LG Expands its Industry Leading Collection of OLED TVs and ULTRA HD TVs
Offering Differentiated Home Entertainment Solutions Three visitors view two rows of LG’s CURVED OLED TVs on show at IFA 2013.

BERLIN, Sep. 5, 2013 — LG Electronics (LG) is driving the evolution of technology and design in the exciting next generation TV market. At IFA 2013 in Berlin, LG is showcasing its comprehensive range of advanced TVs equipped with incredible picture quality, stunning design and innovative technologies. The lineup includes the CURVED OLED TV (Model 55EA9800), the artistically inspired GALLERY OLED TV (Model 55EA8800), an upgraded version of the 84-inch ULTRA HD TV (Model 84LA9800) and more affordable 55- and 65-inch ULTRA HD TVs (LA9650 Series).

“We feel that IFA 2013 is the perfect opportunity to show Europe and the world just how committed we are to leading the next generation TV market,” said Havis Kwon, president and CEO of LG Home Entertainment Company. “It is a point of pride that we were able to bring a CURVED OLED TV and an ULTRA HD TV to market before the competition and we will continue to expand and improve our industry leading television technology.”

World’s First: LG CURVED OLED TV

First showcased at CES 2013 and already available in South Korea, US and Germany, LG’s groundbreaking CURVED OLED TV marks the beginning of a whole new era in home entertainment. Its panoramic curvature guarantees an amazingly immersive and comfortable viewing experience and thanks to LG’s WRGB OLED technology, the 55EA9800 features infinite contrast ratio with deeper blacks and brighter whites than a conventional RGB display. Furthermore, the screen delivers incredible color accuracy regardless of ambient light or viewing angle.

Only 4.3mm (0.17 inches) thin and weighing just 17kg (37.48 pounds), the CURVED OLED TV is simply stunning to behold. The breathtaking, modern design of the 55EA9800 features the flowing, almost transparent Crystal Stand. LG’s forward-facing Clear Speakers are unobtrusively incorporated into the Crystal Stand to deliver flawless audio with remarkable fidelity in the mid- to high-frequency ranges.

True Masterpiece: GALLERY OLED TV

Also on display at this year’s IFA is the latest addition to LG’s acclaimed OLED TV series —the art inspired 55-inch GALLERY OLED TV. This first ever wall mountable OLED TV illustrates the company’s ability to create differentiated, well designed home entertainment solutions.

The elegant art frame cleverly and seamlessly conceals a powerful 2.2 channel speakers. Gallery Mode enables owners to enjoy high resolution digital images of iconic paintings and personal photos when the TV is not in use. As with all of LG’s innovative OLED TVs, the 55EA8800 employs proprietary WRGB OLED picture technology for vivid, lifelike colors with a wide viewing angle.

Sharpest Picture Quality: ULTRA HD TV

LG ULTRA HD TVs deliver a strong combination of astonishing picture quality — four times the resolution of Full HD TV — and stunning sound. Following the introduction of the world’s first 84-inch and premium 55- and 65-inch ULTRA HD TVs (LA9700 Series), LG is now unveiling at IFA 2013 more affordable 55- and 65-inch units (LA9650 Series) and an upgraded version of its 84-inch ULTRA HD TV (84LA9800) .

Both the LA9650 and LA9700 series feature a built-in HEVC (High Efficiency Video Coding) decoder, which can play Ultra HD content directly from a USB flash drive, an industry first. Thanks to LG’s Tru-ULTRA HD Engine, these TVs can upscale any type of content to near UHD quality to deliver incredible Ultra HD picture quality with a 178-degree viewing angle and sharp, blur-free images. The LA9700 series goes a step further with NANO FULL LED backlighting for improved contrast, brightness and color consistency.

What’s more, the LA9700 units are equipped with a 4.1 channel, 50W audio system with forward-facing Sliding Speaker while the LA9650 TVs come with speakers mounted on either side of the screen. The 84LA9800 boasts a 2.2 channel, 310W audio system with speakers on both sides of the immense screen for a true cinema quality experience.

