EXPERIENCE “FLOWING SOUND” WITH SMART HI-FI AUDIO WIRELESS MULTI-ROOM SOLUTION FROM LG

Enjoy High Definition Music Playback Anywhere, Anytime

LG Music Flow Speaker models, H3, H5 and H7, with Soundbar model HS6 and Network Bridge model R1.

SEOUL, Aug. 20, 2014 — LG Electronics (LG) today announced the all-new LG Music Flow for music lovers worldwide. LG Music Flow Speakers (models H3, H5, H7), Soundbar (model HS6), Network Bridge (model R1) and the companion Music Flow Player application for smartphones form a convenient and smart Hi-Fi audio ecosystem for the home. Through the Music Flow Player app, users can centrally manage their entire digital music library, even if music is stored across multiple devices, and control all Music Flow units in the home. The app can also recommend songs and playlists, provide easy access to internet radio stations and function as a smartphone music player when the user is on the go.

LG Music Flow incorporates LG HomeChatTM, a unique service that brings a personal touch to human-device interaction. With HomeChat, users can use the popular smartphone messaging app Line to communicate with LG Music Flow in natural English. What’s more, users can enjoy the speed and simplicity of one-touch music enjoyment thanks to the NFC tag function, the first in a wireless Hi-Fi audio system for the home.

“LG Music Flow takes the fast-growing concept of wireless multi-room audio systems to a new level with its smart convenience and superior sound quality,” said Byung-hoon Min, senior vice president of the LG Home Entertainment Company audio-video division. “Our advanced system can create a personal soundtrack that not only follows the listener from room to room, but also when the user enters the home. LG engineers have set a whole new standard by introducing features and functions to the wireless audio system category that have never been available before on competing units.”

Auto Music Play1 is one of the many compelling features of the new LG Music Flow. With Auto Music Play, users can listen to music outdoors on a smartphone and automatically switch to Music Flow when arriving home. And with HomeChat integration, users can remotely ask LG Music Flow on the way home for song and playlist recommendations suitable for dinner guests arriving later that evening.

Another unique feature, LG Music Flow Player app, gives users full access and complete control of their digital music collections. Through the convenient search feature, music aficionados can find and play tracks stored on any internet-enabled device connected to LG Music Flow through the home Wi-Fi network. The app’s Mood Station feature can provide recommendations or automatically create a playlist to create a certain ambience. LG’s system facilitates easy access to internet streaming and radio applications such as Spotify, Deezer, Napster and TuneIn (services differ by market) via the Audio Streaming Service. With LG Music Flow and the Music Flow Player app, millions of songs are literally at the listener’s fingertips.

LG Music Flow employs mesh network technology and dual band Wi-Fi to ensure uninterrupted, crystal-clear HD music playback unlike competing systems that rely on a single access point which causes music interruptions and pauses whenever the signal level drops. Expanding LG Music Flow with additional speakers is an absolute breeze. Employ Multi-room Mode to seamlessly play the same song across all connected speakers during parties or a different song in each room when family members are home. Use L/R Stereo Mode for a more immersive listening experience or Home Cinema Mode for an enhanced movie viewing experience. Use L/R Stereo Mode for a more immersive listening experience or Home Cinema Mode for an enhanced movie viewing experience.

To guarantee optimal sound performance, LG developed and implemented a proprietary Automatic Loudness Compensation Algorithm in the Music Flow. This advanced software technology ensures audio strength and clarity across all frequencies. In addition, each speaker features an advanced nano-fiber pulp and foam paper diaphragm that further improves the quality of the sound. Unique to the HS6 Soundbar model, LG’s Stereo Field Extension (SFX) Algorithm creates a larger sweet spot and amplifies the surround sound effect.

In recent years, there has been an increase in consumer demand for superior sound in home audio devices as high-quality multimedia content becomes more and more available. LG Music Flow is the first system in its category to feature 24 bit/192kHz Hi-Fi playback across multiple inter-connectable devices that reproduces studio-like quality sound, far superior to a CD or digital MP3 music. Now consumers can hear a level of realism that hasn’t been possible before in a wireless multi-room audio system for the home.

