SEOUL, Feb. 9, 201— LG Electronics (LG) is showcasing its innovative Business-to-Business (B2B) display products at Integrated Systems Europe (ISE) 2015 in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, from February 10-12. LG will introduce its commercial digital signage and TV lineup including its 105-inch ULTRA HD Signage display, the webOS display solutions, a commercial transparent display cooler door and more. LG’s industry-leading commercial display products will add enhanced efficiency for public spaces including retail stores, airports, schools, quick service restaurants (QSRs), hotels, hospitals and offices.

Smart Platform Signage and Hotel TV Solutions with webOS

LG will also introduce customers to its latest Smart Platform Signage lineup and hotel TV information solution running webOS. The platform enhances convenience by enabling system integrators to download useful content while allowing them to develop customized applications that fit their exact needs.

With webOS, LG’s Smart Platform Signage can be updated immediately via a smartphone or tablet. Wi-Fi connectivity eliminates the need for a wired internet connection or a costly internal network infrastructure. Not only does the webOS Hotel TV allow guests to receive information about the hotel’s facilities or nearby attractions, guests can also use it to watch movies and TV programs.

At ISE 2015, LG will also showcase its cutting-edge Room Management System (RMS) solutions. The technology enables TV devices to not only access useful information but also remotely control lighting, heating, air conditioning and even curtains, among others. Designed for ultimate convenience, a hotel guest can control every feature and condition of a room without ever getting out of bed.

Transparent Display Cooler Door for Complete Visual Information

ISE 2015 visitors will be introduced to the Transparent Display Cooler Door, which provides enhanced transparent range and brightness, while reducing electricity consumption. Advertising content can be displayed on the exterior of the cooler while customers can view products inside the cooler through the transparent display.

LG is also exhibiting Mirror Display, which incorporates a touchscreen in a full-length mirror. Enabling the Virtual Fitting function, users can try on different clothes without ever entering a dressing room. What’s more, the user can even change the color of the outfits by simply touching the display.

Ultra-wide ULTRA HD Digital Signage

LG will be unveiling an ultra-wide, ULTRA HD Digital Signage lineup with 84-, 98- and 105-inch screen sizes. All the products feature lifelike picture quality four times sharper than conventional full HD displays. The innovative Interactive White Board (IWB) function allows users at offices and schools to share meeting minutes or lesson plans via an internet-connected laptop or tablet. The IWB can also be controlled remotely by devices on the same network. Notably, the 84-inch model can detect up to ten touch points at the same time, allowing multiple users to interact with the display simultaneously.

“We are excited to introduce a convenience-enhancing, innovative digital signage product lineup for our global B2B customers at ISE 2015,” said Hyoung-sei Park, vice president and head of LG Home Entertainment Information Display Business Division. “We will be expanding our brand presence in the global commercial display market through established partnerships with prominent systems integration companies. We believe these efforts will prove to be invaluable in expanding our business opportunities.”

Visitors to ISE 2015 are encouraged to stop by LG’s booth (No. 11-K75) to see the company’s innovative solutions and products for themselves.

LG REPORTS 2014 FINANCIAL RESULTS; NET PROFIT SOARS 125 PERCENT

24 Percent Jump in LG Smartphone Shipments
Contributes to Company’s Improved Profitability

A picture of LG Twin Towers in the daytime

SEOUL, Jan. 29, 201— LG Electronics Inc. (LG) today announced net profit of KRW 501.40 billion (USD 474.81 million) for full-year 2014, an increase of 125 percent over 2013 net profit. Operating profit increased significantly in 2014 to KRW 1.83 trillion (USD 1.73 billion) from KRW 1.25 trillion (USD 1.14 billion) in 2013, an increase of 46 percent. Full-year consolidated revenue of KRW 59.04 trillion (USD 55.91 billion) was mainly boosted by a 24 percent increase in smartphone shipments.

Fourth-quarter 2014 consolidated revenue was KRW 15.27 trillion (USD 14.06 billion) with an operating profit of KRW 275.1 billion (USD 253.31 million), an increase of 28 percent from the same period the previous year. Net profit for the fourth quarter ending Dec. 31, 2014 showed a net loss of KRW 205.7 billion (USD 189.41 million) primarily due to the write-off resulting from the closure of LG’s plasma TV operations.

The LG Home Entertainment Company reported full-year operating profit of KRW 509 billion (USD 482.01 million), an increase of 31 percent year-on-year while full-year revenue increased slightly to 19.38 trillion (USD 18.35 billion). Fourth-quarter revenue increased 20 percent quarter-on-quarter to KRW 5.43 trillion (USD 5.00 billion) as a result of increased TV demand during the peak selling season in Europe, CIS and North America. Despite higher competition and weaker currency movements in emerging markets, the company is optimistic that the premium segment — OLED and ULTRA HD TVs — will continue to grow, along with the digital signage industry.

