SEOUL, Mar. 3, 201— LG Electronics (LG) is showcasing its various automotive products at the 85th Geneva International Motor Show in Geneva, Switzerland from March 3-15. In collaboration with top automotive design studio Italdesign Giugiaro, LG has contributed several of its products and technologies for the Gea concept car.

LG has supplied all in-car displays for the Gea. A 12.3-inch full HD IPS display, which handles instrument control and displays other information, is located at the center and on the passenger side of the car. In addition, there is a 6-inch curved HD Plastic OLED (P-OLED) display in the front and rear console.

LG’s technology is not limited to the inside as the company’s Surface Illumination (SI) LED technology decorates the tail lamp. Also, there are three rear cameras replacing conventional mirrors which can be seen only when they are being used.

The Gea is also compatible with LG’s latest smartwatch, the LG Watch Urbane LTE, which was newly introduced at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2015 in Barcelona. Through an exclusive app, the LG Watch Urbane LTE can get feeds and other information from the car, as well as be used to open and close the car’s door.

“I believe this collaboration is very meaningful for LG,” said Woo-jong Lee, president and CEO of LG Electronics Vehicle Components Company. “While cooperating with a firm as globally known as Italdesign Giugiaro, the partnership will definitely help LG to better understand smart cars, which will become more and more important market in the future.”

LG’S BROAD RANGE OF MOBILE INNOVATIONS ON DISPLAY AT MWC 2015

Four Distinct Booth Zones to Showcase Premium and

Mid-Range Smartphones, Wearables and IoT Services

Four models are smiling at a camera holding LG smartphones and LG Watch Urbane at LG booth of MWC.

BARCELONA, Mar. 2, 201— At this year’s Mobile World Congress (MWC) opening today in Barcelona, LG Electronics (LG) is showcasing a diverse collection of mobile innovations including the intriguing G Flex2, premium wearable devices and a new mid-range smartphone lineup. Under the theme of Innovation for a Better Life, these new products will be displayed in four distinct zones designed to represent LG’s strategy for the year ahead.

G Flex2 Zone: Redefining the Curve

The G Flex2 is LG’s most advanced smartphone on the market today, designed with a curved display that is both ergonomic and aesthetic. The 5.5-inch Full HD display adds excitement to the viewing experience by providing realistic and crisp images. Powerful performance and intuitive UX features round out the smartphone highlighting LG’s leadership in both design and the technology.

Mass-tier Lineup Zone: Affordable Premium

LG will unveil for the first time its new lineup of mid-range smartphones that are designed to bring the benefits and features of premium handsets to a broader range of consumers. All four models — Magna, Spirit, Leon and Joy — offer premium designs, in-cell touch displays and UX features of the G Series such as Gesture Shot and Glance View. The four devices will be available in both LTE and 3G versions for a perfect balance in style and usability.

Wearables Zone: Perfect Harmony of Fashion and Technology

LG will be showing two new smartwatch-styled wearable devices for the first time at MWC 2015. With a classical and cosmopolitan design, the LG Watch Urbane recaptures the beauty of a luxury timepiece. The LG Watch Urbane LTE is the world’s first smartwatch to offer LTE and NFC capabilities. This unique device can make VoLTE calls or send and receive data without connecting to a smartphone. And the LG Watch Urbane LTE can function as a walkie-talkie with its push-to-talk (PPT) feature to connect to multiple parties simultaneously. And with NFC, LG Watch Urbane LTE can make mobile payments and connect with today and tomorrow’s smart cars.

IoT Service Zone: Center of Our Mobile Lives

According to the Korea Electronics Technology Institute (KETI), LG Electronics filed 139 patents in the IoT space, the most of any Korean company and the fourth highest number of patents globally. LG’s expertise will be demonstrated in its IoT Service Zone at MWC. In collaboration with its sister carrier company LG U+, LG will show how G Flex2 can remotely control appliances and devices in today’s home. Through the G Flex2, residents can monitor their homes via closed circuit cameras when away and receive alerts via a smartphone message if there is an intrusion. Customers can also video chat with other family members in other parts of the house using the home network.

