SEOUL, Oct. 22, 2014 — LG Electronics (LG) will be contributing two thousands smartphones toward the United Nations’ response to the deadly outbreak of the Ebola virus in West Africa. The donated smartphones from LG will be provided to healthcare and other key personnel dispatched by the UN in the affected areas where they are urgently needed. The smartphones will allow for fast and seamless communication between the teams on the ground, focusing on medical data gathering, monitoring and planning. The UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) will facilitate the distribution of the mobile devices.

“We hope that our contribution will make a difference as the UN and NGOs fight on the front lines to improve healthcare, food security and sanitation in areas affected by the Ebola epidemic,” said Choong-hak Lee, senior vice president and head of LG’s corporate social responsibility efforts. “This endeavor is representative of LG’s ongoing mission to use its technology to contribute toward resolving global issues.”

According to OCHA, almost one billion dollars will be needed to address the immediate humanitarian needs caused by the Ebola virus. Almost 5,000 people have been infected with Ebola since the outbreak started in West Africa in March with more than 2,400 individuals having died across the region. Support from LG and other international partners is critical to the UN’s efforts to stabilize the outbreak.

LG’s HD MiniBeam (model PH300) offers exceptional mobility and viewing experience on top of a host of advanced technologies highlighted by a durable, long-life LED light source. Able to produce spectacularly large images and operate for up to two and half hours on a single charge, the LG HD MiniBeam lets users take the cinema with them wherever they go.

“The new LG HD MiniBeam is an ingenious device that can be enjoyed just about anytime and anywhere,” said In-kyu Lee, vice president and head of LG Electronics’ TV division at LG Electronics. “It allows users to turn any flat surface into a display — both indoors and outdoors — and immerse themselves in crystal-clear HD quality images. Rendering bright, crisp images measuring an impressive 100 inches diagonal, the LG HD MiniBeam is ideal for both impromptu movie nights and important boardroom presentations.”

The LG PH300 employs an RGB LED light source that delivers a brightness of 300 ANSI lumens and contrast ratio of 100,000:1 in HD resolution (1280 x 720). Built with durability in mind, the LED has an estimated lifespan of 30,000 hours, the equivalent of ten years watching eight hours a day. Additionally, LG’s Auto Vertical Keystone (AVK) technology makes the HD MiniBeam far more convenient to operate than conventional projectors. AVK simplifies setup and removes the need for constant lens adjustment, automatically selecting the optimal projection angle and minimizing image distortion. The ultimate portable display solution, the LG PH300 provides several connectivity options that enable the viewing of content stored on other devices such as smartphones, laptops, tablets and USB drives.

The PH300 will be available this month in key markets in Latin America, North America, Asia and the Middle East followed by additional countries including France, Germany, Portugal, Spain and Turkey in November. LG UNVEILS LATEST HVAC SOLUTIONS AT CHILLVENTA 2014

Newest Lineup of Innovative Products and Technologies Designed for

High Standards of European Efficiency, Performance and Durability

Ladies pointing LG’s latest HVAC product at Chilventa 2014

NUREMBERG, Oct. 14, 201— LG Electronics (LG) will give visitors to Chillventa 2014 their first look the company’s latest residential and commercial HVAC products as well as its renewable energy solutions. A biennial event taking place from October 14–16 at the Exhibition Centre Nuremberg in Germany, Chillventa is the premier European tradeshow for refrigeration, air conditioning, ventilation and heat pumps.

The LG booth at Chillventa 2014 will feature five main sections: Multi V IV Zone, Multi V Zone, Therma V and RAC Zone, Inverter Single and Multi Split Zone and the BMS Zone. There will be live demonstrations of the company’s newest technologies including Multi V IV Heat Recovery, Hydro Kit, Therma V and ARTCOOL Stylist Inverter V. All LG products on display at this year’s Chillventa are energy efficient, eco-friendly and offer incredible installation flexibility.