LG Music Flow models H7 (70W), H5 (40W) and the Network Bridge model R1 will be available in the UK starting this month and in other markets in Europe following IFA 2014 Berlin in early September. LG Music Flow with model H3 (30W) and Soundbar model HS6 (320W) will be rolled out globally soon after.

Visitors to IFA 2014 can see the complete LG Music Flow collection for themselves at Hall 11.2 in Messe Berlin in early September. Until then, to see highlights of LG Music Flow’s main features, click on this video link — http://youtu.be/DxdNmA0JoSQ.

LG G3 UX TREATMENT TO BECOME STANDARDIZED ACROSS MID- TO ENTRY-LEVEL SMARTPHONES AND TABLETS

Simplified Camera and Updated Smart Keyboard

to Enhance LG’s Mobile Product Lineup

Fronts of various LG Smartphones and even tablets showing LG G3 UX’s features.

SEOUL, Aug. 19, 2014 — From entry-level to premium, LG has been actively working to provide a consistent and uniform user experience (UX) across its entire mobile product lineup. Toward that end, LG Electronics (LG) will begin standardizing its proprietary UX features, first introduced in the new LG G3, across most of the company’s mid- to entry-level smartphones and tablets launched in the second half of this year.

Since its worldwide unveiling in May, the LG G3’s UX features have been positively received by both customers and industry experts with many bestowing high praise for its user-friendly enhancements. The 2014 Red Dot Communication Design Award judges also applauded the LG G3, with a total of three “Best of the Best” awards for its intuitive UX features.

“With the basic principles of the G3’s UX features rooted in making complex technologies simple and convenient, our goal was to provide consumers with a user experience they genuinely need and want,” said Dr. Jong-seok Park, president and CEO of LG Electronics Mobile Communications Company. “Standardizing these features across our entry- and mid-tier mobile products is just a natural extension of our desire to make every LG device feel premium and unique.”

A simplified camera displaying only the most frequently used menus is one of the UX features that will be standardized across mid- and entry-level LG smartphones. One of the key camera features is Touch & Shoot, which helps capture special moments quickly and intuitively by letting users tap anywhere on the display to focus and trigger the shutter in one single step, eliminating a time-consuming two-step process. Gesture Shot makes taking selfies simple and fun. Opening and closing one’s hand in front of the lens starts a three-second countdown before triggering the shutter for brilliant, blur-free selfies. Clean View offers a full, clutter-free preview interface by removing all camera menu icons from the screen.

Another UX feature to be standardized is Smart Keyboard, which reduces input error by up to 75 percent by tracking and analyzing typing habits and intuitively “knowing” what words the user intended to type. The keyboard can be re-sized to better fit the user’s hands and thumbs. Suggested words, which appear above the keyboard, can be entered with just an upward flick of the thumb. Individual keys can be customized with frequently used symbols for even faster input. Long-pressing the space bar and sliding the thumb or finger left and right repositions the cursor for faster editing.

LG RECOGNIZED AT 2014 RED DOT AWARDS FOR INTUITIVE USER EXPERIENCE

G3 Smartphone Wins Three “Best of the Best” Awards

Demonstrating LG’s Leadership in UX Design

The Smart Keyboard, Knock Code and the graphic user interface (GUI) of the acclaimed LG G3 smartphone received “Best of the Best” awards at the reddot award 2014.

SEOUL, Aug. 18, 201— LG Electronics (LG) took home a total of nine Red Dot Awards in the Communication Design category. Among these, Smart Keyboard, Knock CodeTM and the graphic user interface (GUI) in the acclaimed LG G3 smartphone received “Best of the Best” awards. LG’s innovative webOS Smart+ TV platform was also recognized by the Red Dot judges for its new approach to smart TVs with an intuitive user interface that made for a viewing experience that is both seamless and refreshingly uncomplicated.

The internationally respected Red Dot Awards comprises three categories – Communication Design, Product Design and Design Concept. With 7,096 entries from 49 countries in the Communication Design category alone, the Red Dot Awards is one of the three most important competitions in the design industry, alongside iF Design Award and IDEA (International Design Excellence Award).