The LG Mobile Communications Company reported a 16 percent increase in annual revenue to KRW 15.06 trillion (USD 14.26 billion) with help from North America, where shipments increased 78 percent during the fourth quarter of 2014 from the previous year. Fourth-quarter revenue of 3.78 trillion (USD 3.48 billion) was 5 percent higher than the same period in 2013. A total of 59.1 million smartphones were shipped in 2014, an increase of 24 percent from the previous year, among 78.2 million mobile handsets sold last year. Expecting a challenging year ahead with greater competition globally from various manufacturers, LG will concentrate on improving its brand power, operating more efficiently, and focusing on selective key markets.

The LG Home Appliance Company reported full-year 2014 sales of KRW 11.54 trillion (USD 10.93 billion) where the company saw stronger sales in Europe and emerging markets such as the Middle East, Africa and Southeast Asia, offsetting somewhat slower sales in North America. Fourth-quarter revenue of 2.88 trillion (USD 2.65 billion) was up slightly from the same period 2013 while operating profit of KRW 85 billion (USD 78.27 million) was 64 percent higher quarter-on-quarter and up 2 percent from the same period the previous year. The company will respond to the expected sluggish overall demand this year by innovating in energy efficient products and improving cost competitiveness.

The LG Air Conditioning & Energy Solutions Company reported full-year revenue of KRW 4.56 trillion (USD 4.32 billion) and operating profit of KRW 255.1 billion (USD 241.57 million). Fourth-quarter sales of KRW 781.4 billion (USD 719.52 million) increased 9 percent from the same period in 2013, primarily due to incremental growth of commercial air-conditioners. LG plans to overcome the uncertainty of the global economy by improving cost and product competitiveness with more energy-efficient products.

NEW LG HOME ENTERTAINMENT COMPANY CEO REVEALS BUSINESS STRATEGIES FOR 2015

Expanded OLED and 4K ULTRA HD TV Lineups, Impressive webOS 2.0 Platform
and More Competitive AV and IT Business Point to Bright Future for LG

LG Home Entertainment Company CEO, Brian Kwon, outlines the company’s TV technology along with product and marketing plans for the coming year at International CES 2015.

LAS VEGAS, Jan. 7, 2015 ― LG Electronics (LG) today revealed its 2015 consumer electronics business strategy focused on leveraging LG’s industry-leading, value-added products to expand business opportunities in the United States and around the world. At a VIP media roundtable during the 2015 International CES, Brian Kwon, the new Executive Vice President and CEO of the LG Home Entertainment Company, outlined the company’s TV technology, product and marketing plans for the coming year, aggressive strategies designed to further enhance LG’s competitiveness and profitability.

“We are determined to create further growth momentum in next-generation home entertainment business areas by providing innovative solutions and services,” said Kwon. “We will heighten LG brand’s profile in markets across the world by developing highly differentiated, world-class products, including our OLED TVs and ULTRA HD TVs. At the same time, we’ll enhance the convergence strategy allowing us to move toward integrating an array of new Internet of Things (IoT) solutions that will enable our customers to connect their TVs to multiple devices more seamlessly,” he said.

Addressing current global TV market conditions, Kwon noted that LG’s emphasis on product and cost competitiveness will put the company in a more favorable position to ward off increased competition from China and protect itself from the repercussions of the weaker Japanese Yen. “We’re implementing a series of marketing and product strategies to better position LG in light of this intense competition.”

Kwon cited four overarching strategies designed to solidify LG’s leadership role in the home entertainment market: (1) leading the global OLED TV market, (2) expanding LG’s penetration in the 4K ULTRA HD TV market, (3) securing a dominant position in providing outstanding user experiences, and (4) strengthening the product competitiveness of its IT and AV product lines.

Leading the Global OLED TV Market

“In 2014, LG focused on gaining business momentum and positioning itself for the future by actively promoting our flagship OLED TV lineup,” said Kwon. “This year, we intend to significantly expand the market penetration of LG OLED TVs which have been receiving superb reviews as the next generation TV. LG OLED means perfect blacks, perfect colors and a breathtaking viewing experience. Collectively, our OLED technologies will propel us forward as a trusted leader in the global premium TV market.”

LG launched the industry’s first 4K OLED TVs in August 2014. Further demonstrating its technological capabilities for 2015, LG unveiled a slate of new OLED TVs at the 2015 CES, including 77-, 65- and 55-inch class models with curved, flat and flexible displays. LG is aiming to consolidate a global manufacturing system dedicated to OLED production in North America, Central and South America, Europe and Asia. Kwon noted that he is looking to increase the company’s investment in OLED technology and sister company LG Display has already injected KRW 700 billion into upgrading its manufacturing facilities to produce larger OLED panels as part of this effort.

At the same time, LG is focused on further improving the price competitiveness of its OLED TVs via the synergy created among LG affiliates, as well as with improved components and advanced manufacturing technologies, Kwon explained. Collectively, these endeavors will drive OLED TV sales growth and allow more consumers to experience the advantages of LG’s OLED technology over alternatives in the premium TV market. Meanwhile, LG will be expanding its OLED TV lineup, increasing supply to meet market demands and implementing an aggressive marketing strategy that includes strategic alliances with key retailers in each region.