What’s more, LG and Audi will demonstrate how IoT can make the driving experience more convenient with help from LG Watch Urbane LTE. Using the NFC feature, drivers can lock and unlock their vehicles and start the engine from the watch. In the future, the LG watch will be able to calculate the remaining distance to a destination, provide directions and distance to the parked car as well as activating the climate control settings from outside the automobile.

“We are excited about this year’s MWC where we’ll be introducing a strong lineup of 170 products that represent LG’s varied technological interests,” said Juno Cho, president and CEO of LG Electronics Mobile Communications Company. “From smartphones to wearables to the Internet of Things, we are confident in our ability to not only participate, but to lead. Our presence here at Mobile World Congress will demonstrate that.”

LG’s booth at MWC 2015 is located at Hall 3 of Fira Gran Via. For more information about LG’s newest offerings, please visit www.LGnewsroom.com/MWC2015.

LG WATCH URBANE LTE BRINGS THE CAPABILITIES OF A SMARTPHONE AND MORE TO ONE’S WRIST

Make Calls, Send Messages and Get Push-to-Talk

Capability All Without a Smartphone

A front view of LG Watch Urbane LTE

SEOUL, Feb. 26, 201— In another example of its wireless expertise, LG Electronics (LG) will be unveiling the world’s first LTE-enabled smartwatch to Mobile World Congress (MWC) next week in Barcelona, Spain. The LG Watch Urbane LTE, a next-generation wearable watch, will also include NFC and a host of other features that have never been offered before on a smart device for the wrist.

As the fourth smartwatch from LG, the LG Watch Urbane LTE is the most ambitious. It offers the style and sophistication of a real analog watch and adds to this the highest level of micro-technology centered around a 1.3-inch Plastic-OLED display. Under the P-OLED display, the LG Watch Urbane LTE packs all the communication capabilities of a smartphone in a polished, metal wristwatch. Like any 4G phone, it can make and answer calls as well as send and receive text messages. With carrier support, the smartwatch offers push-to-talk (PTT) capability with other devices on the same cellular network so customers can use their LG Watch Urbane LTE as a walkie-talkie with unlimited range to talk to multiple parties at the same time.

At the core of the LG Watch Urbane LTE is the all new LG Wearable Platform operating system, developed specifically for the company’s proprietary wearable products. Beyond the OS, the smartwatch carries over most of the features of the acclaimed LG G Watch R, including a display with always-on ambient mode. Paired with the category’s largest 700mAh battery, the LG Watch Urbane LTE delivers impressively long talk and use times and can go for days in standby mode.

Three physical buttons on the right side of the smartwatch allows for easy access to a number of functions without having to swipe through multiple menu screens. The top button accesses the Quick Setting menu where the user can check and adjust battery usage, brightness, volume and connection settings. The main center button switches between the watchface and list of installed apps. The bottom button acts as the “Back” function when depressed quickly but becomes a safety beacon when long-pressed, automatically dialing any preset phone number as well as sending the location coordinates of the wearer.

The connectivity options offered by the LG Watch Urbane LTE is light years beyond the competition. NFC technology means wearers will have a virtual wallet on their wrist at all times. Users can make payments for meals, movie tickets and even transit fares faster and easier with their LG Watch Urbane LTE without ever taking out their wallets. Imagine being able to purchase movie tickets with the LG Watch Urbane LTE and then receiving a reminder of the movie a few hours in advance, all based on the payment information.

Even with all this technology, the LG Watch Urbane LTE isn’t afraid to be get physical. A built-in heart rate monitor and advanced motion sensors make tracking fitness goals easier than with a smartphone. In addition to the standard fitness coach, the LG Watch Urbane LTE also includes specialized features for golfers, cyclists and hikers. IP67 dust and waterproofing certification means the watch can be submerged in a meter of water for up to 30 minutes, making it safe for showers and exposure to perspiration.