LG’s Smart Keyboard was introduced to the world on the LG G3, a smartphone that was developed under the Simple is the New Smart philosophy. In the same vein, Smart Keyboard helps to reduce input errors by as much as 75 percent. Through adaptive software that can analyze typing habits and predict word choices, Smart Keyboard makes typing faster and infinitely easier.

Knock Code™ was developed in response to consumer feedback that existing security systems on smartphones were cumbersome and time consuming. Knock Code™ lets LG smartphone owners wake and unlock their LG smartphones in one convenient step by employing a personalized series of taps instead of a password or nine-dot pattern. With more than 80,000 possible tap sequences to choose from, Knock Code™ is not only more secure, it’s more convenient.

The LG G3’s GUI provides an intuitive, more enjoyable, user experience. Redesigned from the ground up, the GUI features a clean, stylish appearance that adopts LG’s new flat and simple design language in sophisticated pastel colors with a distinctive circular motif consistent with the company’s iconic logo.

LG also won six additional awards in the Communication Design category, including the webOS Smart+ TV platform. LG’s innovative webOS Smart+ TV makes it quick and easy for users to switch from one content source to another, whether it’s a live TV broadcast, VoD service, Smart TV app or media file stored on a connected device. LG’s webOS also allows for easy content search and discovery and delivers a stress-free setup and connection process by introducing user to the friendly animated “BeanBird” character.

“The Red Dot Design Awards for excellence in user interface carry a great deal of meaning for us because enhancing the user experience is how we create value for the customer,” said Dr. Skott Ahn, LG’s Chief Technology Officer. “LG’s advanced capabilities in user experience come from a willingness to listen, learn and form a deep understanding of how people are using technology on a daily basis. We will continue to create solutions that improve consumers’ quality of life.”

LG’s flagship IPS 21:9 Curved UltraWide Monitor is a complete monitor solution, equally suited to the needs of professional users and home entertainment enthusiasts with extra screen real estate so users can get more done in less time. By adding a gentle curve to a 21:9 aspect ratio monitor, LG has created a unique product that delivers a more immersive experience. The Quad HD resolution display with 3440 x 1440 pixels gives digital photographers and filmmakers the level of detail and accuracy that their work demands. Compatible with both PCs and Macs, the LG 34UC97 monitor easily handles heavy graphics and videos with ease on either system and supports Thunderbolt™ 2 for high-speed data transfers — four times faster than USB 3.0 — and allows multiple devices to be daisy chained together. The monitor also features MAXXAUDIO® and 7W stereo speaker system guaranteed to deliver peak audio performance across all frequencies.

In addition to the world’s first 21:9 Curved UltraWide Monitor, LG will be unveiling its Digital Cinema 4K Monitor for the first time at this year’s IFA. LG’s Digital Cinema 4K Monitor meets the Digital Cinema Initiative’s standard for 4K resolution displays, squeezing 4096 x 2160 pixels into a 31-inch screen, for resolution equivalent to four Full HD monitors. The Digital Cinema 4K Monitor comes hardware calibration-ready and also features Dual Color Space and LG’s exclusive True Color Pro calibration software.

Gamers will especially appreciate LG’s 24GM77 new Gaming Monitor which is specifically designed to handle the fast-paced action of the latest first person shooters (FPS). A refresh rate of 144Hz ensures that even the most intense action appears smooth and flicker-free, while LG’s Dynamic Action Sync (DAS) Mode drastically cuts input lag, enabling the player to respond faster to what’s happening on the screen. Other notable features include Black Stabilizer for consistent blacks across different scenes and Game Mode, which offers three optimized settings that can be applied quickly by pressing a hotkey on the monitor, with the option to create customized presets. And Motion 240, developed exclusively for the Gaming Monitor, helps minimize motion blur with a fast response time of less than 1ms.

“Many people spend more time in front of computer monitors than they do in front of TV sets and yet the industry’s biggest monitor manufacturers don’t seem to innovate at the same pace as TV manufacturers,” said Hyoung-sei Park, head of the IT Business Division at LG Electronics’ Home Entertainment Company. “At LG, innovation in display technologies isn’t just limited to our market-leading TV products but are actively being implemented in our advanced PC monitors. And that’s why we’re particularly proud to be introducing at IFA the world’s first 21:9 Curved UltraWide monitor with a curved IPS display which delivers a wide 178-degree viewing angle for an immersive viewing experience.”

