware retail chain, to integrate LG’s smart devices with Lowe’s Iris smart home services. LG’s partnerships with other service providers are a key advantage of LG’s smart home system, which prioritizes compatibility across multiple brands. Such partnerships allow LG to offer packaged bundles that enhance safety, energy savings, air care or convenience that might include a SmartThinQ Hub, a SmartThinQ sensor and a variety of smart appliances and devices from other manufacturers such as smart lighting, motion sensors and moisture detecting sensors.

POPULAR LG TONE INFINIM™ HEADSET GETS UPDATED FOR 2016

World’s Favorite Around-the-Neck Wireless Audio Device Delivers Slimmer Design, Superior Sound

p view of the LG TONE Infinim™ in Rose Gold, Silver and Black

SEOUL, Dec. 29, 2015 — LG Electronics (LG) will unveil its newest LG Tone InfinimTM (HBS-910) at CES 2016 with a more contemporary design, superior audio quality and enhanced consumer convenience. Consumer availability in the United States will begin in February with key markets in Asia and Europe to follow soon after.

As an upgraded successor of the popular HBS-900, the new Tone Infinim inherits the previous model’s main strengths such as the wire retractable function and Harmon/Kardon® audio quality. The Tone Infinim delivers features and benefits not found on most competing wireless headsets such as a metallic body and long-lasting battery. With its upgraded Quad-Layer Speaker TechnologyTM, the new Tone Infinim delivers a premium audio experience with better balance across all sound ranges and enhancing the frequency response ratio for richer bass and crisper high notes.

Dealing with noisy environments such as crowded subways or city streets are no challenge for the new Tone Infinim. Dual cancelling microphones allow users to conduct calls in any environment. Along with the new HBS-910, LG is updating its free Tone & Talk Android app with two new features — Voice Memo and Find Me — that allow Tone Infinim to record conversations and help locate misplaced smartphones.

“The original Tone Infinim set a new standard for wireless headset design,” said Chung Sue-hyun, vice president of Innovative Personal Devices Business Division at LG Electronics. “We delivered an audio solution that offered days of battery life, a comfortable fit that didn’t fall off the neck when unused and most importantly, fantastic sound. It’s no wonder the LG Tone Infinim series is the most copied design in this product category.”

LG TO UNVEIL NEW DISHWASHER LOADED WITH LATEST FEATURES AT CES 2016

TrueSteam™ and MultiMotion Ensure Powerful, Efficient Cleaning with Less Water SpotsLG Dishwasher with its door slightly opened

SEOUL, Dec. 29, 2015 — At CES 2016, LG Electronics (LG) will unveil its most advanced dishwasher ever, model LDT8786ST, featuring TrueSteam and MultiMotion to clean dishes more thoroughly while making annoying water spots a thing of the past.

LG’s proprietary TrueSteam technology blasts dishes with a high-temperature cloud of steam to help provide superior washing results and fewer water spots. TrueSteam is designed to practically melt away even tough food residue such as burnt cheese, dried egg yolk and bacon grease. And lipstick on glassware and stubborn fingerprints are no match for the power of gentle steam.

Another feature found on the LDT8786ST, MultiMotion, uses an innovative wash arm to deliver more powerful, quicker, wash cycles. This robotic cleaning arm combines a circular sweeping action with powerful bi-directional spin to shoot water in every direction for sparkling clean dishes regardless of shape or location. MultiMotion also saves time, completing a full cycle in only 59 minutes.

Driven by LG’s powerful Inverter Direct Drive Motor, the LDT8786ST provides users with the cleaning power they demand, backed by a 10-year warranty. The Inverter Direct Drive Motor offers a unique Dual Zone option which adjusts the water spray intensity on each rack, allowing fragile glassware to be washed gently in the upper rack while heavily soiled pots and pans receive a more powerful wash in the lower rack in the same cycle.

LG’s newest dishwasher is also equipped with LG’s EasyRack™ Plus, which can be configured in a number of ways, providing customers with incredible flexibility. EasyRack Plus maximizes usable space and accommodates large and oddly shaped bowls, pans and other items. All three tiers are designed specifically for different types of tableware: the lower rack for plates, bowls, pots and pans; the upper rack for cups and wineglasses; the third rack for utensils and kitchen tools. With a single touch, the height of the upper rack can be easily adjusted to make room for larger utensils such as spatulas, whisks and salad tongs.

Smart functions allow customers to download customized cycles from the LG website and to notify users when the LDT8786ST needs to be cleaned. The dishwasher also comes equipped with Smart Diagnosis™ so customer service representatives can quickly troubleshoot mechanical issues remotely, reducing costly, time consuming home visits.

