LG is introducing the all-new and expanded OLED TV lineup for 2024 with a cutting-edge AI-powered processor; developed by LG, exclusively designed for OLED TVs. Notably the LG SIGNATURE OLED M4 and LG OLED G4 TVs are equipped with the new α (Alpha) 11 AI processor, which effectively enhances picture and audio quality. This provides a 70 percent improvement in graphic performance and a 30 percent faster processing speed compared to its predecessor.

LG’s newest OLED TVs come with upgraded AI upscaling utilizing precise pixel-level image analysis, to effectively sharpen objects and backgrounds that may appear blurry. All driven by the discerning judgment of the AI itself, the company’s OLED TVs deliver a more clear and vibrant viewing experience. Moreover, the ingenious AI processor adeptly refines colors by analyzing frequently used shades that best convey the mood and emotional elements intended by filmmakers and content creators. Dynamic Tone Mapping Pro splits pictures into blocks and fine-tunes brightness and contrast by analyzing variations in brightness where light enters the scene, creating images that look more three-dimensional.

This all culminates with the LG SIGNATURE OLED M4, LG’s wireless OLED TV. Now available in a new 65-inch screen size, allowing for a diverse range of screen options. From the versatile 65-inch model to the 97-inch giant, cleaner and distraction-free viewing is easily attainable. The innovative wireless Zero Connect Box completely eliminates all connected cables. The OLED M4 is the world’s first TV with wireless video and audio transmission at up to 4K 144Hz, delivering superior OLED performance with accurate details and an elevated sense of immersion.

“Bolstered by a class-leading OLED TV and impressive QNED lineup, LG continues to assert its dominance in the premium TV market with the promise of the best possible customer experience through a distinguished selection of content and services available on the company’s webOS smart TV platform,” said Park Hyoung-sei, president of the LG Home Entertainment Company.

Besides offering impressive picture quality, AI Sound Pro offers richer and fuller audio while leveraging the built-in speakers’ virtual 11.1.2 surround sound to build the perfect viewing environment. AI technology also effectively separates vocals from soundtrack to enhance the clarity of dialogue, and seamlessly elevates the audio as if it were emanating naturally from the center of its screen.

LG’s latest OLED evo models gain further credibility for their razor-sharp picture quality with the Video Electronics Standards Association’s (VESA) ClearMR certification.1

LG OLED TV’s reputation as the ultimate gaming TV is secure with the latest models featuring several gaming advantages including an impressive 4K 144Hz refresh rate2 and comprehensive HDMI 2.1 features. These advanced TVs also come with Game Optimizer to let gamers easily switch between display presets designed for different gaming genres, and support NVIDIA G-SYNC® Compatible and AMD FreeSync to eliminate immersion-breaking tearing and stuttering for the most dynamic, true-to-life gaming experience.

LG elevates the home entertainment experience even further with versatile personalization and added convenience. By utilizing the latest version of webOS, users can create up to 10 individual profiles to tailor the experience. LG’s latest smart TVs can even recognize users’ voices based on profiles and offer personalized recommendations by interpreting patterns from comprehensive usage history.

Based on individual profiles, users can customize the Home screen in the latest webOS smart TV platform and set up their personalized settings with minimal effort. This allows them to access their favorite services and content effortlessly and benefit from a personalized Picture Wizard, a service that lets them adjust image quality to their liking. Making the user experience even more seamless, the Home screen’s user-friendly interface provides a preview of their most recently watched content, which means they can easily access information about recently used apps and play videos promptly and effortlessly.

With the webOS Re:New program,3 LG is offering the latest webOS upgrade to existing LG Smart TV owners to give them an up-to-date TV experience for the next five years. This upgrade applies to the company’s 2022 OLED TV models and 2022 QNED Mini LED 8K models, and in the future, will be extended to more LG TV products worldwide as well, enabling the customers who purchase these LG TVs to benefit from distinctive user experiences thanks to the continuous five-year webOS upgrade.