Expanding 4K ULTRA HD TV’s Market Penetration

At the 2015 International CES, LG is introducing the ColorPrime TV series. The series includes LG’s highly praised 4K ULTRA HD TV products, which boast an enhanced color reproduction range, world class designs, rich sound quality and the company’s new, user-convenient webOS 2.0 Smart TV platform. The ColorPrime series also include 4K ULTRA HD TVs featuring Quantum Dot technology which further demonstrate LG’s commitment to bringing cutting-edge technology to consumers.

“Overall, CES is a great opportunity for customers to familiarize themselves with all of LG’s impressive 4K ULTRA HD TV offerings,” Kwon said. LG’s expended lineup includes display sizes ranging from 40 to 105 inches, and the displays themselves come in curved and flat variations, including highly innovative technologies that are setting LG apart from competing manufacturers.

With this in mind, LG plans to rapidly increase its global 4K ULTRA HD TV market share in 2015 and beyond. LG is also looking forward to strengthening its marketing capabilities via joint efforts among of its affiliates covering a comprehensive range of business areas, including R&D, product planning, sales and marketing.

Outstanding User Experiences via webOS 2.0

LG’s new webOS 2.0 Smart TV platform, unveiled at CES 2015, is an upgraded version of the company’s highly successful original webOS platform. Kwon said this latest iteration is helping LG maintain its leadership in providing consumers with a user experience that is both compelling and ultimately rewarding. LG’s webOS was initially designed under the “Make TV Simple Again” concept in an effort to counter the growing frustration with overly complex systems. LG’s webOS-enabled Smart TVs forecast to top 1 million mark in unit sales within the first half of 2015.

Strengthened AV and IT Product Competitiveness

For 2015, LG is taking steps to revamp the structure of its home theater and video-related businesses to improve their profitability. These steps include enhancing marketing activities for high-end monitors such as the 21:9 UltraWide monitors, curved monitors and ULTRA HD display monitors. LG will also focus on improving the company’s growth momentum by actively marketing its new soundbars and multi-room audio products, which are steadily gaining in popularity among consumers. At the same time, LG will continue to seek new business opportunities by harnessing the company’s technological capabilities in IT convergence and IoT-based Smart Home innovations.

LG UNVEILS EXPANDED OLED TV LINEUP AT CES 2015

First to Bring 4K OLED to Market, LG Aims to Make OLED a Household Word

Three LG 4K OLED TVs displayed at International CES 2015.

LAS VEGAS, Jan. 5, 2015 — Following the debut of the world’s first 4K OLED TVs in 2014, LG Electronics (LG) is unveiling its expanded OLED TV lineup at the 2015 International CES®, which starts here tomorrow. With seven different new 4K OLED TVs — flexible, curved and flat models spanning 55 (54.6 inches diagonally), 65 (64.5 inches diagonally) and 77 (76.7 inches diagonally) inches in display size — LG OLED TVs continue to be in a class of their own, offering consumers a whole new viewing experience inspired by picture quality with perfect blacks and colors.

All of LG’s 2015 4K OLED TVs utilize the company’s proprietary WRGB technology. This pixel structure adds a white sub pixel, which allows for expanded, lifelike colors. These TVs incorporate features that ensure images are rendered with perfect blacks and perfect colors, and an infinite contrast ratio. LG’s Optimized True Color technology regulates color stability regardless of variations in brightness and delivers a superb viewing experience with more natural, comfortable colors. With a maximum response time of 0.001ms, LG’s OLED TVs are more than 1,000 times faster than conventional LCD flat panel TVs. LG OLED TVs assure that even viewers sitting off-axis will enjoy exceptional picture quality at wide viewing angles, unlike most LCD TVs, which suffer from color washout and lower contrast.

LG’s Art Slim design philosophy takes LG’s beautiful TV design into a bold direction with a focus on creating the slimmest TV possible while keeping the overall aesthetic simple and minimal. The transparent stand makes the TV appear as though it is floating and maximizes the immersive viewing experience by reducing visual clutter around the screen. The attention to detail is meticulous — even the back cover is free of any fasteners or holes for a smooth finish. And while a curved TV may look like a work of art, LG also has a flat TV design for those looking for simplicity and unobtrusiveness.

Complementing their unparalleled picture and design, 2015 LG OLED TVs feature advanced sound with technology developed in partnership with audio expert Harman/Kardon, guaranteeing that the flawless picture quality is deservingly complemented with deep, rich sound. The 4.2 channel speaker setup is balanced and enhanced with LG’s ULTRA Surround System to deliver a powerful yet refined audio experience.

All of LG’s 2015 4K OLED TVs feature webOS 2.0, the latest version of LG’s proprietary smart TV platform. LG’s webOS 2.0 delivers a simpler, easier and more intuitive experience with an enhanced user interface and a raft of impressive features. The platform takes simplicity and convenience to a whole new level with reduced boot time and also allows users to optimize menus on the Launcher Bar making it easier than ever to add and delete favorite items.

“LG is driving innovation by making this superb TV technology available to more consumers,” said In-kyu Lee, senior vice president and head of the TV and monitor division at the LG Electronics Home Entertainment Company. “LG believes this is where the future of television is headed and we’re going to continue developing and expanding our OLED offerings until it becomes a viable option for all consumers.”