Visitors to LG’s booth at IFA 2013 will be able to enjoy works of art by artists such as Romero Britto and Yang-min Ha displayed on LG’s ULTRA HD TVs. The marriage of art and technology is perfectly illustrated on LG’s lineup of next generation TV products at this year’s IFA.

Awards and Certifications

LG’s next generation OLED TV has received a number of awards and certifications from prestigious organizations over the past year. LG’s CURVED OLED TV has been honored with the European Design TV 2013-2014 award from EISA and the Red Dot: Best of the Best award. It has also received picture quality certifications from respected organizations such as TÜV Rheinland, Intertek, VDE, Intertek and Underwrites Laboratories (UL) and became the first OLED TV to acquire THX certification.

All of LG’s next generation TV products will be on display at IFA 2013 in Hall 11.2 of Messe Berlin.

LG UNVEILS LATEST RANGE OF ENERGY EFFICIENT REFRIGERATORS AT IFA 2013

Equipped with Door-in-Door™ and Inverter Linear Compressor,

LG’s New Refrigerators Lead the Industry in Innovation

Front view of LG’s side-by-side refrigerator

BERLIN, Sep. 5, 2013 — At IFA 2013 in Berlin, LG Electronics (LG) is showcasing its latest lineup of side-by-side and bottom-freezer refrigerators which offer consumers more energy savings and convenience than ever before.

LG’s side-by-side refrigerators are equipped with convenience enhancing features such as Door-in-Door™ for quick access to favorite snacks and drinks. Door-in-Door™ comes with handy customizable basket sections, enabling family members to have their very own storage compartments. The energy efficient bottom-freezer models incorporate the Total No Frost feature, which offers faster and more even cooling to keep food fresh even longer. And LG’s convenient Smart Diagnosis™ provides consumers with a quick and effective way to troubleshoot any issues with their units. These new refrigerators deliver even reliability and energy efficiency thanks to LG’s powerful Inverter Linear Compressor, which comes with a 10-year warranty.

“When selecting home appliances, European consumers look for a combination of performance, user convenience and energy efficiency,” said Seong-jin Jo, president and CEO of the LG Electronics Home Appliance Company. “We’re confident that our newest lineup of advanced refrigerator models will prove popular with European consumers.”

Door-in-Door

LG’s highly convenient Door-in-Door™ makes it easier to reach frequently sought after food and beverage items and also helps reduce cold air loss from escaping the main refrigerator compartment. By helping to reduce temperature fluctuations that occur whenever the refrigerator door is opened, the Door-in-Door™ helps to keep food fresh longer.

Inverter Linear Compressor

LG’s proprietary Inverter Linear Compressor enables the refrigerators to provide industry leading energy efficiency and food freshness, reduced noise levels and durability. In comparison to a reciprocating drive system, the company’s piston-driven compressor generates less internal friction and offers more precise cooling control, which ensures lower energy consumption. The Inverter Linear Compressor comes with a 10-year parts warranty.

Total No Frost

LG’s newest refrigerators are also equipped with a Total No Frost feature. Most conventional internal-airflow systems disperse cool air inconsistently. LG’s advanced design guarantees even cooling throughout the refrigerator’s entire interior. Thanks to the new Multi Air Flow system, lunch meat stored on the top shelf of the fridge will stay just as cool as vegetables kept on the bottom shelf. Total No Frost cools down warm food much faster than other refrigerators and is more energy efficient than other internal-airflow systems.

Smart Diagnosis™

If an LG refrigerator experiences any problems, the Smart Diagnosis™ feature allows call center representatives to quickly diagnose the issue over the phone. What’s more, the Smart Diagnosis™ smartphone app allows homeowners to record and analyze signals from the refrigerator for immediate advice on repair options. An effective means of troubleshooting potential issues, Smart Diagnosis™ is the ideal solution for today’s busy customers who don’t have the time to waste on costly, inconvenient service visits.