Whether working out or working a room, access to several thousand watchfaces ensures that the LG Watch Urbane LTE can always be personalized to suit one’s taste and style of the moment, from the shape of the watch hands to the background, which can even be customized using photographs from a smartphone or tablet.

“The LG Watch Urbane LTE is an example of the kind of innovation that’s possible when you’re the industry leader in LTE technology,” said Juno Cho, president and CEO of LG Electronics Mobile Communications Company. “This smartwatch breaks new ground with the world’s first LTE connectivity and the real-watch styling of a high-end modern classic watch. It embodies our philosophy, innovation for a better life.”

LG TO LEAD PREMIUM TV MARKET WITH DUAL PREMIUM STRATEGY

Strategy Focuses on New TV Products with Extraordinary Picture Quality

Wide view of LG’s 2015 TV Launch Event.

SEOUL, Feb. 24, 201— LG Electronics (LG) today unveiled its 2015 global TV lineup in Seoul, announcing at the same time its DUAL PREMIUM strategy to focus on  the premium TV market with its new TV lineup. With its DUAL PREMIUM strategy, LG is confident it can secure a leading position in the global premium TV market with OLED TVs while simultaneously expanding the size of the premium TV segment to create more opportunities for its new PRIME UHD TVs.

Whole New Level of Display with Perfect Black, Perfect Color

LG unveiled a slate of new OLED TV units, including 55-, 65-, and 77-inch models with curved and flat screens. The company also introduced its ABCD concept to encapsulate the main benefits of the company’s cutting-edge OLED display technologies:

■ Angle (A) : LG OLED TVs assure that even viewers sitting off-center will enjoy exceptional picture quality.

■ Black (B) and Color (C) : The OLED lineup incorporates several advanced display features, including LG’s proprietary WRGB OLED technology. This ensures images are rendered with perfect blacks, striking colors and infinite contrast ratio.

■ Design (D) : LG’s Art Slim design philosophy focuses on creating the slimmest TV possible while keeping the overall aesthetic simple and clean.

With a winning combination of superior display technologies, LG’s OLED TV won the Best of CES award in the TV Product Category in January. As more and more high quality content becomes available, LG expects sales of its stunning OLED TV to grow as more discerning viewers look for higher quality products in which to view the content. With this in mind, LG plans to expand its OLED TV lineup in Korea from five to ten models to provide consumers with a greater selection of premium TV products.

PRIME UHD TV with Every Color Comes Alive

LG’s PRIME UHD TV, which is a tier above the company’s ULTRA HD TV, boasts features such as ColorPrime technology, ULTRA Luminance, 4K In-Plane Switching (IPS) panel and Prime Mastering Engine to offer a truly premium, cinema-like experience. LG’s ColorPrime technology magnifies the range of colors that can be displayed on screen by utilizing different LED phosphor colors, creating greater image depth and realism. ULTRA Luminance technology continuously analyzes the brightest and darkest parts of the displayed content in order to improve brightness and resolution. Equipped with LG’s 4K IPS panel, the TV renders detailed images at extremely wide viewing angles. What’s more, the Prime Mastering Engine optimizes the settings of the TV to boost picture quality to premium levels.

In addition, LG’s PRIME UHD TV (Model 55UF9500) comes with the stunningly thin 8.5mm UltraSlim Design display in an industry where competing displays are between 40 and 50mm in depth. LG’s integrated Auditorium Stand matches the metallic finish on the bezel around the screen. The stand also complements the centralized Harman / Kardon sound system by functioning as a sound reflector.

Outstanding User Experience via webOS 2.0

LG’s new webOS 2.0 Smart TV platform is an upgraded version of the company’s highly successful original webOS user interface. WebOS was originally designed under the “Make TV Simple Again” concept in an effort to counter the growing frustration with overly complex TV menu systems. Smart TVs equipped with webOS have been forecasted to top one million in unit sales within the first half of 2015.

