Championing Healthier Eating With Super Food Trucks

The importance of a well-balanced diet and its benefits for preventing diseases by boosting one’s immune system must never be underestimated. That said, an alarming number of people in Indonesia are malnourished and, unlike other parts of the world, this number is rising, not falling. This problem can be attributed to the number of children with limited access to nutrient-packed ‘superfoods’ like fruit, vegetables, beef, fish and nuts, according to a 2020 survey of low-income households that suggested children in Jakarta were not eating nearly as much nutrient-dense foods as they were before the pandemic.*

To take another step forward in its mission to make the world a better place for everyone, LG is bringing its healthier lifestyle initiatives to more underprivileged communities in Indonesia, most recently with its LG Lebaran Sehat (LG Healthy Eid) event. From May 4 to 6, the company set out to create social value in the nation’s bustling capital city, Jakarta, by delivering hot, healthy meals to hungry locals with LG’s flagship home appliances, including its cutting-edge microwave and expansive two-door refrigerator, playing their part.

Every year, Eid al-Fitr marks the end of Ramadan and is celebrated by hundreds of millions of Muslims in Indonesia alone. After a full month of fasting and prayer, families participate in a nationwide exodus, known as mudik, to reach their hometowns in time to celebrate lebaran, which involves a family feast made up of various delicious, traditional meals. This year, lebaran meant even more to Indonesians of Islam as it saw the return of mudik, since restrictions on mass movement were finally lifted after 2 years living with the global pandemic.

Believing that a spirit of solidarity within the local community would bring people together, LG Indonesia sent food trucks to three waste treatment facilities in the poorer areas of the city – Warung Buncit, Rawajati and Bantargebang. Hundreds of healthy meals were handed out to hard-working locals and deserving children, which were kept fresh and warm thanks to the advanced, energy-efficient LG products employed inside the restaurants on wheels.

LG Indonesia endeavors to bring new social activities that better the lives of people from all walks of life, collaborating with various influential partners across multiple industries along the way to make sure no community is left behind.

Planting a Greener Future for All

Staff of LG Kazakhstan and children from Almaty Regional Orphanage posing together for a photo after the planting activity

The first week of June, which presents International Children’s Day (June 1) and World Environment Day (June 5), reminded us of the importance of caring for our world and its children. To properly commemorate these universal holidays and live up to LG’s steadfast commitment to CSR activities that inspire positive change, LG Kazakhstan enlisted the help of 40 children from the Almaty Regional Orphanage to make a difference in their own backyard, and hopefully learn while having heaps of fun in the process.

The enthusiastic children selected which trees they wanted to plant in the garden, and now fifty apple, plum, apricot, cherry and pear trees are growing there and will eventually provide fresh fruit on their doorstep. Plant specialists were also on site to teach the kids which practices lead to the richest harvest and greenest environment. What’s more, to commemorate International Children’s Day, every hard-working child received a memorable souvenir as a reminder of the amazing work they did that day.

To be named in August 2022, the Top 10 will have the opportunity to build their business in collaboration with LG on an accelerated path to success, with full access to LG expertise, mentorship, and from NOVA Capital Alliance and investments from LG.

Since its official launch in August 2021, the Mission for the Future challenge has invited innovators and entrepreneurs to submit their business ideas, technologies and concepts that look to advance people, communities and the planet. The initial “First 50” startups selected through the challenge program received access to basic business infrastructural support and networking after demonstrating exceptional proof-of-concept within emerging industries, as well as the potential for a successful partnership within the wider LG business.

Mission for the Future is an annual challenge program that seeks out great ideas, concepts and businesses that will help improve the quality of life in the future. The goal of the challenge is to bring outside-in innovation to LG. In addition to the selected company prizes, the finalists can qualify for resources and investments from an allotted $20 million for new business development and the opportunity to work with LG NOVA’s Incubation team to scale their business.

Anish Kapoor’s Media Art Unveiled on LG SIGNATURE OLED R in Basel

Stunning Self-Lit Picture Quality of LG’s Unique, Rollable OLED Brought Renowned
Artist’s Exciting, New Work to Life at World’s Leading International Art Fair

A woman appreciating LG SIGNATURE OLED R as it displays Anish Kapoor’s Media Art beautifully through OLED-powered vivid colors

SEOUL, June 20, 2022 — LG Electronics (LG) collaborated with Anish Kapoor1 to showcase the world-renowned British-Indian artist’s media artwork on LG SIGNATURE OLED R. Representing the perfect fusion of artistry and technology, Kapoor’s experiential digital art on LG’s sublime, self-lit TV was presented in collaboration with LISSON GALLERY in Basel, Switzerland during Art Basel 2022 from June 16-19.

With superior picture quality enabled by millions of self-lit pixels, LG OLED TV has become a favorite with the creative industries and innovative artistic practitioners worldwide. Its ability to capture the essence of the artist’s vision through vibrant, accurate color reproduction, complete with deep blacks and infinite contrast, make LG OLED2 the ultimate digital canvas. Add in the unique form factor of LG SIGNATURE OLED R, which pairs a rollable screen – an innovation made possible by LG OLED technology – with a timeless, minimalist design, and the stage is set for the most memorable art and viewing experiences imaginable.

One of the most important artists working today, Anish Kapoor is a sculptor known for his distinctive and often impressively-scaled installations, such as Cloud Gate (2004) in Chicago’s Millennium Park and Sky Mirror (2006) in New York’s Rockefeller Center. Noted for his use of abstract forms, rich colors and reflective surfaces, the artist has turned his attention to the two-dimensional in his unique collaboration with LG.