“Already one of the world’s providers of HVAC and energy solutions, LG’s presence is becoming increasingly visible in markets throughout Europe,” said Jae-sung Lee, president of the LG Air Conditioning and Energy Solution Company’s commercial unit. “Chillventa provides us with a fantastic opportunity to showcase our excellent HVAC solutions, which are designed to raise the bar for energy efficiency and deliver the results that are so important to LG and our European customers.”

At Chillventa 2014, LG will demonstrate energy efficient heating technologies such as its Multi V IV Heat Recovery of Variable Refrigerant Flow (VRF) solution, ideal for commercial buildings such as hotels, hospitals and offices. A central component in LG’s lineup, Multi V IV Heat Recovery was designed to allow simultaneous heating and cooling in different building zones. Though capable of running these two very different functions at the same time, this system is able to save energy even when both functions are in use. For example, with the heating and cooling operation rates at 60 and 40 percent respectively, the LG Multi V IV Heat Recovery system achieves an impressively high coefficient of performance (COP) of up to 8.5, resulting in an energy savings of 30 percent over conventional systems.

Multi V IV Heat Recovery can help meet the hot water needs of medium to large sized buildings when combined with LG’s Hydro Kit water heating solution. Working in tandem to reduce energy consumption, this combination can rapidly heat water to a maximum temperature of 80 degrees Celsius. The Multi V IV Heat Recovery solution generates powerful heating airflow and helps the Hydro Kit perform its floor and water heating duties at the same time. In keeping with LG’s green vision, these systems produce a minimal amount of CO2 emissions and lower energy costs by recycling heat from all connected indoor units.

Suited for new or recently renovated houses, LG’s Therma V offers a reliable supply of hot water, effective floor heating and optimum flexibility. The main strength of Therma V is its ability to deliver energy efficiency without sacrificing performance. Weather Dependent Operation Mode automatically adjusts the indoor temperature in response to changes in outside temperature in order to provide comfort and convenience. What’s more, this system’s Silent Mode lowers operational noise at night or whenever a quieter environment is desired.

The elegant ARTCOOL Stylist Inverter V will highlight LG’s advanced residential air conditioning showcase at Chillventa 2014. In addition to their beautiful aesthetics, LG’s 2014 residential models are designed with discerning European consumers in mind. Energy-conserving inverter technology, effective healthcare benefits from technology such as Plasmaster Ionizer Plus and convenience-enhancing smart functions such as Active Energy Control and LG AC Tag On provide customers with value.

Visitors to Chillventa 2014 are invited to visit LG’s interactive exhibition booth in Hall 7–410 of Exhibition Centre Nuremberg from October 14-16.

LG TO DEMONSTRATE UNIQUE LIGHTWAVE OVEN TECHNOLOGY AT IFA 2014

LG’s Lightwave Technology with Charcoal Lighting HeaterTM Helps

Consumers Cook Tastier, Healthier Dishes While Saving Time and Energy

A front view of LG’s Lightwave Convection Oven equipped with the cutting-edge Charcoal Lighting Heater™.

SEOUL, Sep. 4, 2014 ― At IFA 2014 in Berlin, LG Electronics (LG) is showcasing its Lightwave Convection Oven equipped with the cutting-edge Charcoal Lighting Heater™ for tastier and healthier dishes in the comforts of one’s home. With the double functionality of a microwave and an oven, LG’s Lightwave Convection Oven is easy to use and offers greater cooking flexibility than traditional ovens. The state-of-the-art microwave functions bring out the aspiring gourmet chef in even casual meal makers by giving meals a delicious, oven-cooked quality.

The Charcoal Lighting Heater™ is a revolutionary innovation that makes food much tastier as well as convenient. LG’s unique technology uses a charcoal filament that emits a rapid flow of intensive heat deep into the dish, which not only makes cooking faster but due to its fast heat dispersion, creates crispy-on-the-outside, juicy-on-the-inside dishes. In addition, cooking time is saved along with enhancing energy efficiency from this innovative technology. Lightwave oven technology also reduces unnecessary fats, making meals healthier than ever.