Convenience-enhancing Features

LG’s bottom-freezer refrigerators come with a number of convenience-enhancing features that make consumers’ lives easier. The lattice-type box cover of the Moist Balance Crisper™ improves moisture retention, helping to boost the longevity of food items. Located in the main refrigerator compartment, the convenient Fresh 0 Zone is an ideal place to store meats and fish, as users can access these oft-used items immediately without having to freeze and thaw them. For smaller kitchens, the Zero Clearance door can be opened to a 90-degree angle even if the refrigerator is placed close to a wall. In this position all drawers can be fully extended, making access to food much easier.

And finally, the sleek, attractive Easy Open Handle makes it possible to open the refrigerator door with a minimal amount of effort. Another impressive feature is LG’s Non-Plumed Ice & Water, which adds a new level of convenience to the water and ice dispensers. Users can simply pour water into a tank, no installation or external water connection hoses are required and there are no filters to change. The Non-Plumed Ice & Water ensures that the family has access to convenient, hassle-free water and ice at all times.

LG SHOWCASES LATEST BIG CAPACITY WASHING MACHINES AND NEW ECO-HYBRID PRODUCTS AT IFA 2013

LG’s 6 Motion Direct Drive Equipped Washers and Dryers

with New Eco Hybrid Technology Save Energy, Water and Time

Front view of the LG 12kg front-load washing machine

BERLIN, Sep. 5, 2013 — LG Electronics (LG) is showcasing its new range of 12kg big capacity washing machines and its new Eco-Hybrid washer-dryers and dryers at IFA 2013. The washing machines boast LG’s proprietary 6 Motion Direct Drive and TrueSteam™ technologies, ensuring powerful and hygienic washing performance. LG’s 12kg big capacity washing machines are 40 percent more energy efficient than other LG A+++ washing machines. Moreover, LG’s new washer-dryers equipped with innovative Eco-Hybrid technology offer a new Air-drying system in addition to normal drying modes. Each finely tuned setting has been optimized to achieve energy efficiency with water or time saving.

“LG’s highly acclaimed washing machines provide both strong and delicate performance for consumer benefits,” said Seong-jin Jo, president and CEO of the LG Electronics Home Appliance Company. “They can wash larger loads while using less energy and water, which is what consumers have been asking for. What’s more, our new Eco-Hybrid washer-dryers allow homeowners to better manage electricity and water consumption for lower utility bills and less environmental impact. There are absolutely no compromises.”

LG’s advanced 6 Motion Direct Drive motor uses a combination of six different motions to deliver customized washes for various types of clothes with fewer wrinkles and less damage. In addition, thanks to the Inverter Direct Drive motor, LG washers perform quietly and reliably. LG backs the durability and reliability of its Inverter Direct Drive motor with a 10-year warranty while VDE[1], Germany’s scientific and technical association, evaluated and certified that the Inverter Direct Drive had a lifespan of 22 years.

LG’s front–load washing machine also incorporates the unique TrueSteam™ technology, which includes the Steam Refresh function. Instead of water, steam is used to remove wrinkles and odors from clothes in just 20 minutes, leaving deep clean results. Moreover, LG’s TrueSteam™ technology helps to remove allergens, mites and even residual detergent, all of which have been linked to respiratory and skin allergies. In recognition of these features, LG’s steam washer has been certified by the British Allergy Foundation.

Eco-Hybrid Washer-Dryer

LG’s Eco-Hybrid washer-dryers provide users with both Air-drying and normal drying modes, whereas most washing machines only offer one or the other. Each of these convenient and efficient options delivers A-grade energy savings. Compared with LG conventional drying modes, LG’s powerful Air-drying setting can save users nearly 7,000liters of water per year.[2]

At 24-inch standard size, LG’s Eco-Hybrid washer-dryer boasts the world’s first 12kg washing capacity and 8kg drying capacity, effectively reducing a household’s washing frequency by approximately 91 washes per year.[3]Moreover, LG’s innovative new Dual Ball Balancer and Damping System help to maintain load balance and reduce noise created by internal vibrations.

