SEOUL, Feb. 1, 2012 -– LG Electronics Inc. (LG) today announced fourth quarter 2011 consolidated revenues of KRW 13.81 trillion (USD 12.05 billion) with an operating profit of KRW 23 billion (USD 20 million). Quarter-on-quarter revenue growth reflected strong performance in home entertainment and home appliances with improved operating profit in the mobile and TV businesses.

Unaudited consolidated financial results, based on IFRS (International Financial Reporting Standards) for the period ending Dec. 31, 2011, showed a net loss of KRW 112 billion (USD 97.73 million) in the quarter, primarily due to a loss on investments in affiliated companies and net financial expense.

Full-year 2011 consolidated revenues reached KRW 54.26 trillion (USD 48.97 billion). Despite a 2011 net loss of KRW 433 billion (USD 391 million), operating profits improved significantly to KRW 280 billion (USD 253 million) from KRW 176 billion (USD 153 million) for full-year 2010.

The LG Home Entertainment Company shipped a record high 8.8 million flat panel TVs from October to December, increasing revenues 17.6 percent from the previous quarter to KRW 6.31 trillion (USD 5.5 billion). While quarterly sales declined modestly from the 2010 period, a strong 2011 holiday season and more premium product mix led by CINEMA 3D TV resulted in an operating profit of KRW 150 billion (USD 130.9 million) in the fourth quarter of 2011. Full-year 2011 home entertainment sales were KRW 22.38 trillion (USD 20.2 billion) with operating profit of KRW 423 billion (USD 382 million). For 2012, LG will continue strengthening its position in 3D and Smart TVs with a broadened line of TVs with Cinema Screen design and quality content.

The LG Mobile Communications Company improved its position in the fourth quarter with operating profits of KRW 12 billion (USD 10 million) and sales of KRW 2.78 trillion (USD 2.42 billion) on the strength of premium smartphones such as Optimus LTE (Long Term Evolution). For full-year 2011, the company posted sales of KRW
11.69 trillion (USD 10.55 billion), a decline of 9.9 percent from 2010. For 2012, the company will continue to strengthen its position by focusing on strategic markets with expanded smartphone lineup led by LTE smartphones.

The LG Home Appliance Company posted record-high quarterly sales of KRW 2.99 trillion (USD 2.6 billion) in the fourth quarter of 2011 with strong growth in Korea, the U.S. and developing countries with more energy-efficient products. Modestly lower operating profit of KRW 65 billion (USD 57 million) in the fourth quarter reflected increased raw material costs and unfavorable foreign exchange rates. Total 2011 home appliance sales were KRW 11.11 trillion (USD 10.03 billion) with operating profit of KRW 295 billion (USD 266 million). New energy efficient appliances being introduced around the world this year are expected to contribute to 2012 revenue growth.

The LG Air Conditioning & Energy Solutions Company reported sales of KRW 680 billion (USD 593 million) in the fourth quarter, essentially flat with the 2010 fourth quarter. An operating loss of KRW 38 billion (USD 33 million) was attributed to negative macroeconomic issues and product mix weakness in developing markets. For full-year 2011, the company recorded air conditioning and energy solutions revenues of KRW 4.56 trillion (USD 4.11 billion) and operating profit of KRW 58 billion (USD 52 million). The company is increasing its focus on high-efficiency air conditioning systems to help drive sales in 2012.

2012 Business Direction
For 2012, LG Electronics is targeting a revenue goal of KRW 57.6 trillion (USD 53.8 billion) with plans to spend KRW 1.6 trillion (USD 1.5 billion) in capital expenditures and to invest KRW 2.6 trillion (USD 2.4 billion) in research and development.

LG’S GLASSES-FREE CINEMA 3D MONITOR CERTIFIED BY UNDERWRITERS LABORATORIES

LG’s D2500 Becomes World’s First Glasses-Free 3D Product to be Certified by
Underwriters Laboratories for its Product Safety

LG and UL representatives are presenting the UL certification letter for LG’s Glasses-free CINEMA 3D monitor.