With its advanced ‘two-legged’ wheel design, LG’s smart home AI agent is able to navigate the home independently. The intelligent device can verbally interact with users and express emotions through movements made possible by its articulated leg joints. Moreover, the use of multi-modal AI technology, which combines voice and image recognition along with natural language processing, enables the smart home AI agent to understand context and intentions as well as actively communicate with users.

Functioning as a ‘moving’ smart home hub, this AI agent connects with and controls smart home appliances and household IoT devices. Through LG’s latest collaboration with Qualcomm Technologies, Inc., the AI agent is equipped with the Qualcomm® Robotics RB5 Platform, enabling powerful on-device AI features such as face and user recognition. The AI agent utilizes its built-in camera, speaker and various sensors to gather real-time environmental data, including temperature, humidity and indoor air quality. The AI agent can even act as a pet monitor and security guard, providing users with the ability to see and care for their pets remotely and sending alerts if any unusual activity is detected.

What’s more, the LG smart home AI agent offers exceptional versatility and scalability. For example, it can autonomously patrol the home when no one is there, moving from one room to another and sending notifications to the user’s smartphone if it finds an open window or any lights left on. Additionally, it can help conserve energy by connecting with a smart outlet and turning off unused devices throughout the house.

When the user returns home, the AI agent greets them at the front door, discerns their emotions by analyzing their voice and facial expressions, and selects music or other content to suit their mood. It also assists users in their daily lives by providing transportation details, weather updates, personal schedules or reminders to take medications.

With the smart home AI agent and its active hub features, LG aims to liberate users from the burden of housework and seeks to establish itself as a dominant player in the smart home market.

“Our groundbreaking smart home AI agent combines cutting-edge autonomous mobility and AI technologies with advanced communication capabilities and services to help free customers from household chores,” said Lyu Jae-cheol, president of LG Electronics Home Appliance & Air Solution Company. “A smart life solution company, LG will continue to help customers experience a smarter, more enjoyable life at home.”

LG UltraGear Unveils World’s First 4K OLED Gaming Monitor With Dual-Hz Feature

2024 UltraGear OLED Gaming Monitor Lineup Introduces Pixel Sound Technology,
Delivering Clear, Cinematic Audio That Brings a New Dimension to Gaming

Front image of LG’s newest UltraGear monitor

SEOUL, Dec. 21, 2023 — LG Electronics (LG) is set to unveil its latest lineup of UltraGear™ OLED gaming monitors, designed to provide superior gaming experiences. The expanded lineup includes the highly anticipated 32-inch 4K gaming monitor (model 32GS95UE), which boasts a 240Hz refresh rate, an ultra-fast 0.03ms Gray-to-Gray (GtG) response time, and LG’s Dual-Hz feature and Pixel Sound technology. The company is also introducing stellar 39- and 34-inch models with ultra-wide curved screens: the 39GS95QE and the 34GS95QE.

The First Dual-Hz Gaming Monitor to Offer 4K 240Hz / FHD 480Hz

A CES 2024 Innovation Award honoree, model 32GS95UE is the first UltraGear monitor equipped with the new Dual-Hz feature, allowing users to switch between 4K (3,840 x 2,160) at 240Hz and Full-HD (1,920 x 1,080) at 480Hz with one simple click. This time-saving innovation, easily managed via a hotkey or joystick’s directional switch, lets users instantly apply the optimal combination of screen resolution and refresh rate for the genre of game they’re playing. For fast-paced action titles and shooting games, users can select FHD 480Hz, while visually rich story-driven games can be enjoyed in 4K 240Hz.

In addition to the Dual-Hz feature, the 32-inch UltraGear OLED possesses an impressive 0.03ms (GtG) response time that helps eliminate motion blur, boost clarity and deliver dynamic gameplay. This, combined with the exceptional color and contrast that LG’s self-lit OLED technology is known for, takes the visual experience to a whole new level.