“The Charcoal Lighting Heater™ represents a big step forward in home cooking,” said Seong-jin Jo, president and CEO of the LG Electronics Home Appliance Company. “In terms of cooking food more naturally, this technology really is a game changer. It not only helps reduce unnecessary fats, it also prevents the nutrient-loss that occurs in traditional ovens during the cooking process. On top of that, the oven has a raft of convenience enhancing functions designed to make life a whole lot easier in the kitchen.”

LG is also showcasing its new grill and solo models equipped with its highly innovative cleaning technology. LG’s breakthrough EasyClean™ coating reduces much of the effort required to remove food residue. It prevents grime from sticking to the interior walls, which makes keeping the oven clean much easier. Due to the coating’s strong resistance to residue buildup, consumers can have a much cleaner and healthier cooking experience.

Visitors to IFA 2014 are encouraged to see LG’s unique Lightwave Convection Oven for themselves in Hall 11.2 of Messe Berlin from September 5-10.

LG DISHWASHER WITH A+++ ENERGY RATING DELIVERS POWERFUL CLEANING WITH TRUESTEAM™

LG’s TrueSteam™ Dishwasher Features State-of-the-Art Technology

for Effective Washing Performance and User Convenience

A front view of LG’s TrueSteam™ Dishwasher.

SEOUL, Sep. 4, 2014 — At IFA 2014, LG Electronics (LG) will introduce its latest TrueStream™ equipped dishwasher (model D1494CF) with powerful cleaning performance as well as A+++ rating for energy efficiency. The advanced dishwasher also features LG’s SmartRack™ system with easily adjustable tines and UV lamp sanitization technology for greater user convenience and hygiene.

The dishwasher’s energy efficiency is made possible by LG’s Inverter Direct Drive technology which optimizes the power needed for each load by directly transferring energy from the motor to the water spray system through a more simplified structure. Together with TrueSteam™, which is activated when the dishwasher’s Steam Power mode is engaged, high-temperature steam from pressurized nozzles is discharged to dislodge tough food particles from dishes and utensils. Temperature and pressure are managed by the built-in steam generator, which is powerful enough to virtually eliminate burnt or dried food residue. For dishware that require a softer touch, Steam Care mode offers a gentler cleaning solution. The dishwasher’s Steam Dual Spray feature allows for different water pressure on the upper and lower racks, making it possible to wash both soft and hard food residues simultaneously, saving water and energy.

After the wash cycle is completed, the dishwasher employs a high-tech UV lamp sanitization process to eliminate up to 99.9 percent of any remaining bacteria. This feature, together with LG’s TrueSteam™ technology, provides more hygienic results and allows tableware to be left inside the dishwasher for up to four hours without any renewed bacteria growth. The UV sterilization cycle is programmed to run a second time if the dishwasher door has not been opened after two hours.

LG’s unique SmartRack™ system offers maximum flexibility and enables the dishwasher to accommodate a wide variety of odd-shaped bowls, pans, platters and other items. All three tiers are designed to hold different types of dishware: the lower rack is suitable for dishes, bowls, pots and pans while the middle rack is designed for cups and wineglasses. The upper rack is intended for smaller items such as espresso cups, utensils and kitchen tools. The height of the top rack is designed to be easily adjusted to make room for oversized utensils such as spatulas, whisks or salad tongs. All in all, the SmartRack™ system sets a new benchmark for loading convenience.

Convenience is further enhanced with LG’s Silence On technology, which employs multiple layers of sound dampening insulation to reduce the dishwasher’s noise level to only 38dB. And with LG’s Smart Diagnosis™ feature, customer service representatives can quickly and efficiently troubleshoot mechanical issues, limiting costly and inconvenient service visits.

“Many consumers are frustrated with having to clean off every dish and glass before placing them inside the dishwasher,” said Seong-jin Jo, president and CEO of the LG Electronics Home Appliance Company. “TrueSteam™ technology reduces the need for this step altogether. And our TrueSteam™ dishwashers are quieter than conventional LG models to ensure a quiet, peaceful kitchen environment.”

Visitors to IFA 2014 can see LG’s newest dishwasher with TrueStream™ technology for themselves in Hall 11.2 of Messe Berlin from September 5–10.