LG ANNOUNCES START OF SALES OF 105 INCH 21:9 CURVED ULTRA HD TV

With 5K Resolution and CinemaScope 21:9 Aspect Ratio,

LG’s Latest TV Redefines Immersive Viewing

A side view of LG 105-inch CURVED ULTRA HD TV

SEOUL, July 29, 2014 — First shown to the public at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in January, the 105-inch CURVED ULTRA HD TV from LG Electronics (LG) became available for pre-orders this week in South Korea. With a resolution of over 11 million pixels (5120 x 2160) and CinemaScope 21:9 aspect ratio, LG’s model 105UC9 TV delivers a truly immersive viewer experience with ultra-sharp, lifelike images and stunning virtual surround sound.

The LG CURVED ULTRA HD TV’s cinematic 21:9 aspect ratio LCD screen features 11 million pixels, five times more than on a Full HD TV. With such a high pixel density, images are rendered with a sharpness and clarity that has to be seen to be believed. The 105UC9 achieves its superior picture quality through LG’s True 4K Engine Pro and IPS 4K Panel. True 4K Engine Pro eliminates visual errors and can upscale lower-resolution content into near-Ultra HD quality while the IPS 4K Panel provides consistent contrast, true-to-life colors and a wide viewing angle.

“The vision behind LG’s 105-inch 21:9 CURVED ULTRA HD TV was to bring the movie theater into the living room,” said In-kyu Lee, senior vice president and head of the TV Division at LG’s Home Entertainment Company. “Featuring a curved 5K CinemaScope screen and a 7.2 channel speaker system, the 105UC9 is LG’s most spectacular ULTRA HD TV yet. This product pushes the envelope in home entertainment innovation and demonstrates what is possible when you bring today’s most advanced TV technologies together.”

LG’s TV also delivers incredible audio through a built-in 7.2 channel, 150W sound system. Incorporating LG’s ULTRA Surround concept and developed in partnership with premium audio products manufacturer Harman Kardon, the speaker array produces a powerful and rich audio experience. The multi-channel system complements the TV’s 21:9 CinemaScope screen with a sonic performance worthy of an actual movie theater.

With the same aspect ratio as a Hollywood motion picture, the 105UC9 CinemaScope 21:9 screen recreates the movie experience in the home. The curvature of the display has been carefully calibrated to maximize the immersive ambiance. What’s more, when viewing programs in 16:9 format, the unused screen space on the sides can display additional information or programming details to enhance the viewing experience.

The 105UC9 ensures an immensely satisfying user experience via LG Smart+TV, which is centered on the intuitive webOS platform. LG’s webOS makes everything simple and fast, whether it’s switching between content, discovering exciting new shows, apps and services, or connecting to media stored on external devices. And with the help of the friendly, animated BeanBird character, webOS also makes the initial setup and connection process quicker and a lot more enjoyable. And by combining Film Patterned Retarder (FPR) 3D technology with extremely high picture resolution, LG’s 4K 3D+ feature offers unobtrusive and compelling 3D viewing pleasure. And thanks to the 4K 3D Upscaler, content in SD, HD and Full HD is converted into crystal-clear, near-Ultra HD resolution.

The LG 105UC9 will be rolled out in other markets from the fourth quarter. Prices and exact dates of availability will be announced locally.

LG ELECTRONICS’ STRONG QUARTERLY RESULTS REFLECT TURNAROUND OF MOBILE BUSINESS

Success of LG G3 Contributes to Record Smartphone Shipments in Quarter

A picture of LG Twin Towers in the daytime

SEOUL, July 24, 201— LG Electronics Inc. (LG) announced a 165 percent increase in second-quarter net profit compared with the same period last year, reflecting strong earnings from both the TV and mobile operations. LG reported second-quarter 2014 net profit of KRW 412 billion (USD 399.8 million) and operating profit of KRW 606 billion (USD 588.5million), an increase of 26.5 percent year-over-year. Unaudited second quarter consolidated revenues of KRW 15.37 trillion (USD 14.93 billion) increased 7.7 percent from the previous quarter.