At CES 2015, LG’s OLED TV leadership is being recognized by the Consumer Electronics Association with 2015 CES Innovation Awards for LG’s 77-inch Flexible 4K OLED TV (Model 77EG9900), 65-inch Floating Art Slim CURVED 4K OLED TV (Model 65EG9600) and 55-inch Floating Art Slim Flat 4K OLED TV (Model 55EF9500).

Visitors to CES 2015 are encouraged to stop by LG’s booth (Las Vegas Convention Center, Central Hall #8204) from January 6-9 to experience the company’s impressive OLED TV lineup, including the three CES Innovation Award winners along with the 77-inch Art Slim CURVED 4K OLED TV (Model 77EG9700), 55-inch Floating Art Slim CURVED 4K OLED TV (Model 55EG9600), 65-inch Art Slim Flat 4K OLED TV (Model 65EF9800) and 65-inch Floating Art Slim Flat 4K OLED TV (Model 65EF9500).

LAS VEGAS, Jan. 5, 201— LG Electronics (LG) is pioneering new territory at the International CES® 2015 with an entirely new washing machine category. Its front loading washer’s revolutionary TWIN Wash™ System, the first of its kind, enables two separate loads to be washed simultaneously. With a space-efficient mini washer in the pedestal, overall cycle times are reduced with fewer loads required. With TurboWash™ 2.0 and TurboSteam™ wash cycles are faster while Wi-Fi and NFC translates to an array of intriguing smart connectivity options, including compatibility with LG’s HomeChat™ messaging service.

Visitors to the LG booth will also see LG’s award-winning EcoHybrid™ dryer (Model DLHX4072V). LG’s dryer won the CES 2015 Innovation Award, as well as the EPA’s ENERGY STAR Emerging Technology Award, thanks in large part to the dryer’s sophisticated Heat Pump technology, which enables greater energy efficiency and drying performance.

Ergonomic Design for Easier Washing

The incredible ergonomic design of LG’s new washer-dryer pair (Models WM9500H*A & DLGX9501V / WM9000H*A & DLGX9001V / WM5000H*A & DLGX5001V) takes convenience to new level. The door is conveniently aligned with the drum’s center, positioned 21mm higher than on conventional models. It is also tilted to a more accessible six degree angle, so users don’t have to bend over as much to put clothes in or take them out. Visibility with the door closed is also increased and the newly designed sliding detergent box at the top reduces the likelihood of messy detergent spills.

Unique, Bold TWIN Wash™ System

LG is the first to offer the game-changing TWIN Wash™ System. This smart innovation lets users wash two loads at once, the first in the main washer and the second in the mini washer underneath. The mini washer is suitable for delicate items that require special attention or unique wash settings. Most importantly, it significantly cuts down on washing time as more than one load can be washed at the same time.

The TWIN Wash™ System is powered by the mini washer (Models WD100C* / WD200C*), the world’s first compact washer in a hide-away pedestal, generating a whole new set of washing options. This design concept enables users to take advantage of a second washer without having to sacrifice additional space in the house. When not in use, the mini washer serves as the pedestal for the main washer. The mini washer can be combined with any of LG’s front loading washers and is an ideal solution for small, specialized laundry items that require a gentler touch, such as active wear or lingerie.

TurboWash™ 2.0 Means Faster Cleaning

With today’s hectic lifestyles, speed is important. LG’s exclusive speed cycle technology, TurboWash™ 2.0, uses twin nozzles at the front of the washer to spray a concentrated detergent solution directly onto the clothes. A high pressure nozzle above the drum sprays tiny water particles through the clothes during high spin cycles for quick and effective rinsing.

Better Drying with TurboSteam™

LG’s advanced TurboSteam™ technology gives a speed boost to the new dryers. Thanks in part to the Steam Fresh™ function, refresh times are now up to 50 percent faster than in previous dryers.1 When selected, TurboSteam™ prevents over-drying by spraying hot steam onto clothes during the drying cycle, which reduces shrinkage, sanitizes the clothes and eliminates even more wrinkles.

Convenience-Enhancing Features

LG’s new washer-dryer pairs are not just incredibly fast, they’re smart, too. The built-in SmartThinQ™ technology adds a whole new level of Wi-Fi convenience. Custom cycles can be uploaded to the washer, cycle statuses can be monitored via an LG smartphone app and alerts can be sent via Wi-Fi when the cycle is complete. The washing machine’s Energy Monitoring feature provides helpful data while LG’s proprietary HomeChat™ service allows users to check the status of their washing machine using everyday natural language.

LG EcoHybrid™ Dryer with Heat Pump Technology

The LG EcoHybrid™ dryer has been designed to achieve superb levels of efficiency, making it one of the few ETA (Emerging Technology Award) certified dryers on the market. Its cutting-edge Heat Pump technology recycles heat to save up to 53 percent more energy than typical dryers,2 while the innovative Auto Clean System keeps the evaporator clean and running smoothly. The dryer even excels at low temperatures, making it ideal for handling delicate clothes.