The 105-inch CURVED ULTRA HD TV with Cinema Scope 21:9 ratio screen features 5K resolution (5,120 x 2,160) that packs 30 percent more pixels than regular 4K TVs. This TV’s massive screen will provide viewers with a true cinematic experience with its equally impressive 7.2 channels and 150-watt sound system.

All LG ULTRA HD TVs will present diverse Ultra HD content as a result of various partnerships with providers such as Netflix, Amazon and Wuaki as well as Ultra HD programs for European consumers through partnerships with Filmbox Live, Maxdome, videociety and Okko. LG will also demonstrate the world’s first Ultra HD content streaming exclusive on LG’s Hybrid Broadcast Broadband TV (HbbTV) in collaboration with France Television. And with LG’s True 4K Engine, standard definition(SD) and high definition(HD) content can be upscaled to near-4K quality for greater viewing pleasure.

Featured in all of OLED and ULTRA HD TVs, LG’s webOS Smart+ platform provides a simple and intuitive user experience with fast, easy access to a world of entertainment. LG’s webOS delivers easier content searching and discovery, allowing users to switch seamlessly between apps, services, live broadcasts and content stored on external devices. With the help of animated character BeanBird, webOS makes configuring and connecting the TV a stress-free proposition. At this year’s IFA, visitors will be able to create their own BeanBird characters to display on a large video wall in LG’s booth.

As an added surprise at IFA, LG will be unveiling its first 8K TV (7,680 x 4,320), a 98-inch unit that boasts sixteen times the resolution of Full HD TV and four times that of conventional 4K TV.

Inside the Smart Home display at LG’s booth, visitors will learn how LG’s latest premium smart appliances and the revolutionary LG HomeChat™ can provide users with unprecedented convenience, control, connectivity as well as offer recommendations via a smartphone.

LG Smart Home is built around the idea of unifying multiple smart appliances into a single, cohesive system in order to increase convenience and simplicity. Via LG HomeChat™, users can enjoy integrated control of their smart home ecosystem, as well as intelligent time- and energy-saving modes such as Leaving Home, Coming Home or Vacation. To illustrate, if the user types Leaving Home into their mobile messenger, their LG smart refrigerator will automatically turn to Smart Power Saving mode. Typing “leaving home” also activates the HOM-BOT robotic vacuum cleaner’s Home Guard mode, a useful feature that enables the cleaner to detect if somebody enters the house, capture images of its immediate surroundings and send them directly to the user’s smartphone.

LG Smart Home is compatible with existing open platform smart home systems, as well as appliances and devices from different manufacturers through open protocols such as AllJoyn, the open source software sponsored by AllSeen Alliance. AllJoyn keeps users informed of their LG smart appliances’ operational status so as soon as the washer has completed a load, for example, the user will automatically receive a notification on their LG Smart+ TV featuring webOS. LG Smart Home will also integrate with products from Nest which will launch in North America later this year.

“We are thrilled to be unveiling our Smart Home at IFA 2014,” said Seong-jin Jo, president and CEO of the LG Electronics Home Appliance Company. “Ensuring seamless integration with open smart home platforms, it provides a number of smart benefits including convenience, time and energy savings and one-touch settings for a variety of scenarios. LG Smart Home is like having a personal home secretary who gives you smart recommendations, anticipates your commands and makes life easier and more comfortable.”

Helping to create an indoor environment that is far more than just a living space, the LG Smart Home encompasses three separate but interrelated themes. The first, Supreme Trust covers home monitoring, energy management and Smart Diagnosis™. The second, Thrilling Burst, refers to LG’s Smart Hi-Fi Audio Wireless Multi Room system while the third, Eminent Conversation, comprises tailored recommendations and useful one-touch modes including Vacation, Leaving Home, Grocery Shopping and Coming Home.

LG Smart Refrigerator: Smart Food Management

LG’s smart refrigerator has several innovative, convenience-enhancing features such as Smart View, Smart Power Saving and Smart Manager. Smart View employs the industry’s first built-ininternal refrigerator camera to allow users to see the content of the refrigerator using a smartphone or tablet. Every time the fridge door is opened, the camera captures images of the interior shelves. Users can check these images through HomeChat™ to quickly assess what they need to buy while they’re at the supermarket, helping to save time and preventing unnecessary purchases.