“We’re excited to be introducing a comprehensive range of distinctive TV products that deliver stunning picture quality to communicate what we mean by premium,” said Brian Kwon, president and CEO of LG Electronics Home Entertainment Company. “LG OLED TVs and PRIME UHD TVs reinforce the brand as synonymous with picture quality. With these unparalleled home entertainment solutions, LG is finding itself in a very favorable position as the premium TV market leader.”

The company will launch its premium TVs in overseas markets beginning at the end of March.

LG’S NEW MID-RANGE SMARTPHONE LINEUP DELIVERS PREMIUM DESIGN, FEATURES

Better Grip, In-Cell Touch Display and Intuitive UX Offered in
LG’s New Range of Mass-Tier 3G and LTE Smartphones

From left to right; A back view of one of the new mid-range smartphones and fronts of Magna, Spirit, Leon, Joy

SEOUL, Feb. 23, 2015 — At this year’s Mobile World Congress (MWC), LG Electronics (LG) will unveil a new line of exceptional smartphones at exceptional prices with the introduction of mid-range handsets with design elements and features usually reserved for premium models.

LG’s new lineup of four mid-range smartphones — Magna, Spirit, Leon and Joy — builds on LG’s design language to bring optimized performance and effortless user experience to a broader range of consumers. By combining the most essential hardware with LG’s premium design elements and user experience, LG has created the perfect balance of style and usability. The LG Magna and LG Spirit are designed to fit more comfortably in palm of one’s hand with its gently curved design while their displays are distinguished by a subtle 3000mm radius curve for a sleeker, more attractive profile.

The four devices will be available in both LTE and 3G versions, consistent with LG’s strategy to expand its appeal in the mass-tier segment with different products for different networks. The LTE and 3G versions of each model share nearly identical design cues with metal looking back covers distinguishing the LTE models while the 3G devices feature patterned plastic back covers.

The LG Magna, which means “ultimate” in Latin, features a 5-inch in-cell touch display, normally offered only in premium smartphones, and a Quad-Core chipset. With an 8-megapixel main camera and 5-megapixel front shooter, the LG Magna was designed with high quality selfies in mind. A class leading 2,540mAh removable battery keeps the Magna running all day even with heavy use.

The LG Spirit, which embodies the spirit of LG’s innovations, features a 4.7-inch in-cell touch display and an 8-megapixel camera. In-cell touch technology makes the phones look slimmer while maximizing their display areas and minimizing the bezels. By bringing images closer to the screen, in-cell touch displays offer improved sensitivity with faster touch recognition, better outdoor visibility and crisper images.

The LG Leon, “lion” in Latin, offers a 4.5-inch display in a compact, premium-looking body. The smallest of the group, LG Joy, has a 4-inch display and delivers pure enjoyment in a smartphone that fits in any pocket.

With the new mid-range lineup, LG is carrying over popular UX features originally designed for its premium smartphones. Gesture Shot makes it easy to take great selfies with a simple hand gesture that starts a three-second countdown. LG has extended the distance from which the camera can recognize gestures to1.5 meters to accommodate popular selfie sticks. Glance View, which debuted on the G Flex2, lets users quickly access key information such as time, recent messages or missed calls with a simple downward swipe of the screen, even while the display is off.

“LG’s new mid-range collection continues our legacy of offering amazing smartphones at reasonable prices,” said Juno Cho, president and CEO of LG Electronics Mobile Communications Company. “For millions of consumers around the world, the deciding factor on which smartphone to buy isn’t how fast or how big it is but how balanced it is. With our new mid-range smartphones, more and more customers will be looking to LG for their next handsets.”

LG’s new mid-range collection will begin its global rollout this week in select markets. Visitors to MWC 2015 will be able to experience all of LG’s newest products firsthand at LG’s booth in Hall 3 of Fira Gran Via.

LG WATCH URBANE MELDS CLASSIC LOOK WITH ENHANCED FEATURES

Elegant, Full Metal Smartwatch from LG Coming to MWC 2015

Two LG Watch Urbanes in gold and silver colors.