The 32GS95UE further enhances the user experience with its minimal screen bezels and powerful, nuanced sound. LG’s 4-side virtually borderless design provides a stunning display that doesn’t distract from the on-screen action. The monitor creates an exhilarating, three-dimensional soundscape with Pixel Sound technology and an integrated front-facing sound system featuring two woofers and support for DTS Virtual:X. The speakers are cleverly hidden behind the OLED panel itself, eliminating the need for external speakers and saving valuable desk space.

Elevating Gaming Immersion Through Innovative Design

The CES 2024 Innovation Award-winning 39-inch 39GS95QE and its smaller sibling, the 34-inch 34GS95QE, expand the gaming experience with their 800R-curved, 21:9 aspect ratio UltraWide Quad-HD (3,440 x 1,440) resolution OLED displays. Elevating user immersion, these panoramic monitors also feature LG’s Anti-Glare & Low Reflection Coating, a 4-side borderless design, 240Hz refresh rate and 0.03ms (GtG) response time. The 800R curvature and cinematic 21:9 format of the 39GS95QE and 34GS95QE, together with LG’s OLED display tech, add a new dimension to gaming and content viewing.

The latest LG UltraGear OLED gaming monitors also incorporate the new Unity Hexagonal design rear cover, seamlessly integrating sleek aesthetics with efficient cable management. The slim ‘L’ Stand, introduced this year, offers ergonomic benefits, stability and space-efficiency. Along with tilt-, height-, pivot-, and swivel-adjustability, the stand has a smaller footprint than 2023’s V-shaped stand, helping to free up space and increase desk usability. The stylish and functional stand also provides installation flexibility and contributes to the monitors’ unapologetically futuristic look.

More Models to Meet Gamers’ Diverse Demands

Along with the new 32-incher, and the 34- and 39-inch curved models, LG’s 2024 UltraGear OLED gaming monitor lineup welcomes two 45-inch monitors and a 27-inch monitor (models 45GS95QE, 45GS96QB and 27GS95QE). These upgraded versions of the highly acclaimed 45GR95QE and 27GR95QE further enhance the UltraGear family, delivering the exceptional gaming experience that LG’s premium gaming monitor brand is known for. With high refresh rates, fast response times and outstanding picture quality, these monitors meet the expectations of discerning consumers. Additionally, all three models are VESA DisplayHDR™ True Black 400 certified, offering high-brightness screens that produce deep blacks and enhance the depth and detail in darker game environments.

A strong performer, the 45-inch 45GS96QB takes users deeper into their favorite games; its UltraWide QHD resolution curved (800R) OLED display and built-in speakers ensuring realistic visuals and sound. Meanwhile, the 27GS95QE is a great option for smaller spaces, providing a 27-inch flat screen OLED display with all the specifications and features needed for next-level gaming.

“LG’s new lineup of UltraGear OLED gaming monitors elevates the gaming experience with groundbreaking technologies and a variety of sizes and form factors,” said YS Lee, vice president and head of the IT business unit of LG Electronics Business Solutions Company. “LG is dedicated to leading the gaming monitor segment and meeting gamers’ needs, designing innovative products that deliver a deeply satisfying visual and audio performance.”

SEOUL, Dec. 18, 2023 — LG Electronics (LG) will unveil its transparent antenna for automobiles at CES 2024. LG’s transparent film-type antenna, which is applied directly to vehicle glass, was designed in collaboration with renowned French glass manufacturer, Saint-Gobain Sekurit. A transformative telecommunications technology, the company’s transparent telematics solution is expected to make waves in the rapidly evolving mobility sector while further strengthening LG’s position in the automotive solutions market.

The automotive industry, where electric vehicles are now the norm and autonomous and software-defined vehicles are soon to arrive, is set for a connectivity revolution. This transformation demands cutting-edge telecommunications environments capable of real-time data exchange within high-tech personal spaces.

Designed for compatibility with various types of glass and vehicle designs, LG’s transparent antenna will be available as an on-glass or in-glass solution. The broad surface application of the film-type antenna guarantees reliable telecommunications performance and provides scalability to handle increased network traffic. Extremely adaptable, LG’s latest telematics innovation offers improved connectivity with support for 5G, GNSS (Global Navigation Satellite System) and Wi-Fi.