Top Loading Pair Enhances Convenience, Performance

At this year’s CES, LG is also introducing its new mega-capacity top loading washer-dryer pair (Models WT7700H*A and DLGX7701). The 5.7 cu. ft. capacity washer and 9.0 cu. ft. capacity dryer are equipped with a new horizontal damping system that allows them to accommodate more laundry than similarly-sized models. They also incorporate LG’s time-saving TurboWash™ 2.0 and TurboSteam™ technologies, delivering greater efficiency and world-class cleaning performance, while reducing washing times.

LG’s latest top loading duos are equipped with the industry exclusive LG EasyLoad™ feature, a two-way open door system offering users either a hamper-style door or a swing-door. This unique setup allows users to easily transfer clothes through the top to decrease bending and dropping clothes on the floor. And LG’s top loading washer-dryers have a number of high-tech features in common with the company’s front loading washer-dryers, including 6 Motion™ and TurboSteam™.

Using NFC tagging technology, users can download preprogrammed wash cycles to their smartphones. The wash cycles can be activated by simply touching the smartphone to the washing machine’s NFC Tag On symbol. What’s more, the Smart Diagnosis™ feature helps to quickly and efficiently troubleshoot almost any minor issue before it becomes a bigger problem.

“One might be tempted to call the LG TWIN Wash™ System disruptive, as it’s a completely new concept in appliances,” said Seong-jin Jo, president and CEO of the LG Electronics Home Appliance & Air Solution Company. “The addition of a mini washer underneath the main washer translates to greater flexibility, convenience and efficiency. It’s also another big leap forward in our commitment to using cutting-edge technology and innovative ideas to make life better for consumers around the world.”

Visitors to CES 2015 are encouraged to stop by LG’s booth (Las Vegas Convention Center, Central Hall #8204) from January 6-9 to see the company’s newest washers and dryers for themselves.

EVOLUTION OF LG’S CURVED SMARTPHONE UNVEILED AT CES 2015

LG G Flex2 Features Dynamically Curved Design Optimized

with Sharper Display, Powerful Hardware, Intuitive Software

A side view and a front view of LG G Flex2.

LAS VEGAS, Jan. 5, 2015 — LG Electronics (LG) continues to push the industry boundaries with the unveiling of the new G Flex2 at the 2015 International CES® in Las Vegas. The original G Flex earned positive reviews for its innovative design and outside-the-box thinking. One year later, the G Flex2 improves upon its predecessor in every way possible with a more advanced design, faster performance and most importantly, greater convenience.

The LG G Flex2 boasts sleeker, more stylish curves and a powerful Qualcomm® Snapdragon™ 810 processor with Octa-Core 64-bit capable CPUs for a nimbler and smoother performance. Its 5.5-inch display gets a bump up to Full HD, while the updated software offers even more conveniences through all-new features such as Gesture View and Glance View. The unique “Self Healing” back cover from the original G Flex carries over to the G Flex2 and is now faster and more effective than before.

Beauty In The Details

The G Flex2 goes beyond its predecessor’s groundbreaking 700mm radius curved profile. The new smartphone harmoniously incorporates a symphony of curves ranging from a radius of 400mm to 700mm across the front, back, sides and top-to-bottom edges. The dynamically curved layers deliver a sleeker and more dynamic look to G Flex2.

However, the G Flex2’s curves are for more than looks. The phone’s ergonomic design brings the microphone closer to the mouth, for better sound pickup compared to conventional smartphones which allow much more outside noise to enter the phone through the microphone.  The slimmed down 5.5 inches screen with curvatures makes the perfect fit for eyes and the grip. The display’s 700mm radius curvature delivers a truly immersive viewing experience from any angle, while the steeper 650mm radius curvature of the back is more comfortable to grip and fits easier in the pocket. The display’s resolution has also been bumped up to 1080p Full HD, which makes every UI detail appear crisp and alive. The P-OLED display, which gives the G Flex2 its unique shape and durability, is even more precise than in the original G Flex.

Turning the phone over reveals handcrafted details such as the Spin Hairline Pattern on the G Flex2’s curved rear, which showcases the subtle yet brilliant polish of the surface from every angle.

Most Advanced Technology To Date

The G Flex2 is the first smartphone officially announced to come equipped with the Snapdragon 810 processor, featuring Octa-Core 64-bit capable CPUs optimized for Android 5.0 and the advanced Qualcomm® Adreno™ 430 GPU for stunning graphics performance. This makes the smartphone incredibly fast and efficient for multimedia and multi-tasking. The Snapdragon 810 also features fully integrated 3x20MHz Carrier Aggregation support for faster, more efficient connectivity.

What’s more, the G Flex2’s cover glass is approximately 20 percent more durable, thanks to a special chemical treatment technology developed by LG. The Self Healing back, which keeps the phone looking new even through the nicks and scratches from normal everyday use, has also been improved with significantly faster healing time. LG reduced the healing time from about three minutes to just with in ten seconds at room temperature.

Another innovative technology only available in LG smartphones is the amazingly fast Laser Auto Focus camera, first introduced in the popular LG G3. This technology enables the G Flex2 to capture the best moment — even in low light — by measuring the distance between the subject and the camera using a laser beam. Combined with LG’s proven OIS+ technology and dual LED flash, the G Flex2 delivers images that rival most standalone point and shoot cameras.