Eco-Hybrid Dryer

LG’s Eco-Hybrid dryer features an Eco mode and a Speed mode, letting the owner choose between optimal energy and time savings. Using sophisticated heat pump technology, Eco mode achieves A++ energy efficiency. Speed mode also provides energy efficiency, with an A grade while taking 30 percent less time[4] to complete a cycle. An ideal solution for delicate items, LG’s Eco-Hybrid dryers can dry clothes even at low temperatures, reducing fabric damage and shrinkage.

These advanced dryers are also equipped with LG’s unique Auto Cleaning System, which cleans the dryer’s condenser up to seven times per cycle. Built to stand up to repeated usage, this durable system optimizes energy efficiency as well as drying performance. Moreover, any build-up of lint in the condenser over time is also reduced.

LG TO SHOWCASE SMART HOME AT IFA 2013

LG’s Latest Appliances Feature Smart Food Management, Smart Remote Control

and Monitoring, One Touch Connection for Enhanced Convenience

Infographic showing an LG smart home with connected smart appliances, including a TV, refrigerator, washing machine, microwave oven and vacuum cleaner which are all compatible with the Smart Control app

SEOUL, Sep. 4, 2013 — At IFA 2013, LG Electronics (LG) will showcase its smart appliance lineup, offering upgraded efficiency and convenience. By simply touching their smartphones to the NFC Tag-on symbol on one of LG’s smart appliances and through Smart Control, customers can easily register and control their refrigerator, washing machine, robotic vacuum cleaner or oven and remotely monitor the appliances.

“At this year’s IFA, LG will demonstrate its advanced, convenience-enhancing smart home appliances,” said Seong-jin Jo, president and CEO of the LG Electronics Home Appliance Company. “LG’s upgraded smart technology gives users the ability to control their appliances, no matter where they are. Owners can begin their evening’s wash while driving home from work so wet laundry doesn’t sit in the washing machine all day. They can also tell their robotic cleaner to vacuum the floor to receive unplanned guests or bring up a list of food items in the refrigerator that are nearing their expiration dates. LG’s enhanced device-to-device connectivity offers incredible convenience, as users can monitor household appliances through their TVs while still watching their favorite shows. It’s a smart home for those who want the smart lifestyle.”

LG differentiates its smart appliances with two separate but highly complementary sets of technologies. LG’s four Core Technologies – the Inverter Linear Compressor, Inverter Direct Drive, KOMPRESSOR™ and Lightwave – enable superior performance and savings, while LG’s innovative smart technologies – Smart Manager, Smart Diagnosis™, Smart Access, Smart Adapt and Smart Grid Ready – create greater user convenience.

A Smart Refrigerator to Revolutionize Food Management

Built around the company’s signature Inverter Linear Compressor, LG’s smart refrigerator is equipped with a full range of smart technologies. First among them is Smart Manager, which transforms the refrigerator into a complete food management system. Customers can use the LCD panel or their smartphones to check what’s inside without opening the door. With the Smart Manager’s Freshness Tracker, users can input various foods and check their expiration dates. Additionally, the Smart Manager recommends dishes to cook based on which ingredients are available in the refrigerator.

The Smart Access feature lets users check the status of their LG appliances via a smartphone, wherever they may be. So rather than keeping track of a cumbersome shopping list, LG smart refrigerator owners can simply call up a list of what’s in their kitchen fridge directly from the supermarket on their iOS or Android phones through the LG Smart Refrigerator app.

Smart Shopping[1] is another new feature of Smart Manager that enables online grocery shopping directly from the refrigerator’s LCD panel. Items can be automatically purchased when current supplies are running low or they can be selected and ordered manually. Smart Shopping eliminates the need to ever visit a supermarket again, saving time, gas and increasing convenience.

LG’s unique Health Manager1 feature recommends individual recipes, as well as daily and weekly meal plans, based on the owner’s personal profile. The user’s age, gender, weight and height as well as information such as allergies are entered into the database to create an appropriate, personalized meal plan.