The transparent antenna can be seamlessly integrated in car windshields or glass sunroofs. This means vehicle manufacturers don’t have to make any design concessions when developing new models as it removes the need for the kind of housing typically required to accommodate conventional antennas. The film-type antenna features more than 80 of LG’s patented innovations, including the design capability to make antenna patterns transparent and transparent electrode technology. LG, in partnership with Saint-Gobain Sekurit, enhanced product integrity by developing a method to apply the transparent antenna onto glass. The leading glass maker is equipping electric vehicles worldwide.

“We’re pleased to unveil our smart glass featuring LG’s transparent antenna technology,” said Thibaut Heitz, Innovation and R&D Director of Saint-Gobain Sekurit. “In collaboration with LG, a leader in vehicle component solutions, we are pioneering advancements in vehicle telecommunications. Our common objective aim is to provide an enriched and unique in-vehicle environment, bringing the future of mobility to fruition.”

“Created through our close partnership with Saint-Gobain Sekurit, the transparent antenna is a next-generation product that has proven its exceptional communications performance for automotive applications via vehicle tests,” said Eun Seok-hyun, president of LG Vehicle component Solutions Company. “As a global leader in telematics and automotive solutions, LG is committed to advancing its technological capabilities and will continue to introduce new solutions that drive the evolution of the mobility experience.”

Competing for Customers, ‘Service Olympics’ Around the World

Driven by its core value of ‘Uncompromising Customer Experience,’ LG prioritizes exceptional customer experience at every stage, from the product introduction to after-sales service.

Since 2002, LG has held the ‘Service Olympics’ to boost the professionalism of service managers in a world of fast-changing trends in home appliances. This internal program has become an integral part of the company, providing repair and customer service professionals an opportunity to share their technical expertise. 2018 marked the global expansion of the program, and the evaluation scope widened to cover customer interaction and consultation.

Starting in October, LG held the three-month ‘2023 LG Electronics Service Olympics’ in South Korea and at global subsidiaries including the United States, the United Arab Emirates and India. Testing their skills and abilities to improve the quality of customer service, around 4,200 employees participated in the preliminary round, with about 300 proceeding to the finals.

Due to recent changes in home appliance trends, this year’s Service Olympics established a new competition where service managers went beyond providing consultations and repairs to closely monitor and take care of a customer’s actual product experience. Home appliance cleaning services have also become an official part of the competition in Korea while evaluation areas overseas have been expanded from major products such as refrigerators to various others including dishwashers.

In addition, to address the growing smart home ecosystem, service managers’ software knowledge was put to the test with added evaluations utilizing LG ThinQ, the company’s smart home platform.

The competitions were held in settings mirroring real-life living spaces to better understand and prepare for any inconveniences customers might face. This year’s Service Olympics also featured an evaluation with a judging panel that included non-LG personnel to highlight the customer’s perspective.

The Service Olympics hosted in South Korea at LG’s Learning Center in Pyeongtaek last month has gained popularity locally, with an increase of 100 participants entering the preliminary round compared to the previous year.

87 participants proceeded to the finals, demonstrating their ability to repair refrigerators, washers, dryers, air conditioners, TVs, PCs and small home appliances, as well as their skills in cleaning, providing customer service and offering consultations. In the repair technology and cleaning tests, service managers were presented with random malfunctions or contaminations, and problem-solving assessments accounted for time, accuracy, cleanliness and speed. Customer interaction tests encompassed all aspects of the process, ranging from the steps prior to meeting a customer to the product repair stage and post-service details.

In the U.S., the three-day Service Olympics took place for three days at the LG Electronics Tennessee Plant, which was selected as a Lighthouse Factory by the World Economic Forum (WEF) this January. The competition in the U.S. was expanded to include participants from Canada, and countries including the UAE and India hosted the Service Olympics locally for the first time.