SEOUL, Feb. 16, 2015 — LG Electronics (LG) will unveil its first all-metal luxury Android Wear device, LG Watch Urbane, at Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2015. As its name suggests, the smartwatch is designed for a sophisticated and cosmopolitan wearer that delivers unparalleled technology and performance. LG Watch Urbane is the perfect device for wearers looking to add both style and high-tech flare to their everyday lives.

The LG Watch Urbane follows closely in the footsteps of the LG G Watch R, the first smartwatch with a full circular Plastic OLED (P-OLED) display, which LG launched in October 2014. While the LG G Watch R was designed with the active user in mind, the LG Watch Urbane is more formal with a thinner profile making it perfect for either men or women. Resembling a luxury timepiece, LG combined a classic design and innovative features to add style and convenience to everyday life while raising the already high standards set by its predecessor.

The LG Watch Urbane is crafted around the same 1.3-inch full circle P-OLED display as the LG G Watch R but features a narrower bezel that gives it sleeker lines. The LG Watch Urbane has all of the hallmarks of a fine watch, making it the perfect fashion accessory. Its stainless steel body is available in polished silver and gold finish and is complemented by a beautifully stitched natural leather strap for a more classic look. The strap can be replaced with any 22mm wide band to suit the occasion or the wearer’s mood. Powering all of this is an intuitive touch-based user interface that makes the LG Watch Urbane compatible with smartphones running Android 4.3 and above.

Like the G Watch R, LG’s latest Android Wear device includes a photoplethysmography (PPG) sensor that can measure a wearer’s heart rate and average pulse during exercise. Always-On ambient mode shows the time on the display at all times in dimmed mode, saving battery life.

“The LG Watch Urbane’s classic design and smart features make it the perfect smartwatch to complement our G Watch and G Watch R, which were designed as more casual and active devices,” said Juno Cho, president and CEO of LG Electronics Mobile Communications Company. “LG Watch Urbane is an important part of our strategy to develop wearable devices that are worn and viewed as everyday accessories, not electronic gadgets.”

Additional details including price will be announced in local markets at the time of availability.

LG G3 AND GOOGLE CARDBOARD BRING MOBILE VIRTUAL REALITY TO EVERYDAY LIFE

More Consumers Get Access to Affordable and Powerful

VR Experience with LG’s VR for G3 Giveaway

The LG G3 leaning on a compatible VR headset.

SEOUL & MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif., Feb. 10, 2015 — LG Electronics (LG) and Google are making virtual reality (VR) more accessible to mainstream consumers. LG today announced a free VR for G3 giveaway for customers who purchase new LG G3 smartphones. LG’s VR for G3 works with Google Cardboard and enables G3 owners to experience a variety of VR-compatible apps and games that they can download on the Google Play store.

Unlike other head-mounted VR devices that are designed with their own processors and displays, VR for G3 takes advantage of the visual and sound capabilities of G3 to offer a lighter and more convenient solution. Thanks to the LG G3’s class-leading Quad HD display, VR for G3 is able to provide users with much sharper image quality for a smoother, more realistic VR experience.

VR for G3 features a unique design that leverages the G3’s signature Rear Key layout, compared to other smartphones where the volume rockers are located on the side of the phone. This unique design also means VR for G3 takes full advantage of the flagship phone’s 1W speaker with Boost AMP to provide richer, clearer sound effects that complement the rich visuals. For a more personal experience, VR for G3 can be combined with a Bluetooth headsets such as LG Tone Infinim™  for wireless enjoyment.

The design of VR for G3 is based on the blueprint for Google Cardboard, available online for home DIY fans. The neodymium ring magnet on the side of the VR for G3 works with the magnetic gyroscope sensor in the G3 to select applications and scroll through menus without touching the display. VR for G3 requires no assembly other than inserting the phone in the viewer.