SEOUL, Jan. 15, 2012 -– LG Electronics’ (LG) glasses-free CINEMA 3D monitor, the D2500, became the world’s first glasses-free 3D monitor to be certified by UL, (Underwriters Laboratories) for product safety, strengthening LG’s leadership in the glasses-free 3D product segment. The certification was officially presented to LG at last week’s Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas.
“Our glasses-free CINEMA 3D monitors will continue to lead LG in the glasses-free 3D market,” said Havis Kwon, President and CEO of LG Home Entertainment Company. “We will strengthen our glasses-free 3D product lineup to further distance ourselves from the competition.”
D2500 also received the Certificate of Validation on five different types of tests conducted by UL, including those for 2D Color Characteristic, 3D Color Characteristic, 3D Contrast, 3D Crosstalk and 3D Vertical Viewing Angle. UL is internationally renowned for its product quality and safety certifications of electronics products.
The D2500 uses the Parallax Barrier technology, which creates an illusion of depth based on a series of light-blocking barriers attached to the front of the LCD panel, which ensure the left and right eyes see different images. In order to ensure optimal 3D image quality, the D2500 also uses a head-tracking technology that tracks the user’s head and eye positions in real time through the imbedded web cam, thereby adjusting 3D images in accordance with the user’s viewing angle and distance from the CINEMA 3D monitor.
In addition to the UL certification, the D2500 has also been certified by TUV Rheinland as a glasses-free 3D product. TUV lauded the D2500 as exhibiting excellent contrast ratio and color production.

LG TO LEAD GLOBAL TV MARKET WITH 2012 CINEMA 3D SMART TV LINEUP

LG Looks to Strengthen Position in Global 3D TV Market by Launching Wider Variety
of 3D TVs, including OLED TVs and UD TVs, with Enhanced Smart TV Ecosystem

LAS VEGAS, Jan. 11, 2012 -– LG Electronics (LG) held a press conference in Las Vegas, where Havis Kwon, President and CEO at LG Home Entertainment Company, announced the company’s medium- and long-term strategies for its TV business.
“Along with the rapid increase in Smart TV-equipped 3D TVs, competition is also expected to be intense over next generation displays, including OLED TVs and UD TVs,” said Mr. Kwon. “LG is planning to strengthen the ‘3D=LG’ image by ranking No. 1 in the global 3D TV market. LG will also lead the Smart TV industry by continuously enhancing its own Smart TV platform, NetCast. Meanwhile, in order to establish a strong foundation to position LG as the global No. 1 TV manufacturer, LG will continue to upgrade multiple types of TVs, including LCD TVs, as well as next generation display products, such as OLED TVs and UD TVs.”
Global No. 1 in 3D TVs
In order to rank No. 1 in the global 3D TV market, LG will expand its large-screen CINEMA 3D Smart TV lineup, release more lightweight 3D glasses and enhance the availability of 3D content.
In total, approximately 70 percent of new LG TVs will be 3D-capable. The quantity of 3D TV models, whether entry-level or premium will be expanded, and the Smart TV function will be included in each TV set as a basic feature.
Furthermore, LG will pursue synergistic efforts with LG affiliates, namely LG Display, LG Chemical and LG Innotek, to continue vigorous technological developments in 3D.
Stronger Leadership in Smart TV
In order to strengthen its Smart TV business, LG will place central emphasis on increasing the competitiveness of its proprietary platform, expanding content and services and innovating the user experience.
Scheduled to be released this year, the new version of NetCast will allow easy use of LG’s Smart TV ecosystem which continues to grow in both scale and sophistication. In order to improve its ease of use, the Integrated Search function has been added to enable a quick and easy one-step search process for known content and apps. Meanwhile, the new Magic Remote maximizes user convenience with the four control modes of Voice Recognition, Wheel, Magic Gesture and Pointing.
LG will continue to form strategic partnerships with 3D content providers, in order to establish the CINEMA 3D Smart TVs as the Smart TVs with the largest 3D content selection.
Enhanced Competitiveness of LCD TVs
LG’s LCD TV product lineup will be noticeably fortified. Through wider application of LG’s CINEMA SCREEN Design, a greater share of LG’s LCD TVs will be equipped with ultra-slim bezels to allow for optimized 3D viewing experiences that are more immersive and comparable to a movie-going experience. Such immersive displays will grow in size, as a greater number of LCD TVs will measure at 60 inches or greater. Meanwhile, LG will also become the industry’s first to launch an 84-inch UD TV whose resolution is four times greater than existing Full HD TVs.
Leadership in OLED TVs
In 2012, LG plans to capture and solidify an early lead in the next generation display market by becoming the industry’s first to launch an OLED TV. Following the 55-inch OLED TV’s inaugural launch in Korea, the next generation TV will be launched in other markets across the world.
Already dubbed “the future of TV,” LG’s OLED TV exhibits unparalleled picture quality and design. Meanwhile, LG’s OLED panel requires low manufacturing costs, as it is a WRGB-type display panel which is most suitable for large-screen TVs. Additionally, LG’s display panels can be manufactured with high productivity, due to their low defect rates.
LG decided to feature a 55-inch display panel for its first OLED TV, due to increasing demand for large-screen TVs and LG’s goal of leading the next generation display market. OLED TVs in the 40-inch range are also scheduled to be launched later on. Their launch dates will be determined in accordance with market developments.
Innovative Supply Chain Management
One of LG’s core objectives is to bring about greater innovation in its supply chain management. LG will accelerate its integrated management of demand forecasts, supply plans, purchasing and manufacturing. LG will also work towards reducing the lead time when working with business partners.
Furthermore, the existing completion type overseas manufacturing facilities will be strengthened, reducing tariffs, increasing logistical efficiency and internalizing core processes. In so doing, LG expects to enhance the competitiveness of its global manufacturing capability.

