BARCELONA, Feb. 27, 2013 ㅡ Hot on the heels of the Optimus L7II launch in Russia, LG Electronics (LG) announced that the second model in its new generation Optimus L SeriesII will make its world debut in Brazil this week. This will be followed by single and dual SIM models being introduced in the other markets of South and Central America, Europe, Asia, Middle East and Africa.

Optimus L3II advances the styling and convenience of the original Optimus L3 smartphone with a new flair that complements its user experience. The Optimus L3II continues LG’s design heritage with four new elements that make the device eye catching and fun to use: Seamless Layout, Laser Cut Contour, Radiant Rear Design, and colorful Smart LED Lighting on the home button.

Beyond the phone’s sleek exterior, Optimus L3II offers an upgraded user experience with a stylish makeover. This eliminates the need to split the screen and allows both QuickMemo and the other application to be viewed in full-screen mode simultaneously.

“The Optimus L3II is a versatile phone for the smart and stylish individual,” said Dr. Jong-seok Park, president and CEO of LG Electronics Mobile Communications Company. “Its improved user experience makes this an attractive device for customers who want to express their sense of style without sacrificing functionality.”

The Optimus L3II comes in four colors tailored to users’ individual styles: indigo black, white, pink and titan. Prices will be announced at a later date.

Optimus L3II Key Specifications:

LG INTRODUCES WORLD’S SMALLEST WIRELESS CHARGER

LG’s Thin and Sleek Wireless Charger Delivers Maximum

Charging Performance and User Convenience

A front view of WCP-300.

BARCELONA, Feb. 26, 2013 ㅡ LG Electronics (LG) today introduced the world’s smallest wireless charger at Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona. At only 6.9cm in diameter, the WCP-300 is designed with portability in mind. Despite its diminutive size, the charging area is 1.7 times wider than that of LG’s previous generation wireless charger. The new model is compatible with a standard 5-pin micro-USB charger, providing the highest level of charging performance and user convenience.

The WCP-300 employs electromagnetic induction technology and is Qi certified by the Wireless Power Consortium. Electromagnetic induction produces a magnetic field that in turn generates an electric current to charge the batteries in devices placed on the charging pad. Certification ensures that the WCP-300 is compatible with all smartphones that support the Qi standard.

“Wireless charging is the holy grail of smartphone user convenience,” said Dr. Jong-seok Park, President and CEO of LG Electronics Mobile Communications Company. “With the WCP-300, LG was able to deliver both portability with top-class charging capabilities in a device no larger than a typical beverage coaster.”

In the US market, both the LG Spectrum 2 and Nexus 4 feature built-in support for wireless charging right out of the box, eliminating the need to purchase separate covers. LG believes that built-in support for upcoming smartphones will be the most critical development in making wireless charging the industry standard going forward.

LG is committed to offering consumers a better mobile user experience by introducing smartphones with more advanced wireless charging technologies in the global market.

Latest Mobile Convergence Technology Enables Users to
Enjoy Smartphone Content on Ultra HD TVs

Two models introduce the world's first wireless Ultra HD Transmission technology

SEOUL, Feb. 25, 2013 ㅡ LG Electronics (LG) will showcase its industry-leading Wireless Ultra High Definition (Ultra HD) Transmission technology for the first time at Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2013 in Barcelona. This exciting next generation mobile feature enables users to view games and other smartphone content on Ultra HD TVs in real time, via wireless data transfer.

“Thanks to our innovative Wireless Ultra HD Transmission technology, users can now enjoy their favorite mobile content on today’s most advanced Ultra HD TVs,” said Dr. Jong-seok Park, President and CEO of the LG Electronics Mobile Communications Company. “With the development of this cutting-edge technology, LG again confirms its industry leadership in the area of display and mobile convergence for a truly enjoyable viewing experience.”