LG’s Smart Diagnosis™ has undergone an impressive upgrade, allowing LG’s smart products to better self-assess problems and inform the user. Through a Wi-Fi connection, NFC tagging and audible diagnosis alerts, the owner is quickly made aware of any minor issues such as when the ice maker is turned off, which helps limit costly, inconvenient service calls and in-home visits by customer service.

LG’s smart refrigerator is also Smart Grid Ready, meaning it can automatically adjust its temperature and settings, creating a practical smart energy-saving solution. LG’s smart refrigerator also features Delay Defrost Capability, which can reduce power consumption during specific hours of the day. In addition, instead of just displaying step-by-step instructions, LG’s smart refrigerator recommends recipes to make based on ingredients already in the refrigerator via instructional videos.

A Smart Washing Machine with Wi-Fi/NFC Tag Smart Diagnosis™

LG’s smart washing machine incorporates Smart Diagnosis™, Smart Access, Smart Adapt and Smart Grid Ready features. Using Wi-Fi, NFC tagging and audible diagnosis, LG’s Smart Diagnosis™ alerts the user of technical issues, while the Smart Adapt feature makes it possible to download washing cycle courses— such as Baby Wear or Air-Refresh — via smartphone or directly from the washing machine’s LCD panel. Users can then monitor the status of the smart washing machine and select options via a smartphone or an LG smart TV.

Smart Access keeps owners in touch with their washing machine regardless of their location. Homeowners no longer need to worry when leaving the house with the washer running as Smart Access makes it possible to monitor its status wirelessly. Functions and settings can be remotely adjusted and pop-up messages appear on the user’s smartphone or LG smart TV when a wash or dry cycle has been completed. The Washing Coach Function guides consumers on how much detergent is necessary for optimal results and notifies the user when it’s time to clean the drum. Ideal for beginners, the One Touch Washing function simplifies the task of doing laundry, allowing users to select what type of clothes are being washed via a smartphone app. Using NFC, LG’s washing machine then automatically sets the washing options and appropriate course.

A Smarter Oven for Smarter Cooking
LG’s Smart Oven comes equipped with Smart Access, Smart Adapt and Smart Diagnosis™, which opens up a whole new range of smarter cooking possibilities. With a Wi-Fi connection, home chefs can monitor the status of their ovens, search for recipes and set cooking modes. Even without Wi-Fi, NFC gives users the ability to program the oven for a particular recipe as well as diagnose a problem using their mobile devices. Moreover, while the normal cooking process involves having to manually set the cooking mode, temperature and time, this process can simply be achieved with a smartphone through the One Touch Cooking setting. And because many European homes have closed kitchens making it difficult to know when dishes are done, owners can be notified when their food is done while watching their favorite shows on an LG smart TV.

Smart HOM-BOT: So Much More Than a Vacuum

LG’s latest HOM-BOT SQUARE is also equipped with upgraded smart technology. For example, the Smart Control feature lets customers control the Smart HOM-BOT SQUARE with a smartphone, wherever they are in the house. No longer is there a need to manually push the start button or to search all over looking for the remote control.

And Cleaning History makes it simple for customers to check the Smart HOM-BOT SQUARE’s cleaning results. With Map View, it’s possible to see what has been cleaned and what hasn’t, saving time if one needs to operate the Smart HOM-BOT SQUARE again. Moreover, owners can use their smartphones to easily set up cleaning schedules for completely automated operation and update the HOM-BOT SQUARE’s software. Smart Diagnosis™ makes troubleshooting much easier, quickly alerting the consumer to any minor issues and suggests possible solutions.

The greater reach of the brushes combined with the square shape of the cleaner leaves dust few places to hide. Ultrasonic and infrared sensors enable the HOM-BOT SQUARE to detect and avoid obstacles with ease. Thanks to its Learning Function, the HOM-BOT SQUARE can also recognize the areas it has cleaned on previous jobs. And a low noise level of just 60dBA means the HOM-BOT SQUARE can clean without causing a disturbance and with a height of just 89mm, its slimmed-down design enables it to maneuver around the home with ease, even under most furniture.