LG AIMING FOR HOME APPLIANCE LEADERSHIP WITH DOUBLE DIGIT SALES GROWTH IN 2012

LG to Focus More Aggressively on Premium and
Smart Appliances and Greater Localization in Markets

LAS VEGAS, Jan. 12, 2012 –- LG Electronics (LG) revealed its home appliance business strategies for 2012 in a discussion with members of the media at the tail end of this year’s Consumer Electronics Show (CES). Moon-bum Shin, Executive Vice President and CEO of LG Home Appliance Company, announced that LG’s primary goal this year is to strengthen its business foundations so that it can achieve the top position in the home appliance category by 2014. In order to achieve the objective, LG plans to enhance its competitive advantage in the refrigerator and washing machine segments and make strong investments in smart appliances. Despite the global economic downturn, LG aims to achieve double digit sales growth rate this year.
“To accelerate our performance and growth amidst the global economic challenges, we will pursue value-oriented qualitative growth with a greater focus on products and businesses with higher profitability potential,” said Mr. Shin. “The competition is more intense but with a proactive investment strategy and progressive development of technologies with solid growth potential, we believe we can elevate the standards of the appliance market.”
On top of that, LG is pushing the boundaries of smart appliances with new and improved Smart ThinQ™ technology, offering enhanced convenience and smarter savings. The upgraded Smart Manager introduced at this year’s CES help consumers maintain their daily nutritional balance and greatly enhance convenience in the kitchen. LG’s unique Health Manager feature offers specific, nutritious meal plans and recipes of up to a week based on a family’s profile and medical conditions. Smart Shopping offers online grocery shopping directly from the refrigerator’s LCD panel, or by smartphone.
LG’s Smart Appliances, combined with the upgraded Smart ThinQ™ technology, will continue to position the company as the leader in consumer-oriented, convenient appliances. Followed by the successful introduction of four smart appliances in 2011, LG plans to gradually extend its lineup of smart appliances in the near future.
In addition, LG will continue to provide upgraded premium lines of the company’s representative energy-efficient yet large-capacity refrigerators equipped with LG’s Linear Compressor and washing machines equipped with the Inverter Direct Drive™ motor, raising the bar for the value-added products market. In 2012, LG aims to be the top selling washing machine brand in the globe for the fifth consecutive year, as it has done since 2008. Refrigerator production is expected to ten million units for the third consecutive year. Their overall productivity is expected to increase with continuous innovation.
And finally, having taken over the reins of LG’s Home Appliance business unit just one month ago, Mr. Shin feels strongly that LG’s success in history has been its ability to meet the diverse needs of consumers in different regional markets. In developed markets, LG will adhere to the energy standards of the North American, European and other developed markets by introducing washing machines equipped with the Inverter Direct Drive™ motor that consume less energy compared to conventional LG models. In emerging markets such as Central America, South America, Southeast Asia and CIS, LG will offer more specialized products that appeal to the specific demands of local consumers, such as refrigerators that operate in homes with uneven electricity supplies.