The LG Home Entertainment Company saw steady performance with second-quarter revenues of KRW 5.09 trillion (USD 4.94 billion), a 3 percent increase quarter-over-quarter and almost unchanged from the same quarter 2013. Operating profit of KRW 154.5 billion (USD 150 million) was an increase of 64.9 percent from the same quarter last year as a result of better product mix and lower fixed costs. Demand for Ultra HD TVs in key markets will continue to drive LCD TV revenue growth. The B2B market, led by monitors and digital signage, also is expected to contribute to LG’s growth in this segment.

The LG Mobile Communications Company shipped a record-high 14.5 million smartphones in the second quarter, a 20 percent increase year-over-year with LTE products accounting for more than one-third of all LG smartphones sold this year. As a result, sales increased 16 percent from the same period last year to KRW 3.62 trillion (USD 3.51 billion), the highest since the first quarter of 2010. The mobile division’s operating profit of KRW 85.9 billion (USD 83.4 million) in the second quarter put an end to three consecutive quarters of losses. Much of the success was due to the initial popularity of the LG G3 in the Korean market and strong sales of L SeriesIII smartphones. LG plans to continue its global rollout of the G3 and introduce more mass tier products in the second half, including variations of the LG G3, such as the recently announced G3 Beat, and additional L Series models.

The LG Home Appliance Company reported strong sales in the Korean market with sales increasing 9 percent from the same quarter the previous year. Second-quarter revenue of KRW 3.03 trillion (USD 2.94 billion) was 5 percent lower compared with the same period last year due to unfavorable foreign currency exchange movement especially in developing markets. An improvement in cost structure resulted in the LG Home Appliance Company recording operating profit of KRW 97.8 billion (USD 95.0 million) and profit margin of 3.2 percent. LG expects revenues and profitability for home appliances to increase in the second half due to the launch of market-leading washing machine and refrigerator products and the effect of cost reductions.

The LG Air Conditioning & Energy Solution Company recorded steady sales of commercial air conditioners and new products such as dehumidifiers with revenues of KRW 1.64 trillion (USD 1.59 billion) and operating profit of KRW 164.2 billion (USD 159.4 million) in the second quarter. Despite slightly lower revenues than the same period last year, an improved product mix resulted in a profit margin of 10 percent in the second quarter, and second-half results are expected to benefit from increased demand in the Middle East, rollout of additional variable refrigerant flow (VRF) air conditioning products and stronger cost competitiveness in commercial air conditioners.

2014 2Q Exchange Rates Explained

LG Electronics’ unaudited quarterly earnings results are based on IFRS (International Financial Reporting Standards) for the three-month period ending June 30, 2014. Amounts in Korean won (KRW) are translated into U.S. dollars (USD) at the average rate of the three-month period of the corresponding quarter — KRW 1,030 per USD (2014 2Q).

The LG G3 Beat features the Floating Arc Design first unveiled on the LG G3, boasting smooth curved sides and gradually tapered edges for the ultimate comfort in grip and feel.

Highlights of the LG G3 Beat include:

LG REDEFINES TYPING EXPERIENCE WITH LG’S SMART KEYBOARD UPDATE

Upgrade Includes Innovative and Intelligent Features to Make Typing Less Tedious

Logo of LG Electronics

SEOUL, July 10, 2014 — LG Electronics’ (LG) universally praised Smart Keyboard for G3 will receive a significant update following its global rollout. The additional features will give G3 owners a host of enhancements which have rarely been found on OEM keyboards.

LG Smart Keyboard has been praised for its adaptive technology of analyzing the typing habits of its users to facilitate faster typing with fewer mistakes. Smart Keyboard intuitively predicts words and lets users personalize the keyboard by adjusting the height to better fit their hands and position of their thumbs. Now, LG G3 owners will be able to enjoy a selection of new features from the latest update such as:

■ Emoji Suggestion recommends the most appropriate emoticon to represent a specific word, giving users more ways to express themselves. For instance, typing “love” will result in the Smart Keyboard recommending the heart symbol from its Emoji database.

■ Application-based Text Tone Suggestion learns from users’ typing habits and suggests the most commonly used words depending on the application. For example, if the user frequently starts emails with “Dear,” then this is the word that will likely be recommended next time. But if the owner normally starts text messages with a “Hi,” then that is what will be recommended the next time the user opens the messenger app. Priority levels of suggested words and expressions are dependent on how often the words are used on each specific application.