The HOM-BOT SQUARE is equipped with a number of features such as a larger capacity Easy-out Dust Bin, a larger and upgraded HEPA 11 filter and Turbo Mode which lets users manually set cleaning functions to the requirements of their flooring. Users will further enjoy a host of convenient features such as Voice Guidance and Smart Diagnosis that troubleshoots problems more easily. And unlike most other robot vacuums, the HOM-BOT SQUARE is powered by a lithium polymer battery that runs and lasts longer.

KOMPRESSOR FOLLOW ME™ with Automatic Following Technology

LG’s new KOMPRESSOR FOLLOW ME™ follows the user’s path, so customers no longer need to constantly carry the canister from room to room when vacuuming. Using Automatic Location Recognition Technology and Active Following Wheel Technology, the vacuum cleaner uses four interconnected sensors located on its body and handle to monitor and maintain a comfortable distance of approximately 100cm from the user. Sensors installed on the body automatically detect the handle’s movement. Following detection, the sensors trigger the Active Following Wheel Technology to enable effortless, smooth and paced movement in accordance with the user.

The KOMPRESSOR FOLLOW ME™ is equipped with LG’s proprietary KOMPRESSOR™ technology, which uses a motorized dust compression system within the bagless bin to compress the collected debris. This technology also reduces messy dust clouds when emptying the dustbin.

Cordless Bedding Cleaner for More Hygienic Bedding

At this year’s IFA, LG will showcase its new cordless Bedding Cleaner, which enables even more hassle-free vacuuming be eliminating the power cord. LG’s Bedding Cleaner handheld vacuum protects the health of consumers by effectively reducing the number of dust mites and harmful allergens in beds and mattresses. The Dual Punch™ feature pounds the surface 8,000 times per minute, helping to remove even the most stubborn of dust mites, while the soft rotating brush is ideal for picking up hairs and fibers from sheets and pillows. With a powerful suction and three levels of deep cleaning, the Bedding Cleaner offers customers the utmost in household hygiene.

The Dual HEPA filter of the Bedding Cleaner includes a multi-filtration system that removes dust, odor and germs from the home environment. The built-in UV sterilization station ensures both the hygiene of the consumer’s bedding and of the cleaner itself, reducing the chance of secondary contamination.

Weighing a mere 1.8kg, LG’s Bedding Cleaner also features an ergonomically designed tilted body and handle so that it can be easily picked up and operated with one hand, causing minimal stress on the hands and back. Equipped with an Easy-out Dust Bin, owners can conveniently and easily empty the dustbin with the One Touch button. SEOUL, Sep. 3, 2013 — LG Electronics (LG) announced that its washing machine (Model F14A8QDA) is the first in the global home appliance industry to receive the Water Footprint verification from Norway’s Det Norske Veritas (DNV), an independent foundation that evaluates and certifies the performance of products across a wide variety of industries globally. LG’s washing machine was recognized for meeting strict water evaluation methods set by the DNV for the entire lifecycle of the product, including manufacturing, distribution, usage and disposal.

“At LG we understand the global importance placed on water issues and are making a conscious effort to show this in the development of our appliances,” said Seong-jin Jo, president and CEO of the LG Home Appliance Company. “LG’s goal is to lead the global home appliance industry with water efficient products developed with long-term sustainability in mind. We’re delighted to receive this recognition, which complements the accolades our appliances have received for their low carbon footprints.”

The DNV recognition can largely be attributed to LG’s proprietary 6 Motion Direct Drive technology. By automatically calculating the laundry load and how much water is needed, LG’s washing machine uses the precise amount of water necessary to prevent waste. Moreover, the advanced technology equipped in the washing machine enables the drum to rotate at various speeds and in different directions. Using six different motions including wave force, agitating, rubbing, compressing, rotating and swing the washing machine ensures care for the widest variety of fabrics, while consuming less water.

The washer will be showcased at LG’s booth in Hall 11.2 at the IFA trade show in Berlin.