Smart Power Saving and Energy Monitoring clearly reflect LG’s desire to make the smart refrigerator as energy efficient as possible. Smart Power Saving significantly reduces energy consumption at times when the unit is not being accessed, such as during sleeping hours or vacation. Meanwhile, Energy Monitoring helps users to keep track of how much energy the smart refrigerator is using and how many times its doors have been opened.

The Smart Manager also transforms the refrigerator into a complete food management system with the handy Recipe Search function which presents the user with a variety of tasty meal options based on the items stored in the refrigerator. Another new feature called Photo Album lets users send pictures taken on their smartphones to the refrigerator’s display so they can share their favorite images with family members in the kitchen.

LG Smart Washing Machine: Peace of Mind and One Touch Simplicity

The LG smart washing machine is equipped with several smart technologies that simplify the task of doing laundry. Guided Laundry can recommend and automatically apply the optimal settings for any type of laundering scenario. For example, for orange juice spills, simply texting “remove juice stains” on HomeChatTM will initiate One Touch Washing to prescribe the appropriate course of action.

The Energy Monitoring feature lets users compare how much energy the washer is consuming each month and displays the level of energy used by individual washing courses. This accurate information can be helpful to those looking to actively reduce their monthly electricity bills. Through the Download Cycle function, users can easily download a wide range of washing courses — families with infants can select the Baby Wear course while fitness types can install the Gym Clothes course.

Using Wi-Fi, NFC tagging and audible diagnosis, LG’s Smart Diagnosis™ alerts the user of technical issues. The smart LG washing machine also notifies the user when the drum needs cleaning. What’s more, customers can remotely control and monitor their LG smart washing machine from almost any location. They can even ensure their laundry is completed by the time they arrive home from work just by texting “start washing cycle” when leaving the office. Furthermore, they can check the washer’s operational status in real time by texting “what are you doing?”

LG Smart HOM-BOT SQUARE: So Much More than Just a Vacuum

The new Home Guard feature enables the HOM-BOT SQUARE robot vacuum to monitor the home while the owner is away. If the unit senses any movement, its integrated cameras will automatically take photos of the room and send them to the homeowner’s smartphone. Another great feature, Home View, lets users control the smart vacuum cleaner with their smartphones from anywhere. Cleaning History makes it simple to check the Smart HOM-BOT SQUARE’s performance.

LG Smart Lightwave Oven: Worry-free Cooking

Thanks to HomeChat™ and Recipe Search, homeowners can ask their smart LG oven to recommend recipes for specific dishes. Once the user has made their selection among recommended recipes, the oven will set the temperature and cooking time for that particular dish. Furthermore, the user can check the status of cooking by the Oven Monitoring feature. Users not only can receive alerts on their smartphones when new recipes become available and can also design their own recipe for saving.

Visitors to IFA can see LG’s latest in smart home technology for themselves in Hall 11.2 of Messe Berlin from September 5-10.

LG’S PREMIUM, STYLISH BUILT-IN APPLIANCES CREATE THE DREAM KITCHEN

LG Studio Delivers Winning Combination of Premium Styling and Innovation

A whole view of kitchen in black and white consisting of LG’s premium built-in kitchen appliances including refrigerator, induction cooktop, oven and dishwasher

SEOUL, Aug. 29, 2014 ― LG Electronics (LG) is showcasing its new LG Studio premium built-in kitchen package at IFA 2014. A distinctly modern, luxurious take on the traditional European kitchen, LG Studio combines sophisticated styling with the latest innovations in home appliance technology. Each product in the LG Studio has been specifically designed to form part of a total, integrated kitchen solution for performance, convenience and a sense of visual harmony. LG Studio offers a full complement of modern kitchen necessities, including refrigerators, built-in ovens, cooktops, microwave ovens and dishwashers that represent the marriage of functionality and refined European style.