CES also presents a meaningful opportunity for us, as our CINEMA 3D Smart TVs strive to achieve the global No. 1 market share.”
Large-Screen CINEMA 3D Smart TVs
In light of increasing quantity and quality of 3D content, consumer demand has been growing for larger screens which can generate more realistic and immersive 3D viewing experiences. As a result, LG will unveil a wider range of large-screen CINEMA 3D Smart TVs, spanning between 55 and 84 inches.
CINEMA 3D Experience Zone
At the CINEMA 3D Experience zone, visitors will receive LG’s latest CINEMA 3D glasses, which employ new designs, including curved lenses. Immersive 3D Sound
Also at CES this year, LG has prepared a room, where visitors can experience LG’s 3D sound technology through LG’s new home theater system. Viewers can feel 3D movements through the sound, as the sound output is synchronized with the movement of various on-screen objects, allowing for a more immersive viewing experience.
Smart TV: Upgrade of NetCast, LG’s Proprietary Smart TV Platform
Over the past year, LG has elevated the user experience of its Smart TV function by adding over 1,200 apps and a range of premium content services. Such growth in sophistication has been accompanied by increased user convenience. NetCast, LG’s own Smart TV platform, has been upgraded and an integrated search function has been added to allow easier and quicker access to content. In turn, popular search words can be used to search through LG’s expansive Smart TV ecosystem. In addition to basic communication functions, social networking services (SNS) on LG’s Smart TV now permit users to “share” and “like” what they’re watching. NetCast will be the platform in approximately 60 percent of LG’s flat-panel TVs introduced this year.
Another noticeable advancement in user convenience is the new Magic Remote. In addition to the familiar Point control mode, the new Magic Remote allows three additional modes: Voice Recognition, Magic Gesture and Wheel. Combined, the four control modes facilitate easier, more natural navigation and browsing. For instance, when performing searches, users no longer have to punch in each individual letter through on-screen menus, as Voice Recognition allows users to simply speak into the Magic Remote.
LG intends to deliver the most enjoyable Smart TV experience through its CINEMA 3D Smart TVs. In order to enhance LG’s competitiveness in the quantity and quality of 3D content, LG will continue to add a range of high-quality 3D content, such as Hollywood movies and games, as well as user-generated content (UGC).
LG Smart TV with Google TV
At CES 2012, LG will unveil the highly anticipated Google TV. LG Smart TV with Google TV combines the familiarity of Google’s Android OS with the convenience and comfort of LG’s 3D and Smart TV technologies, offering consumers a new and attractive home entertainment option.
LG Smart TV with Google TV is easy to use, due to the combination of an Androidbased user interface and Magic Remote Qwerty designed by LG, which combines the user-friendly benefits of LG’s Magic Remote with a QWERTY keyboard.
CINEMA SCREEN Design
The CINEMA SCREEN Design is featured in middle- and high-end 3D TVs from LG that will be launched during the first quarter of 2012. The CINEMA SCREEN Design reduces the bezel of 3D TVs to just one millimeter, creating a more optimal and comfortable environment for immersive 3D viewing, reminiscent of a movie theater. The CINEMA SCREEN Design is also optimal for enjoying 3D content from LG’s Smart TV ecosystem.
LG plans to continue its aggressive 3D marketing campaign by emphasizing the innovative CINEMA SCREEN Design, which elevates immersion and 3D effect based on LG’s comfortable CINEMA 3D technology that requires light-weight glasses.
The Next Generation Display: 55-inch 3D OLED TV
What sets LG’s TV picture apart from other OLED TVs is its 4-Color Pixels and Color Refiner which work together to generate natural and accurate colors that are sharp and consistent. The 4-Color Pixels feature allows for more accurate color depiction by using a set of four colors (red, green blue and white) in comparison to the RGB setup used by other OLED TV manufacturers. Color Refiner ensures consistency in colors from a wider viewing angle via an LG algorithm which improves and refines hues and tones. This is in contrast to other OLED TVs which often exhibit drastic changes in hues from different viewing angles and abnormal color gamut.
Boasting an infinite contrast ratio, LG’s OLED TV exhibits vivid colors and the smallest details regardless of the overall luminance of the on-screen image. In turn, colors and details throughout an entire image are preserved with utmost clarity and sharpness, even when displaying scenes with dark lighting. Such color capabilities are technically impossible with LED and LCD display panels. And at 1,000 times faster than LED/LCD displays, LG’s OLED TV shows crystal clear motion without any blurring or bleeding.
LG’s 3D OLED TV is equipped with LG’s Film Patterned Retarder (FPR) CINEMA 3D technology, providing users with a noticeably more comfortable 3D experience compared to the active shutter 3D display of other 3D OLED TVs. FPR-type 3D TVs cause less eye strain, while FPR-type 3D glasses are far lighter than active shutter 3D glasses.
The energy efficient 3D OLED TV weighs a mere 7.5kg, making it easy to install and move around. Because its defect rate is minimal, the 3D OLED TV’s productivity is high. Meanwhile, the 3D OLED TV uses a WRGB-type LG display panel, which is optimal for the production of large-screen TVs and ensures low manufacturing costs.
The Next Generation Display: 84-inch 3D UD TV
LG’s 3D UD TV boasts superb picture quality on an expansive 84-inch display panel. With 8 million pixels and four times the resolution clarity (3840×2160) of existing Full HD TV panels, the 3D UD TV provides the most convincing 3D viewing experience currently available outside of a movie theater.
3D IPS Monitors
LG will unveil several series of 3D IPS monitors. Overall, LG will be bringing to market a total of 23 3D IPS monitors in 2012. With LG’s 3D IPS monitors, users can view 3D content from a far wider angle of 178 degrees without any changes in color or sacrifice in color consistency.
The 27-inch DM92 series leads LG’s 3D IPS monitor lineup. With the application of LG’s CINEMA SCREEN Design, the DM92 series is equipped with a bezel that is just one millimeter wide, further enhancing immersive 3D viewing. Additionally, through LG’s own eco-friendly technologies, the 3D IPS monitors consume roughly 25 percent less energy compared to existing IPS monitors.
CES Innovations Awards
LG received a total of 12 CES 2012 Innovations Awards, including one Best of Innovations Award. The number of awards was equivalent to those received for the 2011 awards. In TVs, two CINEMA 3D Smart TV models and 3D Smart PDP TV won awards. Meanwhile, in the audio visual category, the Smart TV Upgrader and the iPod Docking Speaker received awards.
The 55-inch Full LED CINEMA 3D Smart TV exhibits bright and clear Full LED picture quality, using LG’s proprietary nanotechnology. 3D immersion has been further enhanced through minimized bezels. A wide variety of apps and content can be accessed conveniently.
The CES Innovations Awards is awarded by the Consumer Electronics Association (CEA) and the Industrial Design Society of America (IDSA), which assess products based on their technology and design.