Practical Solutions for User Convenience

The G Flex2’s curve-enhanced user experience carries over to software as well. It comes fully loaded with the best of LG’s unique software features optimized for its curved form factor:

■ Gesture Shot makes it easy to capture the perfect selfie with a simple hand gesture recognizable from up        to 1.5 meters away.

■ Gesture View makes it easy to check your last shot immediately after taking a photo or selfie.

■ GlanceView displays key information such as time, recent messages or missed calls with a downward             swipe of the curved screen even while the display is off.

■ Fast Chargallows the embedded 3,000mAh battery in the G Flex2 — the only curved mobile battery in         the world to be charged up to 50 percent in under 40 minutes.

“The original G Flex demonstrated LG’s pioneering spirit and with the G Flex2 we have refined the curved form factor, staying true to our philosophy of innovation for a better life,” said Juno Cho, president and CEO of the LG Electronics Mobile Communications Company. “The G Flex2 not only has the stunning looks, it also has the powerful guts to be at the cutting edge of current smartphone technology. Simply put, it’s a true head-turner in every sense of the word.”

The LG G Flex2 will be available starting at the end of the month in Korea to be followed by additional global markets. The device will initially be available in two colors: Platinum Silver and Flamenco Red.

Visitors to LG’s booth at CES 2015 (Las Vegas Convention Center, Central Hall #8204) can experience LG’s newest mobile devices, including the G Flex2, for themselves. For more information, visit LG’s online press room at www.LGnewsroom.com/ces2015.

LG USHERS IN NEW YEAR WITH ‘INNOVATION FOR A BETTER LIFE’

Internet of Things Key to Enhancing Consumers Lives,

Says LG Electronics CTO at International CES® 2015

Ahn Seung-kwon, president and chief technology officer of LG, introduces its IoT strategy and platform “webOS 2.0” at the global press conference held at CES 2015.

LAS VEGAS, Jan. 5, 201— Highlighting LG Electronics (LG) “Innovation for a better Life” theme for the 2015 International CES®, LG Chief Technology Officer Dr. Skott Ahn today explained how the Internet of Things (IoT) is transforming the way consumers live, work and play. In his keynote address at LG’s CES press conference here today, Dr. Ahn explained how LG innovations such as HomeChatTM and webOS are driving the IoT ecosystem to make consumers’ lives more convenient and more productive.

“The Internet of Things isn’t about just some devices and the apps that control them,” Ahn said. “It’s what connects everything we value with the innovations that are centered around our lives. At LG, we’re taking an open approach to maximize the value offered to our customers through platforms, connectivity and the overall IoT ecosystem.”

Platforms

LG started down the path to make its webOS operating system a strong IoT platform last year when the company successfully implemented webOS into a new generation of intuitive smart TVs. At CES 2015, Dr. Ahn proudly unveiled the webOS 2.0 upgraded smart TV platform, which offers an even simpler user experience, is more than twice as fast as the first version, and fully supports streaming of 4K Ultra HD content. The LG webOS platform has also been expanded to LG’s signage and hotel TVs, allowing customers to experience the true value of IoT outside of their homes, he said.

Ahn said LG is working on a platform that cares for customers’ wellness instead of just tracking and reporting it. LG developed bio-signal analysis technologies for smartphones and wearable devices that can assist with physical health management such as helping to modify sleeping habits. LG’s wellness platform can even optimize one’s living environment by controlling appliances such as water heaters and air conditioners.

Connectivity

Describing how LG plans to connect devices and technologies, Ahn touched on customizable solutions that interconnect smart devices. “Just like our phones, cars are getting much smarter. And we’re seeing an increasing need to connect our smart devices to cars,” he said.

LG is expanding IoT into cars by actively developing Vehicle to Everything (V2X) technologies. LG has developed and commercialized a connectivity solution to mirror Android and iOS devices to car displays. LG’s smart car connectivity technology is not only highly customizable but also supports other industry solutions such as MirrorLink®.

To connect all the technologies around consumers, LG is embracing open standards, Ahn said. “We’re working with the AllSeen Alliance, of which LG is a founding member, to adopt the AllJoyn open connectivity platform. LG is also heavily involved in oneM2M, the global standard for IoT services, to adopt a broad connectivity technology that links gateways and devices around the cloud, allowing LG products to work flawlessly with any devices from any brands.

Ecosystem

“In order to realize the true value of IoT, we need a strong ecosystem of like-minded partners who share our vision,” Ahn said, explaining that LG is working closely with leading smart home service providers and iControl OpenHome ecosystem members to ensure that LG’s large product portfolio integrates seamlessly with smart home services ranging from security to home automation.

Last year, LG introduced HomeChatTM, a platform that allows the use of Natural Language Processing (NLP) to control and monitor home appliances. LG is currently working with Nest Labs to make HomeChat™ compatible with Nest products. In the near future, HomeChatTM will also connect to cars. “Before leaving home, you simply say where you want to go and your destination will automatically be added to your car’s navigation system in order to safely guide you on your journey,” Dr. Ahn explained.