■ Next Word Suggestion uses contextual analysis and studies the user’s style over time to suggest the next word or symbol, making the typing experience faster and much more convenient.

■ Bilingual Word Suggestion automatically detects and changes to the correct language without requiring the user to manually switch languages. Smart Keyboard is intelligent enough to know what language the owner is attempting to type.

ï¿ Real-time Path Input lets users enter text by fluidly tracing their finger in one continuous motion across the keyboard. Smart Keyboard will display recommended words in real time as the word is being traced. LG’s Smart Keyboard displays the suggestions in real time, as the words are being traced.

“While Smart Keyboard is just one piece of a larger UX, it’s a significant feature in that it improves upon a very fundamental feature that all smartphone owners do — typing on a cramped keyboard,” said Dr. Jong-seok Park, president and CEO of LG Electronics Mobile Communications Company. “From the very beginning of G3’s development, we tried to learn as much as we could about the way consumers interact with their smartphones. This Smart Keyboard update is a clear example of LG’s continuing effort to provide a better and improved user experience.”

The Smart Keyboard application update will begin this month via LG’s update center. LG G3 owners should check with their local operators for the exact schedule of availability. For a detailed look at LG’s improved Smart Keyboard for G3 in action, go to http://youtu.be/3uMMw6OHknk.

INTRODUCING LG KIZON, A WEARABLE DESIGNED FOR KIDS

LG’s Newest Wearable Gives Parents Peace of Mind

Front views of LG KizONs in pink and blue colors

SEOUL, July 9, 2014 — LG Electronics (LG) will extend the wearable experience to parents with children with its new KizON wristband. KizON is LG’s new wearable designed exclusively for pre-school and primary school children that offers parents a convenient way to keep track of their young children’s whereabouts. Utilizing GPS and Wi-Fi, KizON provides real-time location information allowing parents to track their children’s whereabouts on a smartphone.

With One Step Direct Call, parents can easily communicate with their children as well as providing them with information on the location of their children throughout the day. And parents aren’t the only ones who can use KizON to communicate with a loved one. With one press of the One Step Direct Call button, children can also dial a pre-configured phone number, which can be changed at any time through a smartphone running Android 4.1 or higher. If the child fails to answer a call from any of the pre-configured numbers within ten seconds, KizON will automatically connect the call to let the parents listen through the built-in microphone. Another important function of KizON is Location Reminder, which gives adults the ability to pre-set the device to provide location alerts at specific times throughout the day.

Battery life for KizON is rated for 36 hours and parents will be alerted via their smartphones when the battery in KizON needs to be recharged. The band is constructed of eco-friendly polythiourethane (PTU) material that is water-resistant as well as stain resistant. A wide range of accessories featuring popular animation characters will be available for KizON, which comes in three attractive colors: blue, pink and green.

“Children as well as the elderly are ideal customers for wearable technologies,” said Dr. Jong-seok Park, president and CEO of LG Electronics Mobile Communications Company. “Wearables allow us to stay connected without the worry of losing a device or the inconvenience of having to carry a large item in a pocket. At LG, we’re committed to exploring more ways to incorporate wearable devices into consumers lives in line with our vision to become a leader in wearables.”

KizON will make its public debut in South Korea on July 10 before its introduction in North America and Europe later this year. Details of availability and price will be announced locally.

LG BRINGS ENERGY EFFICIENCY TO BRAZIL’S ARENA DA BAIXADA FOR FULL FOOTBALL ENJOYMENT

LG’s Multi V System Delivers Energy Efficiency and Powerful Performance

The outdoor units of LG’s high energy-efficient Variable Refrigerant Flow (VRF) system, the Multi V in the Estádio Joaquim Américo Guimarães (Arena da Baixada.)