SEOUL, Jan 8, 2012 –- LG Electronics (LG) will introduce the CINEMA SCREEN Design at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas. Featured in some of the new CINEMA 3D Smart TVs for 2012, the CINEMA SCREEN Design has reduced the bezel to 1mm, creating a more optimal and comfortable environment for immersive 3D viewing.

“As was the case in 2011, LG will be the industry’s leader in 3D throughout 2012,” said Havis Kwon, President and CEO of LG Home Entertainment Company. “As evidenced in a range of product reviews throughout 2011, LG’s CINEMA 3D products have received rave reviews for their 3D display qualities. With our 2012 CINEMA 3D Smart TVs, we have been able to take a significant step forward, thanks to a series of new and upgraded 3D features led by the CINEMA SCREEN Design.”

The CINEMA SCREEN Design translates the latest advances in LG’s display technology into an aesthetically superior form. Bezels that surround the new CINEMA 3D Smart TVs have been slimmed down to negligible levels, removing physical obstructions to allow greater immersion of 3D effects, reminiscent of movie screens at cinemas.

The CINEMA SCREEN Design is accompanied by new CINEMA 3D glasses for 2012. Presented in three elegant models, the new CINEMA 3D glasses are 20 percent lighter than the previous ones, increasing their comfort to allow longer 3D viewing.

Such optimal setting for immersive 3D viewing is complemented by a range of new 3D technologies. Using the theory of 3D TV technology, Dual Play is the solution for an ultimate experience in war games. With LG’s Dual Play function and the special Dual Play glasses, you can have differently divided two screens which is useful for 3D Games. Meanwhile, 3D Sound Zooming generates audio output that is synchronized with the location and movement of the various on-screen objects, adding immersive sound to immersive visuals.

As always, the new CINEMA 3D Smart TVs come equipped with LG’s Smart TV function. Featuring over 1,200 apps, LG’s Smart TV offers a variety of premium content services, including 3D World, where viewers can access a growing abundance of 3D content. Furthermore, the imbedded 2D to 3D conversion engine makes 3D content practically limitless.

All aforementioned features of the new CINEMA 3D Smart TVs will be available for viewing at CES 2012 in Las Vegas from January 10-12, 2012.

LG Smart TV with Google TV combines the familiarity of Google’s Android OS with the convenience and comfort of LG’s 3D and Smart TV technologies, offering consumers a new and attractive home entertainment option.

“LG has constantly strived to provide consumers with wider choices in home entertainment that bring the highest level of sophistication and convenience,” said Havis Kwon, President and CEO of LG Electronics Home Entertainment Company. “Through Google TV, LG has merged Google’s established Android operating system with LG’s proven 3D and Smart TV technologies, offering consumers a new and enthralling TV experience.”