A stylish addition to the company’s next generation TV lineup, the new model features an elegantly understated frame that incorporates the powerful yet unobtrusive Canvas Speaker. The unique design and impressive audio capabilities of the GALLERY OLED TV complement LG’s industry leading OLED TV lineup. As the first wall-mountable 55-inch OLED TV ever produced, the GALLERY OLED TV is an eye-catching statement of LG’s excellence in television technology and design.

“Our GALLERY OLED TV comprises the perfect blend of subtle beauty, unmatched picture quality and immersive sound,” said Havis Kwon, president and CEO of the LG Electronics Home Entertainment Company. “Challenging the status quo, this beautifully designed and engineered product is a clear example of our ability to think beyond the ordinary and provide consumers with a differentiated experience.”

Stylish Picture Frame with Canvas Speakers

Cleverly disguised within a faux art mat, the forward-facing Canvas Speakers enhance the viewing experience with rich, full-bodied audio. In keeping with the artistic theme, Gallery Mode enables the user to view high-resolution digital images of paintings by legendary artists such as Vincent van Gogh and Paul Gauguin. Gallery Mode also makes it possible to watch a slide show of one’s favorite personal or family photos.

Ultimate Picture Quality

Earlier this year, LG captured the attention of consumers, the media and the home entertainment industry by being the first company to commercially launch both the 55-inch OLED TV and the 55-inch CURVED OLED TV. The company’s groundbreaking OLED TVs employ proprietary WRGB technology, which incorporates an additional white sub-pixel, guaranteeing the sharpest, most lifelike images. LG’s incredibly slim and lightweight OLED TVs offer an impressively wide viewing angle, ensuring perfect picture quality regardless of the viewer’s position.

GALLERY OLED TV will be launched this month in Germany with other markets to follow.

Visitors to IFA will be able to experience the GALLERY OLED TV firsthand at the LG Electronics stand in Hall 11.2 of Messe Berlin.

LG SHOWCASES ITS SMART HOM-BOT SQUARE IN THE CREATIVE FASHION AT IFA 2013

The Ultimate in Consumer Convenience, LG’s Latest HOM-BOT SQUARE
Is Equipped with Enhanced Smart Features that Offer Greater Control

Top view of LG Smart HOM-BOT SQUARE

BERLIN, Sep. 2, 2013 — LG Electronics (LG) will showcase its latest square robotic vacuum cleaner, the Smart HOM-BOT SQUARE at IFA 2013 in Berlin, Germany.

The Smart HOM-BOT SQUARE offers a significant boost in cleaning performance, thanks largely to LG’s impressive Corner Master. Furthermore, the new robotic vacuum cleaner is also equipped with LG’s innovative smart technologies — Smart Control, Cleaning History, Smart Diagnosis™ and Software Update —allowing the user to remotely control the Smart HOM-BOT SQUARE with a smartphone.

“Smart HOM-BOT SQUARE makes cleaning hard-to-reach places effortless because it was designed to recognize that corners in homes are sharp angles, not curved,” said Seong-jin Jo, president and CEO of the LG Electronics Home Appliance Company. “It made perfect sense to our engineers that a vacuum should take this into account. We also recognized that being able to control and monitor a robotic vacuum cleaner from a smartphone would be tremendously convenient.”

At this year’s IFA, LG’s robotic vacuum cleaners will demonstrate their incredible maneuverability with a perfectly choreographed routine. The entertaining display of skill will be performed at select times throughout this year’s exhibition.

Working Quietly but Thoroughly

LG’s Smart HOM-BOT SQUARE cleans effectively and efficiently thanks to Corner Master, which is comprised of two long brushes, corner detecting sensors and the cleaner’s unique shape. With its angular form and redesigned brushes that are 1.5cm longer than on the previous HOM-BOT, the Smart HOM-BOT SQUARE can remove dust and dirt from the tightest of corners. The corner detecting sensors enable the smart cleaner to know its exact location in the home and directs it to turn when it has reached the edge of a room.