SEOUL, Feb. 9, 201— LG Electronics (LG) is showcasing its innovative Business-to-Business (B2B) display products at Integrated Systems Europe (ISE) 2015 in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, from February 10-12. LG will introduce its commercial digital signage and TV lineup including its 105-inch ULTRA HD Signage display, the webOS display solutions, a commercial transparent display cooler door and more. LG’s industry-leading commercial display products will add enhanced efficiency for public spaces including retail stores, airports, schools, quick service restaurants (QSRs), hotels, hospitals and offices.

Smart Platform Signage and Hotel TV Solutions with webOS

LG will also introduce customers to its latest Smart Platform Signage lineup and hotel TV information solution running webOS. The platform enhances convenience by enabling system integrators to download useful content while allowing them to develop customized applications that fit their exact needs.

With webOS, LG’s Smart Platform Signage can be updated immediately via a smartphone or tablet. Wi-Fi connectivity eliminates the need for a wired internet connection or a costly internal network infrastructure. Not only does the webOS Hotel TV allow guests to receive information about the hotel’s facilities or nearby attractions, guests can also use it to watch movies and TV programs.

At ISE 2015, LG will also showcase its cutting-edge Room Management System (RMS) solutions. The technology enables TV devices to not only access useful information but also remotely control lighting, heating, air conditioning and even curtains, among others. Designed for ultimate convenience, a hotel guest can control every feature and condition of a room without ever getting out of bed.

Transparent Display Cooler Door for Complete Visual Information

ISE 2015 visitors will be introduced to the Transparent Display Cooler Door, which provides enhanced transparent range and brightness, while reducing electricity consumption. Advertising content can be displayed on the exterior of the cooler while customers can view products inside the cooler through the transparent display.

LG is also exhibiting Mirror Display, which incorporates a touchscreen in a full-length mirror. Enabling the Virtual Fitting function, users can try on different clothes without ever entering a dressing room. What’s more, the user can even change the color of the outfits by simply touching the display.

Ultra-wide ULTRA HD Digital Signage

LG will be unveiling an ultra-wide, ULTRA HD Digital Signage lineup with 84-, 98- and 105-inch screen sizes. All the products feature lifelike picture quality four times sharper than conventional full HD displays. The innovative Interactive White Board (IWB) function allows users at offices and schools to share meeting minutes or lesson plans via an internet-connected laptop or tablet. The IWB can also be controlled remotely by devices on the same network. Notably, the 84-inch model can detect up to ten touch points at the same time, allowing multiple users to interact with the display simultaneously.

“We are excited to introduce a convenience-enhancing, innovative digital signage product lineup for our global B2B customers at ISE 2015,” said Hyoung-sei Park, vice president and head of LG Home Entertainment Information Display Business Division. “We will be expanding our brand presence in the global commercial display market through established partnerships with prominent systems integration companies. We believe these efforts will prove to be invaluable in expanding our business opportunities.”

Visitors to ISE 2015 are encouraged to stop by LG’s booth (No. 11-K75) to see the company’s innovative solutions and products for themselves.

SEOUL, Jan. 29, 201— LG Electronics Inc. (LG) today announced net profit of KRW 501.40 billion (USD 474.81 million) for full-year 2014, an increase of 125 percent over 2013 net profit. Operating profit increased significantly in 2014 to KRW 1.83 trillion (USD 1.73 billion) from KRW 1.25 trillion (USD 1.14 billion) in 2013, an increase of 46 percent. Full-year consolidated revenue of KRW 59.04 trillion (USD 55.91 billion) was mainly boosted by a 24 percent increase in smartphone shipments.

Fourth-quarter 2014 consolidated revenue was KRW 15.27 trillion (USD 14.06 billion) with an operating profit of KRW 275.1 billion (USD 253.31 million), an increase of 28 percent from the same period the previous year. Net profit for the fourth quarter ending Dec. 31, 2014 showed a net loss of KRW 205.7 billion (USD 189.41 million) primarily due to the write-off resulting from the closure of LG’s plasma TV operations.