Kapoor’s new work takes the form of a short film that continues his decades of combining shape with luxurious, saturated colors that constantly and subtly shift from one mesmerizing hue to another. The work was paired with a specially-commissioned soundtrack that adds to the experiential nature of the piece; complementing the visuals shown on LG SIGNATURE OLED R while drawing viewers into ‘the moment,’ and at times, creating a sense of disorientation.

LG previously partnered with Anish Kapoor for his major exhibition at the Accademia Gallery in Venice last April. During the event, LG OLED evo TV G series models were used to display images of Kapoor’s most well-known sculptures and installations, leveraging LG’s OLED evo technology to faithfully reproduce the colors and textures – and convey the three-dimensionality – of his physical works.

To celebrate the latest LG-Kapoor collaboration, 10 editions of the LG SIGNATURE OLED R Anish Kapoor Edition will be meeting art lovers around the world via LISSON GALLERY, one of the leading galleries, which has worked with the artist for forty years.

LG continues to deliver enriching artworld experiences through hosting a series of exhibitions demonstrating the intrinsic link and undeniable harmony between art and technology. The digital artworks brought to life by LG OLED will be uploaded to the OLED Art project website after their real-world unveiling, allowing art enthusiasts and OLED fans around the world to enjoy them at their convenience.

LG Presents the Future of Commercial Technology With
Digital Signage Solutions and Autonomous Robot Assistant

A diverse lineup of LG's LED signage products and autonomous robots showcased in Las Vagas at InfoComm 2022.

SEOUL, June 9, 2022 — LG Electronics (LG) will showcase its innovative commercial technologies including Transparent OLED Signage to a diverse lineup of LED signage products and autonomous robot assistants in Las Vegas, USA at InfoComm 2022 from June 8. LG will spotlight a variety of commercial use-case scenarios in seven distinct zones that demonstrate how LG products support business needs in boardrooms, retail boutiques, drive-throughs, residential home offices, professional creative studios and more.

Inside the booth, visitors will be treated to thoughtful technology implementations in spaces that explore how nearly all businesses today can leverage digital tools to improve efficiency, productivity and customer experiences.

Welcoming visitors to LG’s Retail Solutions zone is the LED signage solution using 54-inch bezel-free displays allowing integrators to create a seamless viewing experience. The new 54-inch LG LED Bloc (model LSAC) is approximately four times larger in area than most commonly used LED cabinets, and its unique size allows this model to use it like a 55-inch LCD video wall display with easy installation – it even fits the brackets of existing LCD video wall models.* Also being unveiled in the Retail Solutions zone, is the company’s first multi-purpose customer service robot, LG CLOi GuideBot, which is designed to provide wayfinding, enhanced security and powerful advertising opportunities. LG CLOi GuideBot’s friendly digital face and two large touch screens are designed to revolutionize the customer experience virtually everywhere from museums and convention centers to movie theaters and hotels.

The Reception zone highlights the creative and engaging possibilities of LG’s Transparent OLED Signage displays, while also demonstrating how 88-inch Ultra Stretch Displays and LG Ultra Slim LED signage can deliver informative and attractive backdrops.

In the Collaboration and Education Solutions zone, visitors will experience technologies targeted to boardrooms, meeting rooms and training rooms/learning environments. Products shown include LG’s 136-inch LED All-in-One display with onboard system controller and speakers, 55-inch and 43-inch versions of the LG One:Quick Works and One:Quick Flex 4K all-in-one collaboration tool, an 86-inch LG CreateBoard interactive whiteboard, the novel 28-inch LG DualUp Monitor with a unique 16:18 aspect ratio, a 27-inch QHD Ergo Dual desktop monitor, a 15-inch LG gram laptop and a 98-inch large format UHD signage for classrooms.

The Residential zone is split into two rooms. The Home Cinema area will exhibit LG MAGNIT – the jaw-dropping picture quality created by its several million self-emissive LED pixels lets people enjoy their favorite movies at home. And the Home Office area features a 43-inch One:Quick Flex display, a 14-inch LG gram laptop and two QHD ergonomic desktop monitors that can be independently oriented to form a 32:9 ultrawide display or a 16:18 display, or offer a vertical and horizontal screen simultaneously.

Creative, film and broadcast professionals may be especially interested in the OLED Pro Creative Studio zone, which demonstrates the exceptional color, clarity and performance of LG’s 32-inch UltraFine™ OLED Pro desktop monitor that can be supplemented with a monitor hood and a detachable self-calibration sensor. Two 65-inch UltraFine™ OLED Pro displays, one wall-mounted and the other on a stand, complete the space.

The Control Room zone demonstrates how LG’s 136-inch LED All-in-One can be leveraged in command centers. Plus, the company’s 55-inch Even Bezel LCD panels will form a variety of video wall displays with virtually no distinguishable separation between panels. A 43-inch IPS UHD desktop monitor will be displayed alongside a 49-inch IPS Dual QHD UltraWide™ curved monitor, offering a 32:9 aspect ratio.

Lastly, the Projector zone contains LG’s high-brightness and Ultra Short Throw (UST) 4K UHD CineBeam Laser projectors and the all-new ProBeam business projector showing how the company’s expansive product line offers optimized solutions for virtually every situation and need.