SEOUL, Jul. 08, 2014 In Curitiba, Brazil, the Estádio Joaquim Américo Guimarães — better known to fans as Arena da Baixada — was renovated this year to host four international football matches. Among the improvements made were the addition of extra seats as well as enclosing the stadium with a retractable roof, resulting in an increased capacity of 40,000. Since the matches would be played during the hot summer month of June, the stadium’s developers selected LG Electronics (LG) to install its highly energy-efficient Variable Refrigerant Flow (VRF) system, the Multi V, in the administrative, seating and concession areas of the stadium.

Arena da Baixada is the first stadium in the world to be equipped with LG’s Multi V system. Once integrated into the facility, the Multi V solution enabled the stadium to reach target energy efficiency levels exceeding the US standard ASHRAE 90.1 baseline. The Multi V possesses an outstanding coefficient of performance (COP) of 4.6, which over time will help the stadium achieve an excellent return on investment. The system also uses R-410A, a refrigerant, and boasts Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certification, developed by the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC).

The Arena da Baixada project was particularly challenging because controlling the temperature needed to be efficient but also flexible between different sections of the stadium. A total of 70 outdoor units (ODUs), each with a capacity between 8HP to 20HP, and 198 indoor units (IDUs), including ceiling cassette and duct IDUs, were installed along with 85 fans and exhausts. The resulting combination of ODUs and IDUs achieved the desired results both in terms of effectiveness and versatility.

“We are very proud to have our commercial air conditioning system installed in one of the greatest football stadiums in Brazil,” said Jae-sung Lee, head of the LG Air Conditioning and Energy Solution Company’s System Air Conditioning (SAC) Business Division. “As a total HVAC solutions provider, we pride ourselves on being able to meet the needs of all customers, both big and small. Being a part of this stadium and its incredible history during one of the greatest sporting events in the world is a true honor.”

While much of the success has to be attributed to the cutting-edge technology in the VRF system, LG’s ability to work closely with the client and manage the project from start to finish was a key element. Once the installation was complete, LG provided a full package of technical training and operational support with a guarantee that when the games were underway, the air conditioning would work.

SEOUL, July 7, 2014 — LG Electronics (LG) announced today the global launch of the LG G Pad 10.1, its largest tablet in the G Pad series (http://goo.gl/Rr9abb). The LG G Pad 10.1 is perfect for on-the-go media consumption as it boasts an expansive, widescreen display powered by an 8,000mAh battery that gives users an immersive multimedia experience and endless hours of entertainment.

The LG G Pad series offers just the right balance of performance, personality and price to fill the gap between entry level and premium tablets. In an effort to give consumers the best experience across its entire portfolio of devices, the new LG G Pad series will come preloaded with the best of the G series’ premium user experience(UX), including a host of features carried over from the LG G3, such as Touch & Shoot, Gesture Shot, Smart Keyboard and Dual Window.

Highlights of the LG G3’s advanced UX features included in the G Pad 10.1 are:

■ Touch & Shoot: Tapping anywhere on the display will focus and activate the shutter in a single step, saving time and that once-in-a-lifetime shot.

■ Gesture Shot for Selfies: Simply clenching the free hand into a fist within the shot frame will automatically begin a three-second countdown before snapping the picture for a blur-free photo.

■ Smart Keyboard: Reduces input errors by up to 75 percent by tracking and analyzing typing habits and intuitively “knowing” what word the user intended to type.

■ Dual Window: Splits the tablet screen and runs two applications at the same time, dragging and dropping content from one window to the other for effortless multitasking.

LG G Pad devices include unique features to deliver easy connectivity and security. LG makes connectivity more convenient with QPair 2.0, which provides seamless convergence between Android-powered tablets and smartphones via a simple Bluetooth connection. With QPair 2.0, users can receive notifications of calls and messages on a smartphone and reply or answer the call directly from the G Pad.

Knock Code™, the popular and acclaimed security feature that combines powering on and unlocking into one quick step, allows up to four users to register their knock patterns so family members can share the same tablet while still being able to keep their data and photos private.

“Consumers use tablets differently from smartphones and we wanted to highlight the important role of entertainment in the new LG G Pad 10.1,” said Dr. Jong-seok Park, president and CEO of the LG Electronics Mobile Communications Company. “Tablets are increasingly being used as companion devices, which is why we made connecting the LG G Pad 10.1 to other devices so easy and convenient and why LG G Pad 10.1 offers the best core technologies of our G series smartphones.”