Wireless Ultra HD Transmission technology makes the delivery of smartphone multimedia content to TVs faster and smoother than previous mobile video compression and transfer systems. With minimal lag and data loss, LG’s next generation mobile feature performs this feat using ubiquitous Wi-Fi connections. During transmission, multimedia content is automatically adjusted to match the receiving TV’s screen resolution, resulting in flawless visuals.

What’s more, LG’s Wireless Ultra HD Transmission system consumes less than half the power of other similar transmission technologies. It achieves this by reducing the burden on the smartphone’s CPU and other hardware resources.

Visitors to MWC can see this technology for themselves at the LG Booth in Hall 3 of Fira Gran Via from February 25-28.

(LG) today announced consolidated revenues of KRW 50.96 trillion (USD 45.22 billion) and a net profit of KRW 91 billion (USD 80.75 million) for full-year 2012. Despite a 6 percent revenue decrease from 2011, operating profits increased significantly in 2012 to KRW 1.14 trillion USD 1.01 billion) from KRW 379 billion (USD 342.06 million) in full-year 2011.

Fourth quarter 2012 consolidated revenues were KRW 13.50 trillion (USD 12.37 billion) with an operating profit of KRW 107 billion (USD 98.08 million). Unaudited consolidated financial results for the fourth quarter ending Dec. 31, 2012 showed a net loss of KRW 468 billion (USD 428.96 million) which reflects a fine related to alleged cathode-ray tube pricing issues imposed by the European Commission in December.

The LG Home Entertainment Company reported record sales of flat-panel TVs with 9.3 million units in the fourth quarter resulting in a 17.4 percent revenue increase quarter-on-quarter to KRW 6.44 trillion (USD 5.91 billion) and full-year operating profit of KRW 542 billion (USD 480.92 million). Revenues from 3D and Smart TVs increased with higher unit sales in the United States, Europe and CIS countries. Although the Home Entertainment Company had the strongest quarter of the year in terms of revenue, profitability declined somewhat due to lower average selling prices and increased competition. LG will continue to aggressively market 3D and Smart TVs and plans to expand its share of the premium TV segment in 2013 with Ultra HD TVs and OLED TVs.

The LG Mobile Communications Company reported a 7 percent unit increase quarter-on-quarter in mobile handset shipments to 15.4 million with more than half of the units coming from smartphones. Smartphone shipments grew 23 percent compared to the previous quarter, increasing to 8.6 million devices from the 7 million in the third quarter. Fourth quarter revenues were the highest of the year, growing 15 percent to KRW 2.81 trillion (USD 2.58 billion) quarter-on-quarter. Sales of premium LTE smartphones such as Optimus G and Vu:2 increased in the fourth quarter, as did the L-series and Google Nexus 4. With more European and emerging markets introducing LTE services this year, LG plans to increase smartphone revenues and market share by launching follow-up devices to Optimus G and the L-series as well as the new F-series.

The LG Home Appliance Company posted almost flat revenues year-on-year, with sales of KRW 2.94 trillion (USD 2.7 billion) in the fourth quarter as strong sales in the U.S. and CIS countries were largely offset by sluggish demand in Europe, the Middle East and Latin America. Profitability was affected by unfavorable foreign exchange rates and increased marketing investments, even though average selling prices for home appliance products rose in the fourth quarter. The company plans to improve its revenue and profitability in 2013 with more competitive products, advanced technologies and a stronger focus on profitable regions.

The LG Air Conditioning & Energy Solutions Company reported sales of KRW 683 billion (USD 626 million) in the fourth quarter, essentially unchanged year-on-year. An operating loss of KRW 11 billion (USD 10.08 million) in the quarter showed improvement from the same period last year due to operational efficiencies. For full-year 2012, the company recorded revenues of KRW 4.35 trillion (USD 3.86 billion) and operating profit of KRW 156 billion (USD 138.42 million). The priority in 2013 will be to introduce more energy-efficient and localized products to bolster revenue growth.

2013 Business Direction

For 2012, LG Electronics is targeting a revenue goal of KRW 53.5 trillion with plans to spend KRW 2.5 trillion in capital expenditures.