Visitors to CES 2015 are encouraged to stop by LG’s booth (Las Vegas Convention Center, Central Hall #8204) to see the company’s IoT products for themselves. For more information, visit LG’s online press room at www.LGnewsroom.com/ces2015.

LG TO INTRODUCE SECOND-GEN LG STYLER CLOTHING CARE SYSTEM AT CES 2015

New Category of Appliance for Busy Professionals Offers a

Convenient Way to Freshen Hard-to-Maintain Clothes

Front view of the LG Styler

SEOUL, Jan. 2, 201— LG Electronics (LG) will introduce an updated, advanced version of its one-of-a-kind clothing management system — LG Styler — at the 2015 International CES®. The new compact, more affordable LG Styler is designed to refresh clothes without detergents, providing an ideal solution for hard-to-maintain clothes such as suits, coats and sweaters.

Equipped with a range of features not found on any washing machine, LG’s latest Styler refreshes clothes just as quickly and conveniently as before. The Styler’s Odor Removal feature uses steam to help remove unpleasant odors left behind by smoke, food and sweat. Users can choose between two different aroma sheets that provide refreshing, subtle scents. The Quick Refresh function keeps clothes looking, feeling and smelling fresh, while Moving Hanger Action gently shakes the clothes after they have been steamed to remove all wrinkles. The new LG Styler also features a built-in heat pump which generates warm air and maintains it at a low temperature to keep clothing from shrinking or being damaged while drying.

The LG Styler provides not only clothes refreshing but also effective sterilization with TrueSteam™, LG’s hot steam spray technology offered in many of LG’s popular washing machines. With a simple touch of a button, hot steam is employed to eliminate 99.9 percent of the germs and bacteria that reside deep inside clothes and soft toys.1 Respected product testing organizations, including the British Allergy Foundation (BAF) and the Korea Apparel Testing & Research Institute (KATRI), have tested and verified the effectiveness of LG Styler’s steam sterilization feature. And tests carried out by Intertek revealed that the LG Styler eliminates approximately 92 percent of Perchloroethylene — the main chemical used in dry cleaning and a possible carcinogen — during a full 90-minute sterilization cycle.2

One of the important innovations added to the new model is the Easy Pants Crease Care feature. Conveniently positioned on the door section, it efficiently removes creases formed at the back of knees from daily wear while maintaining perfect pleats up front. Trousers will look and feel almost as good as the day they were purchased.

Smart Diagnosis™ and NFC Tag On are featured in the new LG Styler. Smart Diagnosis™ alerts the user via their smartphone when the unit needs maintenance or repair and with NFC, users can download specialized cycles to their smartphones to be uploaded to their Styler with one tap of the smartphone.

Compared to the original Styler, the cabinet’s overall size has been reduced by 30 percent and the rounded edge, modern glass door and tasteful aluminum handle are intended to enhance and seamlessly integrate with virtually any interior décor. The LG Styler’s controls are displayed on a front touch panel and illuminated by soft, gentle lighting. The Styler operates quietly at only 40dB so it can be left running while you sleep.

“The busier our lives become, the more difficult it is to take proper care of our wardrobe,” said Seong-jin Jo, president and CEO of the LG Home Appliance & Air Solution Company. “Professional cleaning services are not only costly, they can harm your clothes over the long term. The LG Styler helps consumers take greater control over their wardrobe and is a great alternative to such services and keeps coats, sweaters, blouses and other delicate articles of clothing.”

Key Specifications:

■ Capacity Clothing Refresher (4 pieces total)

■ Easy Pants Crease Care

■ Heat Pump Technology

■ Sanitary Cycle (Intertek-certified)

■ Gently Dry for Delicate Clothing

■ Smart Diagnosis™

■ NFC

———————————————————–

1 BAF tested baby clothes, soft toys, blankets and wool for house dust mites. KATRI tested three shirts for Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli.

2 By comparison, only 62 percent of Perchloroethylene will dissipate naturally over a period of 8 hours.

LG TO INTRODUCE WORLD’S FIRST 21:9 ULTRAWIDE GAMING MONITOR WITH AMD FREESYNC AT CES 2015

Expanded Lineup to Feature Monitors Specifically Designed for
Gamers, Businesspeople, Media Professionals

A front view of LG’s 34-inch UltraWide Gaming Monitor 34UM67.

SEOUL, Dec. 31, 201— LG Electronics (LG) will showcase its new 21:9 UltraWide monitor lineup at the 2015 International CES® in Las Vegas from January 6-9, highlighted by the world’s first UltraWide monitor compatible with AMD FreeSync technology to for fluid motion during fast gameplay. Based on IDC’s Worldwide Quarterly PC Monitor Tracker, LG is the world sales leader in this monitor segment, over the last seven fiscal quarters (as of Q3 2014) with a market share of 77.3 percent of the world’s 21:9 monitors.

21:9 UltraWide Gaming Monitor with AMD FreeSync Technology

LG 34UM67 is the company’s first 21:9 UltraWide Gaming Monitor specifically developed for graphics-intensive gaming. AMD’s FreeSync technology eliminates the screen tearing that occurs when the monitor and graphics card are out of sync. FreeSync technology guarantees the smoothest and most seamless gaming experience, generating fluid motion without any loss of frame rate.