LG’s Google TV’s most attractive feature is its ease of use, thanks to the combination of its Android-based user interface and the Magic Remote Qwerty designed by LG. LG’s Google TV’s user interface and main screen have been designed for convenient browsing and content selection. Multi-tasking is also possible, as the search, social networking and TV functions can be run simultaneously. The user interface can be accessed using the Magic Remote Qwerty which combine the user-friendly benefits of LG’s Magic Remote with a QWERTY keyboard.

Equipped with LG’s own CINEMA 3D technology, Google TV provides a home entertainment experience that is immersive, comfortable and convenient. SEOUL, Jan. 5, 2012 -– Showcasing its next generation of revolutionary smart appliances for 2012, LG Electronics (LG) is highlighting its upgraded Smart ThinQ™ technology and its new Home Energy Management System (HeMS) at the 2012 International CES® in Las Vegas.

Together, Smart ThinQ™ and HeMS provide consumers with a more comfortable and convenient way to manage chores, as well as potentially big savings in energy use and electricity bills. At CES, visitors to the LG booth will also experience enhanced device-to-device connectivity across home appliances, Smart TVs, smartphones and PCs.

Also featured at CES are advanced new LG appliances designed to further complement the modern consumer lifestyle. These include a large-capacity, Blast Chillerequipped French-door refrigerator, which earned the CES 2012 “Best of Innovations” award, and a large and fast clothes washer, also honored with a 2012 CES Innovations Award.

“We first previewed our smart appliances at CES a year ago, and the lineup has evolved considerably since then,” said Moon-bum Shin, Executive Vice President and CEO of LG Electronics Home Appliance Company. “LG has not only upgraded individual technologies for each product, but has also greatly enhanced connectivity throughout the home. By creating new possibilities for chore management, such as allowing consumers to monitor washing machines through their TVs or smartphones, LG is enabling homeowners to rethink the concept of household chores.”

LG’s upgraded Smart ThinQ™ technology offers customized convenience and flexible ways to control energy use. At the center of the smart technologies is Smart Manager, which offers a complete food management system. With Smart Manager, consumers can use the refrigerator’s LCD panel or their smartphones to check what food is inside, where it’s located and when it will expire. For improved service, Smart Diagnosis™ enables the quick and convenient diagnosis or troubleshooting via smart devices.

Smart Access lets consumers access and monitor the operational status of appliances through smart devices, while with Smart Adapt, users can download new programs or software, providing all the benefits of LG’s latest developments without needing to buy a new product. Equally significant, LG smart appliances are Smart Grid-ready, meaning that once local utility companies begin offering Smart Grid-compatible, differentiated energy-rate time slots, consumers can re-adjust their function settings to take advantage of optimum energy rates every day.

This year, LG has taken advantage of its advances in smart technology to create a total home network with HeMS, another unique innovation being premiered at CES 2012. HeMS gives users access to the energy usage data of the smart appliances in the home via smartphone or PC1. Customers can monitor their energy usage and the according energy costs by the hour, day, month or year. When needed, they can adjust the usage to reduce energy consumption and save money on electricity bills.

At CES, LG is demonstrating its latest smart refrigerator, smart washing machine, smart oven and smart robotic vacuum cleaner. In particular, the smart refrigerator and smart washing machine are being featured as the embodiments of LG’s most advanced smart technologies. And LG’s proprietary Core Technologies -– Linear Compressor, Inverter Direct Drive™, Infrared Grill and KOMPRESSOR® –- help enhance performance, increase durability and enhance efficient energy usage in LG appliances.

Visitors will be able to see firsthand LG’s large-capacity French-door refrigerator equipped with the innovative Blast Chiller, which was awarded the coveted CES 2012 “Best of Innovations” Award. The Blast Chiller, an innovative quickchilling compartment for drinks, can cool a 12-ounce can of beer or soda in less than five minutes, perfect for those unexpected visits from friends or relatives.

LG has also brought the large-capacity, fast front-load washing machine, as well as its oven equipped with the unique Infrared Grill technology. LG’s dishwasher is also on display, boasting a powerful washing performance and more efficient water usage with TrueSteam™ technology.

Particularly adept at handling clothes that require special care such as suits and blouses, the LG Styler offers total clothing care management solution when combined with other LG products, such as LG’s washing machines. The Styler uses steam cycles to reduce everyday wrinkles and unpleasant odors. It also keeps clothes neat and fresh, using a selection of aromas that can be subtly infused into the stored clothing items. Simply, the Styler lets consumers maintain their wardrobe with a professional touch.