A 45 degrees clockwise view of the world's largest Ultra HD signage (model 84WT70) at ISE 2013

SEOUL, Jan. 28, 2013 -– LG Electronics (LG) will unveil an extensive range of digital signage products at the Integrated Systems Europe (ISE) 2013, the world’s largest professional audio visual and integrated systems tradeshow. Taking place from January 29 to 31 in Amsterdam, ISE is the perfect forum for LG to showcase its next generation display products, many of which feature advanced, energy efficient IPS panels. Under the theme of Powerful and Professional, LG’s outstanding business-to-business products, including the world’s first 84-inch Ultra HD Multi-touch Signage, Smart Mirror and new transparent display, are guaranteed to impress the audience.

“Our strong 2013 lineup utilizes the latest IPS display technology to provide superior picture quality for a wide range of commercial applications,” said Havis Kwon, President and CEO of the LG Home Entertainment Company. “Clearly viewable from practically any angle, LG’s digital signage solutions are capable of holding the consumer’s attention in any setting, indoor or outdoor.”

IMPRESSIVE 3D DISPLAYS

Visitors to LG’s stand at ISE 2013 will be welcomed by the visually impressive 3D Video Wall, which consists of forty-nine 55-inch displays (model 55WV70MD). These innovative products feature one of the world’s slimmest bezel-to-bezel measurements at just 5.3mm, giving the viewer the impression that they are viewing a single enormous display. LG will also demonstrate how its unique 3D displays can be creatively implemented at theme parks or motor shows for the most realistic, fully immersive viewing experience. Ideal for large audiences, the company’s proprietary Film Patterned Retarder (FPR) 3D system employs economical, lightweight and battery-free glasses.

BRIGHT AND RUGGED OUTDOOR DISPLAYS

Unlike conventional TVs, outdoor digital signage must be viewable in all types of lighting, in all types of weather conditions. At a bright 2,000 nits, LG’s model WX50MF IPS signage is the perfect solution for eye-catching outdoor advertisements. Whereas competing 1,500 nit displays black out at just 85°C, the WX50MF outdoor display stays bright up to a searing 110°C. Other hallmarks of this exceptional technology include a noticeably wider viewing angle, zero distortion with perfect color consistency and contrast. Additionally, LG’s IPS based digital signage products reduce the total cost of ownership with up to 30 percent improvement in energy efficiency compared to competing products. Local dimming and Smart Energy Saving functions optimally adjust the LED backlight to match the brightness of the content, offering a more comfortable viewing experience while using less energy.

WORLD’S LARGEST ULTRA HD SIGNAGE

LG’s flagship product at this year’s ISE, the 84-inch model 84WS70, is the world’s largest Ultra HD signage with four times the screen resolution (3840 x 2160 pixels) of traditional HD displays. Three of these cutting-edge products will be arranged side-by-side, displaying vibrant footage from the spring/summer collections of top fashion designers in near life-size form. A multi-touch version of the 84-inch Ultra HD signage (model 84WT70) will demonstrate its interactive capabilities using Google Maps. Visitors to LG’s booth will be able to take a virtual tour of their favorite destinations via Street View in ultra high definition mode, an experience that has to been seen to be believed. The 84WT70 is also ideal for displaying interactive information in educational settings, museums, art galleries, shopping malls and department stores.

FUTURISTIC TRANSPARENT DISPLAY

LG’smodel 47TS50MF transparent display is perfect for installation invending machines where it can show product images and promotional videos, maximizing precious line-of-sight real estate. When a product is selected, the 47TD50MF plays a fun animation of the virtual version of the product being delivered to the customer.

VERSATILE ULTRAWIDE SIGNAGE

LG will also introduce a number of real-life scenarios in which the 21:9 aspect ratio of its ultrawide signage (model 29WR30) can be used to stunning effect. This new product functions ideally as a media pole to display news and advertising but is also perfectly at home as a virtual banner, providing up-to-the-minute information at bus stops, movie theaters or restaurants.