LG Built-in Electric Oven: Keeping Itself Clean

LG’s proprietary built-in technology helps create a friendly kitchen by generating energy savings across the entire LG Studio range. EasyClean™ is a self-cleaning function offered in LG’s built-in electric ovens that delivers a clean oven interior in as little as 20 minutes. Without the need for harsh chemicals and scrubbing, EasyClean™ transforms cleaning into three simple steps: spray the interior with water, run the 20 minute EasyClean™ cycle with the simple touch of a button, wipe down the enamel-coated interior when the cycle is complete.

LG Built-in Refrigerators: Foods Kept Fresher While Saving Energy

LG Built-in Refrigerators possess Total No Frost, an indirect cooling system which optimizes airflow in the unit’s various compartments for longer food freshness. And LG’s advanced Inverter Linear Compressor featured in LG Built-in Refrigerators employs a linear piston drive instead of a conventional reciprocating drive, generating less internal friction for greater reliability and durability as well as lower energy requirements and noise. The Moist Balance Crisper™, a special lattice-type fruit and vegetable box cover, reabsorbs evaporated moisture from fruit and vegetables for longer freshness. What’s more, the upgraded Hygiene Fresh+™ air purification system uses a highly effective 4-step process including UV LED lighting to eliminate harmful bacteria commonly found inside refrigerators. And with the Zero Clearance door, which open a full 90 degrees even in the tightest space, all the drawers can be fully extended for convenient access to one’s favor foods.

LG Built-in Dishwasher: Providing a Smart Clean

LG Built-in Dishwasher delivers sparkling results using TrueSteam™ technology which is activated when the unit’s Steam Power mode is engaged. TrueSteam™ discharges high-temperature steam particles ― 1/1600 the size of normal water droplets ― from precisely aimed pressure nozzles so that food particles are dispersed and dishes are left immaculately clean. Steam temperature and pressure are managed by the dishwasher’s built-in steam generator, which is gentle yet powerful enough to remove tough stains such as lipstick. The revolutionary TrueSteam-equipped LG Built-in Dishwasher removes the inconvenience of pre-washing dishes by hand. And LG Built-in Dishwasher’s amazing energy efficiency (A++) is made possible by LG’s unique Inverter Direct Drive. This advanced motor technology optimizes the power needed for each load by directly and more efficiently transferring energy from the motor to the water spray system.

LG Built-in Electric Hob & Hood: The Complete Kitchen

The LG Built-in Electric Hob features illuminated visual indicators, allowing for the active plates to be easily identified, the Built-in Hood offers electronic touch control with features such as an off-timer, filter saturation indicator and the self-timing intensive mode for ease-of-use.

“Today’s customers want their kitchens to be functional and visually appealing at the same time,” said Seong-jin Jo, president and CEO of the LG Electronics Home Appliance Company. “LG Studio offers the best of both, fusing the understated elegance of European design with the power, precision and efficiency of LG’s industry leading technologies. Our built-in package is ideal for those who enjoy the culinary arts, interior décor and, of course, convenience.”

LG’S LATEST WASHING MACHINES PRIORITIZE TIME AND ENERGY SAVINGS

Newest Innovative Models to Debut at This Year’s IFA 2014 in Berlin

A front view of LG’s front-load washing machine equipped with the company’s revolutionary TurboWash™ technology and 6 Motion Direct Drive (Series S)