The HOM-BOT is LG’s advanced robotic vacuum cleaner, enabling easy and convenient automatic vacuuming at home. The Dual Eye Mapping feature uses smart navigation to allow for more fast and precise cleaning, while the low height of just 3.5 inches and a noise level of 50dB allow consumers to enjoy other activities while the robotic cleaner tends to the floor.
LG’s outstanding appliances are offered in an elegant sequence of the built-in LG Studio Series™, which include a large capacity 3-door refrigerator with the door-indoor feature and a built-in side-by-side refrigerator with a sophisticated design.

Seoul, Jan. 05, 2012 -– LG Electronics (LG) will showcase four new notebook models and an all-in-one PC at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2012 in Las Vegas. LG’s brand new Super Ultrabook™ Series, the Z330 and the Z430, offer powerful performance and sleek design unseen in ordinary Ultrabooks, while the P535 and the A540 establish a new standard for 3D notebooks. Lastly, the V300 is the ideal 23-inch all-in-one PC for entertainment, thanks to its immersive 3D display and In-Plane Switching (IPS) -enabled wide viewing angle.

“At this year’s CES, LG will showcase products that are not only new, but also establish categories defining new standards for personal computing devices,” said J.J. Lee, Executive Vice President and Head of LG Electronics IT Business Unit. “Our new products feature a range of breakthrough technologies from LG, such as IPS display, glasses-free 3D and Super Speed Boot, that will noticeably elevate the personal computing experience. These technologies reflect our goal of satisfying various consumer demands, as well as our aggressive strategy for 2012.”
■ Z330: Super Ultrabook™ that Outshines Ordinary Ultrabooks
The Z330 is the most compact product in LG’s newest Super Ultrabook™ Series, boasting vastly superior features above and beyond Intel’s Ultrabook™ requirements, while remaining attractive in both performance and portability.
In terms of performance, LG’s proprietary Super Speed Boot technology enables rapid booting, roughly three times faster than other 13-inch notebooks in the market. Powered by the second generation Intel® CoreTM i7 processor, the Z330 requires less than 10 seconds to complete booting, while it requires a mere two seconds to recover from stand-by mode.
Equally important, the Z330 is equipped with the latest SATA3 Solid State Drive (SSD) , which is more than 11 times faster than an ordinary hard drive.

The Z330 is also unrivalled in terms of compactness and portability, thanks to its Super Compact Clutch design which reduces the width of the bezel to minimal levels. In turn, the Z330 exhibits a 13.3-inch HD display on a chassis whose size is equivalent to 12-inch notebooks. The Z330 boasts uniform slimness of 14.7mm throughout, not just at its thinnest edge. The Z330 is also extremely light, weighing a mere 1.21 kg, making it lighter than most competing Ultrabooks in this class. Such attractive dimensions and weight are surrounded by a metallic cover with a gyro-brush line finish, completing the Z330’s urban, chic look.
■ Z430: Ultimate Compactness and Performance in a 14-inch Super Ultrabook™
The Z430 is a 14-inch notebook of the Super Ultrabook™ Series, which boasts powerful performance in a sleek, compact chassis. Powered by the Intel® Core i7 processor and equipped with SSD and HDD, the Z430 offers Super Speed Boot with 12 seconds booting time and arge storage capacity of up to 500GB. Such powerful features are packed into a superbly thin 19.9 mm thin chassis. The Z430 is the most compact 14-inch notebook available in the market, as its slim bezel enables the notebook to employ a 14-inch display panel in a chassis ordinarily used for 13-inch notebooks. The 1.50 kg Super Ultrabook’s design is completed by its modern, chic exterior that combines a metallic cover with a gyro-brush line finish.
■ P535: Superior 3D Capabilities in a Lightweight, Slim Notebook
A CINEMA 3D notebook designed to please style-conscious consumers looking for a comprehensive entertainment experience, the P535 builds on the sophisticated slim design philosophy of LG’s P-Series notebooks. The 15.6-inch super-slim LED backlight display contributes to the thinness of the P535’s 24.1mm chassis and its weight of 2.2 kg, making the P535 up to 24 percent slimmer and 27 percent lighter than the closest competing 15-inch 3D notebooks. Such a slim body allows the P535’s 15.6-inch display to be placed in a chassis normally reserved for 14-inch notebooks.