In addition to traditional stainless steel, LG’s new dishwasher will also be available in black which gives any kitchen a sleek and modern look. The micro LED display disappears completely from view when the dishwasher is off, complimenting the dishwasher’s minimalistic appearance.

“We have gone to great lengths to develop a dishwasher that gives customers the peace of mind they expect from LG appliances,” said Seong-jin Jo, president and CEO of the LG Electronics Home Appliance & Air Solution Company. “With the LDT8786ST, homeowners can feel confident entrusting LG with their tableware.”

LG’s new LDT8786ST dishwasher will be among those on display at LG’s booth in the Las Vegas Convention Center in Central Hall #8204 from Jan. 6-9 during CES 2016.

NEW LG CORDZERO™ VACUUM WITH AUGMENTED REALITY COMING TO CES 2016

Cutting-Edge Technologies Makes LG’s Cordless Vacuums
More Powerful, More Convenient

LG HOM-BOT and smartphone with hand visible showing its location

SEOUL, Dec. 21, 2015 LG Electronics (LG) will unveil an upgraded lineup of its CordZero™ collection at CES 2016 which will be headlined by HOM-BOT Turbo+, the industry’s first robotic vacuum cleaner equipped with augmented reality technology. Also included in the cordless vacuum collection are the CordZero™ Canister, the 2-in-1 CordZero™ handstick, as well as the CordZero™ Bedding Cleaner. Together, the CordZero™ collection provides a premium cleaning experience that is free of tangled cords and smarter.

HOM-BOT Turbo+: Smart Cleaning with Smart Technology

LG’s robotic vacuum cleaner, the HOM-BOT Turbo+, employs augmented reality technology in a smart feature called Home-Joy. This exciting new user interface allows consumers to issue instructions to the vacuum cleaner by intuitively designating areas that need extra cleaning using the camera of any smartphone. Simply tap on the part of the room in the image to clean and HOM-BOT Turbo+ goes to that exact location and begins cleaning.

HOM-BOT Turbo+ features Triple Eye™ camera sensors which record the surrounding area — including the ceiling — to track where it has already cleaned. The camera located on the front of the HOM-BOT Turbo+ enables other smart features such as Home-View and Home-Guard. The Home-View feature transmits a real-time feed to owners’ smartphones, enabling them to remotely control the HOM-BOT Turbo+ and clean the home anytime, anywhere. The Home-Guard feature gives consumers extra security and peace of mind by sending photos of inside the home to a paired smartphone when the HOM-BOT Turbo+ senses movement.

The HOM-BOT Turbo+ intelligently navigates consumers’ homes and avoids obstacles such as stairs thanks to Robonavi™, an intelligent software system that utilizes the robot’s dual CPUs to make lightning fast directional decisions. Both powerful and durable, LG’s latest smart vacuum with Smart Inverter Motor is backed by a 10-year warranty, ensuring long-lasting service.

CordZero™ Canister: No Cords, No Hassles

The LG CordZero™ Canister is powered by a new lithium-ion battery PowerPack™ 80V that provides powerful suction and continuous cleaning for up to 40 minutes in regular mode. With guaranteed advanced suction and cleaning performance that is nearly 10 percent more effective in clearning than a conventional 2,000 watt corded vacuum cleaner 1, this canister unit is powered by LG’s Smart Inverter Motor™ which is 76 percent smaller, 65 percent lighter and 24 percent more efficient on average than conventional vacuum motors.2

What’s more LG has equipped the CordZero™ Canister with a new ergonomic handle which was inspired by flight control sticks found in aircrafts. The new handle enables the vacuum to be easily maneuvered in all directions without placing the weight of the vacuum hose on a user’s wrist or back. Another advanced feature included in the CordZero™ Canister is the one-of-a-kind RoboSense™ technology. This feature eliminates the need to pull the vacuum cleaner body along while cleaning because the Automatic Location Recognition technology and Active Following Wheel technology allow the vacuum cleaner to track the user and follow at a constant distance.

Rounding out LG’s cordless vacuum lineup is the versatile CordZero™ Handstick with long-lasting Dual PowerPack™ battery and the CordZero™ Bedding Cleaner with the Dual Punch™ feature to keep mattresses and beds free of dust mites and harmful allergens.

“The powerful new technologies found on the latest LG CordZero™ products represent the company’s commitment to innovation and providing customers with a better life through better products,” said Jo Seong-jin, president and CEO of the LG Electronics Home Appliance & Air Solution Company. “The smarter, more convenient lifestyle offered by LG’s CordZero™ collection will appeal to every consumer and contribute to elevating LG’s position as a leader in the home appliance market.”