SEOUL, Sep. 2, 2014 — Featuring the company’s revolutionary TurboWash™ technology and 6 Motion Direct Drive, LG will introduce at IFA 2014 its newest energy-efficient washing machine that can complete a full wash cycle in only 49 minutes. Thanks to TurboWash™, LG’s latest washers not only meet the requirements for A+++ energy efficiency, they exceed them by 55 percent. The latest washing machines also help homeowners cut their electricity bills and decrease their energy footprint, all without sacrificing performance. Faster washing results while still saving time and water are what make LG’s TurboWash™ technology in washing convenience.
TurboWash™ Technology
The revolutionary TurboWash™ feature of LG’s front-load washing machine can save 36 minutes1 with a half load on cotton cycle for impressive energy savings. The most commonly used washing cycles — Cotton, Cotton Large, Mix and Easy Care — require only 49 to 59 minutes from start to finish. Setting the washing machine to TurboWash™ mode reduces energy consumption by up to 15 percent and water consumption by up to 40 percent 2, delivering dual benefits of faster washing and lower utility bills. What’s more, during the rinse cycle, LG’s proprietary Jet Spray nozzle sprays water with great force for two minutes, helping to more completely remove detergent from clothes with less water and energy.
6 Motion Direct Drive Technology
LG’s 6 Motion Direct Drive uses a combination of six different pre-set programs to deliver customized washing for various types of clothes. As effective as washing by hand, 6 Motion Direct Drive Technology helps to reduce wrinkles and damage in clothes, improving fabric care. And thanks to the advanced Inverter Direct Drive motor, LG’s washers operate quietly and are less prone to vibrations, confidence which is reflected in LG backing its motor with a 10-year warranty.
TrueSteam™ Technology
LG’s latest front-load washing machine incorporates TrueSteam™ technology with the following features: Steam Softener, Steam Refresh and Allergy Care. The Steam Softener function maintains the original quality of fabrics and eliminates the need for chemical-based fabric softeners. Steam Refresh employs steam instead of water for a truly deep clean, reducing wrinkles and odors from delicate clothes in just 20 minutes. TrueSteam™ removes allergens, mites and residual detergent, all which have been linked to respiratory and skin ailments.
Smart Connectivity and Convenience
LG has long been at the forefront of smart technology and in 2014, the company is introducing enhanced connectivity and greater user convenience, including the ability to download new washing programs. Near Field Communication (NFC) makes it possible to quickly pair and exchange data between smartphones and LG smart appliances. Using NFC tagging technology, users can download new washing programs such as Wool, Baby Care and Cold Wash which can be activated by simply touching the smartphone to the NFC Tag On symbol on the washing machine. NFC is also employed in the Smart Diagnosis™ feature which quickly and efficiently troubleshoots most minor issues, avoiding costly, inconvenient service calls and in-home visits.
Revolutionary Eco-Hybrid Technology and Smart Design
LG’s Eco-Hybrid washer-dryers feature both Air drying and Normal drying modes, whereas most washing machines only offer one or the other. Each of these convenient and efficient options delivers A-grade energy savings. Compared with LG conventional drying modes, LG’s powerful Air drying setting can save users nearly 7,000 liters of water per year.3 And at 24-inch standard size, LG’s Eco-Hybrid washer-dryer boasts the world’s first 12kg washing capacity and 8kg drying capacity, effectively reducing a household’s washing frequency by approximately 91 loads per year.4
LG’s Eco-Hybrid dryer features an Eco mode and a Speed mode, letting homeowners choose between optimal energy and time savings. Using sophisticated heat pump technology, Eco mode achieves up to A+++-10 percent energy efficiency while Speed mode provides up to A++ energy efficiency and takes 30 percent less time 5 to complete a cycle, leaving more time to take care of the important things in life. An ideal solution for drying delicate items, LG’s Eco-Hybrid dryers can dry clothes even at low temperatures, reducing fabric damage and shrinkage.
And LG’s new washing machines boast a seamless and sleek design that brings a touch of sophistication to every home. Each model in the lineup offers a full touch control panel that is angled for maximum visibility, along with a white LED display and a black door with a hidden handle.
“With the hectic pace of modern life, today’s consumers have less and less time for household chores,” said Seong-jin Jo, president and CEO of the LG Electronics Home Appliance Company. “Our new front-load washing machine with revolutionary TurboWash™ technology works quickly without compromising performance. Faster washing cycles give the consumer the freedom to spend more time relaxing or engaging in more important things, such as spending time with family.”
Visitors to IFA are encouraged to see LG’s impressive new washing machines up close in Hall 11.2 of Messe Berlin from September 5–10.