The P535 is as powerful as it is stylish. Powered by the second generation Intel® Core™ i7 processor and NVIDIA’s latest GeForce GT 630M graphics card, the P535 boasts unbeatable performance, along with a wide display panel that exhibits superior CINEMA 3D capabilities.
■ A540: Glasses-Free 3D Entertainment with Enhanced 4.1 Channel Sounds
Powered by the second generation Intel® Core i7 processor with quad-core processors, the A540 offers consumers a full package of 3D entertainment through its glasses-free 3D display panel, the SRS premium sound effect and the 4.1 channel 3D sound. Thanks to its revolutionary CINEMA 3D display technology, movie fans can enjoy sharp, immersive 3D content on the A540’s 15.6-inch Full HD LED backlight display without eye fatigue. The NVIDIA® GT555M graphics card adds significant horsepower when watching HD movies, playing games or editing videos. The A540 comes with a 3D editing program that allows users to personalize their 3D images and videos.
■ LG V300: LG’s First All-in-One PC with Top-Line Display Technology
Initially unveiled in 2011 with the second generation Intel® CoreTM i7 processor, the V300 is LG’s first-ever all-in-one PC featuring Film Patterned Retarder (FPR) 3D technology and an IPS display. FPR technology enables the V300 to offer the most vivid, immersive full HD 3D viewing experience on a 23-inch Full HD display without any eye fatigue. Meanwhile, the employment of an IPS display significantly widens the viewing angle to 178 degrees and also allows users to enjoy multimedia content with superior picture quality. Unlike competing all-in-one PCs with a dual camera touch sensor, the V300 is equipped with a triple camera system that offers a superior multi-touch experience.

LG will be launching the Super Ultrabook™ Series and the new 3D notebook models worldwide during the first quarter of 2012.

LG‘S NEW HOME THEATER SYSTEMS TO DISRUPT HOME ENTERTAINMENT LIKE NEVER BEFORE

LG Takes Aim at Audio Visual Market by Integrating
3D Sound and Smart TV Technologies into HTS

A model poses with LG 3D SOUND HTS and the LG CINEMA 3D Smart TV.

SEOUL, Jan. 4, 2012 –- LG Electronics is introducing four new home theater systems at this year’s Consumer Electronics Show (CES) equipped with LG’s latest 3D sound technology. By combining its 3D Home Theater Systems with the company’s popular CINEMA 3D Smart TVs, LG aims to solidify its position as the leader in 3D home entertainment.

The synergy between LG’s CINEMA 3D Smart TV and CINEMA 3D SOUND HOME THEATER products will be apparent in retail outlets, where they will be displayed paired together. Of the four new 3D SOUND HOME THEATER models scheduled for launch during the first half of 2012, the BH9420PW will be the first to be unveiled at CES  2012.

“Whether it’s TVs or audio systems, LG continues to offer the most immersive 3D home entertainment experience possible,” said Havis Kwon, President and CEO of LG Home Entertainment Company. “Our CINEMA 3D Smart TVs will now be accompanied by a wider variety of CINEMA 3D SOUND HOME THEATER products that offer consumers a complete 3D experience and further strengthen LG’s leadership in 3D.”

The BH9420PW incorporates LG’s very own 3D Sound Zooming technology, which constantly synchronizes sound output with the location and movement of the on-screen 3D images on a CINEMA 3D Smart TV. In turn, 3D Sound Zooming plunges the viewer into the middle of the action, as the events that unfold on their 3D TVs immerse and surround the viewers as both images and sound in real 3D. 3D Sound Zooming is capable of generating variety of depth in sound based on a complex algorithm that analyzes the varying depth of numerous on-screen objects displayed on the 3D TV.

Such immersive 3D sound quality is enhanced further by the BH9420PW’s 9.1 speaker system, which adds four Upright 3D Speakers to the 5.1 channels of a conventional home theater system. The four Upright 3D Speakers pump sound upward, ensuring that the vertical space is completely filled with sound. Meanwhile, a 360º Reflector inside each of the Upright 3D Speakers reflects sound in all directions, creating acoustics as rich as those in a concert hall.

Moreover, by applying LG’s unique 3D effect DSP algorithm, the Sound Field Expansion technology further expands the horizontal sound field, and works in harmony with the Upright 3D Speakers to create a truly immersive, 360º sound experience. Additionally, the audio “sweet spot” is further extended so viewers always feel as if they are right in the middle of the action, regardless of their location in a living room.

In order to provide viewers with a wide range of 3D experiences, the BH9420PW is equipped with a Smart TV function. In turn, any ordinary 3D TV can have access to LG’s Smart TV ecosystem, which is composed of a growing variety and quantity of 3D content through various premium content services and apps, such as LG’s 3D Zone.

The BH9420PW will hit stores in March 2012.