While robotic cleaners typically employ a single camera, the advanced HOM-BOT SQUARE uses two improved Dual Eye 2.0™ cameras for smarter, faster and more efficient cleaning performance. Taking several images per second, the upper and lower cameras scan ceilings, walls and floors, even in the dark. This information is then analyzed by the Smart HOM-BOT SQUARE to generate a smart map. Simultaneously, multiple sensors detect obstacles within a 180-degree field and remembers their locations for collision-free operation. The Smart HOM-BOT SQUARE also features a Learning Function which enables it to recognize areas it has cleaned previously. This helps it to remember the positioning of objects and to sense when an area is already clean, reducing cleaning time and energy.

The low noise level of just 60dBA means the Smart HOM-BOT SQUARE won’t distract when family members are watching TV, talking on the phone or napping. And at only 89mm tall, this robotic cleaner can maneuver around the home with ease, even under most beds, sofas and other large furniture.

The LG Smart HOM-BOT SQUARE’s large capacity Easy-out Dust Bin makes cleaning more convenient as it requires less frequent emptying. Unlike other robotic vacuums where the dust bin is located on the side, the Easy-out Dust Bin is located on the top of the unit for quick and mess-free removal. The larger, upgraded HEPA 11 filter is capable of separating dust particles from the air more thoroughly and also helps eliminate unpleasant odors in the home. Turbo Mode lets users manually adjust the cleaner to match the characteristics of the flooring, while Smart Turbo Mode automatically detects the type of flooring and changes the setting for optimal performance.

Smarter Lives with More Control

LG’s latest HOM-BOT SQUARE is also equipped with upgraded smart technology. For example, the Smart Control feature lets customers control the Smart HOM-BOT SQUARE with a smartphone, wherever they are in the house. No longer is there a need to manually push the start button or to search all over looking for the remote control.

And LG’s Cleaning History makes it simple for customers to check the Smart HOM-BOT SQUARE’s cleaning results. With Map View, it’s possible to see what has been cleaned and what hasn’t, saving time if one needs to operate the Smart HOM-BOT SQUARE again. Moreover, owners can use their smartphones to easily set up cleaning schedules for completely automated operation.

Users will also benefit from a host of other convenient features such as Voice Guidance, which includes over 90 voice alerts. LG’s Smart Diagnosis™ makes troubleshooting much easier, quickly alerting the consumer to any minor issues and suggests possible solutions. What’s more, the improved battery holds a greater charge so owners of the LG Smart HOM-BOT SQUARE can enjoy extended periods of worry-free automated cleaning. The latest LG Smart HOM-BOT also makes it also easy to update the cleaner’s software, or install new software, via a smartphone.

SEOUL, Sep. 1, 2013 — LG Electronics (LG) today announced the LG G Pad 8.3 tablet, the latest addition to its G Series lineup of premium mobile devices. The all-new LG G Pad 8.3 boasts the first Full HD display on an 8-inch class tablet, a unique user-experience and wide range of connectivity features. Pocket-Sized Portability with Powerful Battery

True Convergence Experience with QPair

The LG G Pad 8.3 meets the demanding requirements of the convergence age by improving connectivity between multiple devices. With the unique QPair app, every call and message received on a smartphone will appear on the G Pad for a true convergence experience. Users can then send simple replies through the LG G Pad 8.3. QPair also allows the G Pad to easily connect to other manufacturers’ smartphone and tablets (Jelly Bean OS recommended). Notes created on the G Pad’s QMemo can be seamlessly saved into users’ smartphones and shared from either device.

User Experience Maximized for a Tablet

The LG G Pad 8.3 offers practical features that provide real-life benefits, such as enhanced multitasking. Thanks to its 8.3-inch Full HD Display, user experience (UX) features unique to the LG G Pad 8.3 are maximized for the large screen:

Slide Aside enables seamless multitasking by simply “sliding” currently open apps off to the side using a three-finger swipe

– QSlide controls up to three different apps in one window with no interruption, especially convenient on a large screen