LG SHOWCASES LATEST RANGE OF ENERGY EFFICIENT REFRIGERATORS AT IFA 2014

Cutting-Edge Refrigerators Deliver Enhanced Performance,

Energy Savings, Style and Convenience

LG Multi-Door refrigerator with water dispenser (GMJ916NSHV)

SEOUL, Sep. 1, 2014 — LG Electronics (LG) is introducing its newest lineup of energy efficient refrigerators at IFA 2014 in Berlin, Germany featuring a range of models offering excellent energy savings and convenience designed specifically with high European standards in mind. LG’s evolutionary refrigerators help keep food fresher longer while making food storage and organization easier and more convenient.

Superb Energy Savings with LG’s Revolutionary Inverter Linear Compressor

With an incredible Total No Frost energy grade rating of A+++ -20%, LG’s bottom-freezer refrigerators are industry leaders in efficiency. This can be attributed to its advanced Inverter Linear Compressor, which employs a straight piston drive instead of a conventional reciprocating drive, resulting in less internal friction, higher reliability, greater durability with less noise. In tests conducted by VDE, LG refrigerators featuring Inverter Linear Compressor technology proved to be approximately 32 percent more energy efficientthan those equipped with conventional reciprocating compressors, contributing significantly to lower electricity bills. VDE also noted that LG’s refrigerator was up to 25 percent quietercompared to another refrigerator powered by a reciprocating compressor. And thanks to its strong durability, LG’s Inverter Linear Compressor comes with 10-year warranty.

Innovative Door-in-Door™ for Quick & Easy Access with Less Cold Air Loss

LG’s convenient Door-in-Door™ design makes it easier to reach frequently consumed food and beverages in the refrigerator while reducing the amount of cold air that escapes from the main refrigerator compartment by up to 41 percent3, keeping food fresher longer. LG’s adjustable Moving Basket combines with a handy drawer section to enable custom configurations. Each member of the family can easily adjust the height of the different interior compartments according to their own needs. This proven Door-in-Door™ feature has been adopted by all of LG’s global refrigerators, including side-by-side, multi-door and top freezer.

Smarter Storage in a Bigger Space for Maximum Flexibility

A thinner insulation wall enables LG’s new four-door refrigerator to boast a cavernous internal capacity. The central partition typically found in two door refrigerators has also been eliminated, allowing the refrigerator to create even more usable food and beverage storage space. What’s more, the convenience enhancing Smart Storage System features space management technology that improves storage separation and also helps owners organize the contents of their refrigerator in more creative ways.

Total No Frost with Intelligent Air Management for Fresher Food

Whereas most conventional internal-airflow systems disperse cool air inconsistently, LG’s advanced Total No Frost technology, featured in all LG refrigerators, offers even cooling throughout the interior. Thanks to the Multi Air Flow system, cool air is circulated through multiple vents, ensuring efficient cooling at an even temperature throughout. And LG’s unique Pure N Fresh air filtration system employs a powerful fan to remove odors while at the same time introducing purified air through fresh air flow channels, ensuring that food stays fresh longer.

Smart Technology and Convenience Enhancing Features

LG’s Smart Diagnosis™ feature, offered in some LG models, allowing call center representatives to quickly diagnose any problems in the refrigerator without having to make a house call. The lattice-type box cover of the Moist Balance Crisper™ improves moisture retention, helping to boost the longevity of vegetables and fruits. Located in the main refrigerator compartment, the convenient Fresh 0 Zone is an ideal place to store meats and fish, as users can access these oft-used items immediately without having to freeze and thaw them.

LG’s new contour glass bottom-freezer refrigerator (model GBB930KRQZT) is a 2014 Red Dot Design Award winner that pairs refined aesthetics with thoughtfully designed features. The contour glass exterior of this unique and premium model offers a combination of luxurious modern style and impressive performance.

“European consumers rank energy efficiency as the top factor when choosing home appliances,” said Seong-jin Jo, president and CEO of the LG Electronics Home Appliance Company. “LG’s latest refrigerators have been engineered with this fact in mind. Each model employs an array of cutting-edge technologies that reduce one’s carbon footprint while enhancing performance and user convenience.”

Visitors to IFA are encouraged to come see LG’s lineup of stylish and energy efficient refrigerators for themselves at LG’s booth in Hall 11.2 of Messe Berlin.