The LG Home Entertainment Company reported full-year operating profit of KRW 509 billion (USD 482.01 million), an increase of 31 percent year-on-year while full-year revenue increased slightly to 19.38 trillion (USD 18.35 billion). Fourth-quarter revenue increased 20 percent quarter-on-quarter to KRW 5.43 trillion (USD 5.00 billion) as a result of increased TV demand during the peak selling season in Europe, CIS and North America. Despite higher competition and weaker currency movements in emerging markets, the company is optimistic that the premium segment — OLED and ULTRA HD TVs — will continue to grow, along with the digital signage industry.

The LG Mobile Communications Company reported a 16 percent increase in annual revenue to KRW 15.06 trillion (USD 14.26 billion) with help from North America, where shipments increased 78 percent during the fourth quarter of 2014 from the previous year. Fourth-quarter revenue of 3.78 trillion (USD 3.48 billion) was 5 percent higher than the same period in 2013. A total of 59.1 million smartphones were shipped in 2014, an increase of 24 percent from the previous year, among 78.2 million mobile handsets sold last year. Expecting a challenging year ahead with greater competition globally from various manufacturers, LG will concentrate on improving its brand power, operating more efficiently, and focusing on selective key markets.

The LG Home Appliance Company reported full-year 2014 sales of KRW 11.54 trillion (USD 10.93 billion) where the company saw stronger sales in Europe and emerging markets such as the Middle East, Africa and Southeast Asia, offsetting somewhat slower sales in North America. Fourth-quarter revenue of 2.88 trillion (USD 2.65 billion) was up slightly from the same period 2013 while operating profit of KRW 85 billion (USD 78.27 million) was 64 percent higher quarter-on-quarter and up 2 percent from the same period the previous year. The company will respond to the expected sluggish overall demand this year by innovating in energy efficient products and improving cost competitiveness.

The LG Air Conditioning & Energy Solutions Company reported full-year revenue of KRW 4.56 trillion (USD 4.32 billion) and operating profit of KRW 255.1 billion (USD 241.57 million). Fourth-quarter sales of KRW 781.4 billion (USD 719.52 million) increased 9 percent from the same period in 2013, primarily due to incremental growth of commercial air-conditioners. LG plans to overcome the uncertainty of the global economy by improving cost and product competitiveness with more energy-efficient products.

SEOUL, Jan. 28, 2015 — LG Electronics has been named one the world’s most sustainable corporations by two leading research organizations, earning the top honor in its industry sector in both the 2015 Global 100 Most Sustainable Corporations in the World Index from Corporate Knights and the 2015 Sustainability Yearbook from RobecoSAM.

The 2015 Global 100 Most Sustainable Corporations in the World index, produced by Corporate Knights, recognizes the top overall sustainability performers in their respective industrial sectors. Considered the Gold Standard in corporate sustainability analysis, the 2015 Global 100 singled out LG as the only honoree in the Household Durables sector, while the company’s overall ranking improving significantly to 51st in 2015 from 82nd in 2014. Global 100 companies are scored on 12 quantitative key performance indicators that range from energy and water use, to product leadership and operational excellence to employee compensation and tax strategy.

In its 2015 Sustainability Yearbook, RobecoSAM honored LG with the top prize, the Gold Medal designation, in the highly competitive Leisure and Consumer Electronics category. RobecoSAM, which also works with S&P Dow Jones Indices to publish the globally recognized Dow Jones Sustainability Indices, named LG as one of only a handful of companies to be both a “Sustainability Leader” and “Sustainability Mover” in the 2015 Sustainability Yearbook. Companies that are recognized are evaluated on a wide range of factors, including economics, innovation, supply chain management, elimination of hazardous substances, energy efficient products, product stewardship and recycling, labor practices and stakeholder engagement.

“LG believes that forward thinking companies that adapt positively to a sustainable business agenda will be tomorrow’s leaders,” said Choong-hak Lee, executive vice president at LG Electronics. “We believe strongly in leaving as small an environment footprint as possible as we continue to develop lifestyle solutions for consumers and the residents of the communities in which we operate. We are honored to receive this recognition for our efforts.”