“AMD FreeSync technology is an innovative monitor technology, based on free and open industry standards, to eliminate the tearing and stuttering that has plagued PC gaming for 30 years,” said Roy Taylor, corporate vice president of ISV/IHV Partner Group, AMD. “We are pleased that LG Electronics stands with us with truly exciting AMD FreeSync-ready displays like the LG UltraWide Gaming Monitor.”

The UltraWide Gaming Monitor also has an exceptional UltraWide field of view (FOV), allowing gamers to gain the upper hand by revealing hidden spaces that were invisible on regular 16:9 monitors. The monitor’s Black Stabilizer illuminates dark scenes and helps to clearly define the deep black areas where objects and enemies could be hidden. The Dynamic Action Sync mode minimizes input lag, making gameplay truly real time. Many popular games such as Battlefield 4, World of Warcraft and ArcheAge currently support 21:9 resolution with more games expected to support this resolution in the future.

World’s First Curved 34-inch 21:9 Monitor with Extensive Screen

LG’s curved 34-inch UltraWide monitor (Model 34UC97) in Quad HD resolution (3440 x 1440) makes maximum use of screen real estate. It allows creative professionals such as graphic designers or photographers to look at more images as thumbnails and media creators to see longer video image sequences or graphical representations of sound. Mac users will find the monitor particularly appealing as it is compatible with Thunderbolt™ 2, capable of high-speed bulk data transfers. The curved display further immerses users in their gaming experience.

Thanks to the 178-degree viewing angle of the In-Plane Switching (IPS) display which recreates colors across over 99 percent of the sRGB color space, there is no color distortion at any angle. The monitor’s color accuracy, viewing angle and sRGB color space have been certified by TÜV Rheinland and Intertek and also validated by UL.

21:9 Curved UltraWide Multi-Display for Enhanced Productivity

The 21:9 Curved UltraWide Multi-Display (Model 34UC87M) provides various multiple-display set-up options, raising productivity levels for stock traders and other financial professionals who need to keep track of large amounts of data simultaneously. This monitor can be used as a trading workstation or a large dashboard to display charts, quotes or pending orders on each screen, allowing the user to explore a wider range of opportunities.

Digital Cinema 4K Monitor for Superb Color Management

LG will also showcase the Digital Cinema 4K Monitor (Model 31MU97) featuring 4K resolution (4096 x 2160), with more pixels than normal Ultra HD resolution (3840 x 2160). Not only does it show 4K content as they were meant to be seen with native resolution, it is also well suited for handling Digital Intermediate (DI) processes. With over 99.5 percent Adobe Color Space, it is the ideal monitor for accurate color management.

“LG’s premium 21:9 UltraWide monitors are designed with the unique needs of consumers in mind,” said In-kyu Lee, senior vice president and head of the TV and monitor division at the LG Electronics Home Entertainment Company. “The industry has come a long way from the days when one display design was thought to be suitable for all users. With the amount of time we spend in front of monitors, there’s a lot of room for specialized monitors in our lives.”

Visitors are encouraged to stop by LG’s booth at CES 2015 (Las Vegas Convention Center, Central Hall #8204) from Jan. 6-9 to see LG’s innovative monitor lineup up close and personal.

Deep, rich and powerful sound is guaranteed to further enhance the level of viewer immersion. The thoughtfully-designed forward-firing speakers are compact but effective. And new for 2015, the high-end UF9500 series features an integrated Auditorium Stand designed to reflect and centralize sound for maximum performance.

LG’s newly upgraded proprietary smart TV platform, webOS 2.0, is even more user-friendly than its predecessor, letting users explore the system’s full potential in intuitive ways. Booting time has been reduced by up to 60 percent and connectivity to external devices is even more effortless than before. What’s more, users can customize their own menus on the Launcher Bar for a more personalized experience.

LG has also integrated its sophisticated 4K Upscaler algorithm into its 4K Ultra HD TV lineup for smooth rendering of SD, HD and Full HD content into near Ultra HD quality images. What’s more, the built-in 4K High Efficiency Video Codec (HEVC) Decoder supports both 30p and 60p 4K content from external devices, helping to assure  that LG TVs will be compatible with future Ultra HD transmission standards.

“LG 4K ULTRA HD TVs are designed to offer a viewing experience unmatched in the TV industry,” said In-kyu Lee, senior vice president and head of the TV and monitor division at the LG Electronics Home Entertainment Company. “The breathtaking picture quality is underpinned by our latest ColorPrime series for a truly superb home entertainment experience.”

By utilizing LG’s innovative Door-in-DoorTM feature without opening the entire refrigerator, cold air loss is reduced by up to 47 percent to help keep food fresh longer.1

Expertly crafted, the refrigerator also features contour processed, tempered glass that has been applied over curved glass. Black patterned finishing provides a stylish design that is both aesthetically pleasing and leaves the outside fingerprint and smudge resistant. The refrigerator is also equipped with EasyLift™ Bins which allows users to adjust the height of the internal compartments to accommodate large or odd-shaped bottles.
