PERFECT FOR BOTH LEAN-BACK VIEWING AND GAMING, LG’S 48-INCH OLED TV ROLLS OUT IN KEY MARKETS

Finest 4K Picture Quality Available in More Screen Sizes for Easier Adoption

Front view of LG’s 48-inch OLED TV displaying every detail of a red and purple galaxy, with the LG OLED logo in the top-left corner of the screen

SEOUL, May 27, 2020 — LG Electronics (LG) brings the unparalleled picture quality of LG OLED TV to an all-new screen size – 48-inches – with a focus on customers who want a mid-size TV that best fits their living space, are looking for a second TV without compromising picture quality or need a quality display for serious gaming. With the 4K Ultra HD OLED 48CX, LG is addressing the growing demand for the ultimate viewing experience in more screen sizes by expanding its OLED lineup to the mid-size TV market, complementing its already diverse lineup of 55, 65, 77 and 88-inch models.

The unbeatable picture quality of LG OLED display technology, boasting perfect blacks and infinite contrast thanks to self-illuminating pixels, is at the heart of the new 48-inch OLED TV. The set reproduces even more vivid and sharper 4K picture quality due to significantly higher pixel density of 8 million pixels on a more compact screen, density comparable with that of a 96-inch 8K TV. Delivering 4K UHD (3840 x 2160) resolution on a 48-inch OLED screen offers next-level viewing experience to the mid-size TV category for the first time.

LG OLED 48CX builds on the legacy established by LG’s OLED TVs over the past decade and is a great choice for serious gamers as it pairs superior picture quality with outstanding gaming features. The first TVs in the industry to be NVIDIA G-SYNC® Compatible means that graphics are rendered perfectly, increasing players’ sense of immersion by adapting the TV’s refresh rate to the frame rate of the connected hardware. LG’s self-emissive OLED technology employs the precision of individual pixel control to produce exceptional picture quality, low input lag and ultra-fast response time, for an immersive gaming experience without flicker or stuttering common to most displays.

What’s more, LG’s 48-inch CX OLED TV supports a variety of popular HDR formats such as dynamic HDR10 and Dolby Vision at up to 120 frames per second for 4K UHD content, taking advantage of advanced HDMI specifications such as auto low latency mode (ALLM), enhanced audio return channel (eARC) and variable refresh rate (VRR). LG’s 2020 OLED TVs support HDMI VRR, making them compatible with a wide variety of gaming devices such as graphics cards and consoles.

On top of delivering jaw-dropping graphics thanks to unparalleled variable refresh rate and ultra-fast response time, LG 48-inch CX OLED TV and all other 2020 LG OLED TVs feature HDR Gaming Interest Group’s (HGiG) HDR gaming profile. This means that gamers can enjoy high quality graphics when playing HDR games via consoles on their LG TVs.

To heighten gamers’ sense of immersion, the LG OLED 48CX also incorporates support for Dolby Atmos and LG’s deep learning-based AI Acoustic Tuning, which understands the acoustic environment and adjusts the sound for greater accuracy. The TV is also BT Surround ready, enabling two LG Bluetooth speakers to be connected simultaneously, up-mixing 2.0 channel sound to virtual 4.0 surround sound for more immersion in favorite games.

“LG is again pushing the innovation envelope by bringing the ultimate picture to a TV screen size that is much more approachable,” said Park Hyoung-sei, president of the LG Home Entertainment Company. “Now even more consumers will be able to experience the superior performance of LG OLED TVs, considered to be the most advanced gaming TV on the market today.”

Sales of the anticipated LG OLED 48CX kicks off in key European and Asian markets in June, with North America and other target countries to follow.

LG to Further Diversify TV Production for a More Efficient, Global Footprint

Two Lines from Gumi, Korea to be Relocated to
New Asia Hub Indonesia, Increasing Capacity by 50 Percent

LG’s facility in Indonesia with some laborers working in the assembly line.

SEOUL, May 20, 2020 — At a time when many other manufacturers are cutting back, LG Electronics (LG) is expanding its TV business with an eye on further diversifying its production footprint and stepping up capacity. The key component of this strategy will be LG’s Cibitung facility in Indonesia which will become the company’s new regional hub, taking over two of the six production lines currently running at in Gumi, South Korea. The move is expected to boost the efficiency of LG’s TV manufacturing across the globe, with Gumi maintaining its status as the control tower and taking on more work for LG’s other growing businesses.

The move is part of a larger picture to realign LG’s production strategy to be more closely aligned with shifting demand. Increasing capacity at the Indonesian site will allow LG to better supply consumers in Asia and Australia. The greater European market will continue to be supplied by the Mlawa plant in Poland while Reynosa and Mexicali in Mexico will be the primary source of TVs for LG in North America.

Established in 1995, the Cibitung facility will be upgraded with advanced automation across all production processes including assembly, quality inspection and product packaging to produce TVs, monitors and digital signage products. With the expansion and upgrade, LG Cibitung will increase its annual capacity by up to 50 percent.

LG Gumi’s role as the control center for LG’s TV and related display businesses worldwide will become even more important as it focuses on the manufacture of high-tech displays such as LG’s ultra-premium TVs and medical monitors. Gumi will be the center of research and the testing ground for more efficient manufacturing processes.

Your New Favorite Hangout is Right Here at Home

A family ‘cheers’ as they eat around the dinner table under dim lightingPhoto Credit: https://bit.ly/2XQ49w9

Heading to a local watering hole with coworkers or good friends after work may have been common practice in normal times, but these are not normal times.

But with every cloud there is a silver lining. Current circumstances provide the perfect opportunity to hone your cocktail-making skills and enjoy a relaxing drink at home with family or roommates. In addition to mastering the art of mixology, why not up your cooking game with some delicious, easy-to-prepare food pairings as well? The prices are a lot friendlier too.

Here are three important steps that can help you turn your home into your favorite hangout, with assistance from LG’s first-class home appliances.

An array of LG appliances, including LG InstaView™ with Craft Ice™, fitted into a beautiful modern kitchen

Step 1: Get creative with your drinks

The right elements mixed in the right proportions are key to any good cocktail or whiskey. A professional bartender knows that presentation is also a part of the puzzle, and for that, they have “fancy ice” to catch the eye and spur conversation. LG InstaView™ with Craft Ice™ refrigerator brings the fancy home, taking your cocktail-hour creations next-level with large, crystal-clear spheres of ice.

A woman takes an ice ball from the LG refrigerator’s Craft Ice Maker to chill her drink

Measuring two inches in diameter and melting more slowly than the unexciting ice cubes produced by most fridges, Craft Ice is not only gaze-worthy, it preserves the delicious flavors and optimal temperature of your artfully made drinks for longer. A classic mix, vodka tonic is instantly elevated with a few balls of Craft Ice and, of course, a slice of lemon or lime. Likewise, LG’s round ice is ideal for a White Russian, allowing you to sip at a leisurely pace without worrying about the creamy texture of the Kahlua and milk going watery. The combinations and fun are practically endless. So, get mixing and don’t forget the Craft Ice!

A tray of cookies is being taken from the LG Oven, with baking made easy via its LG ProBake Convection®

Step 2: Make memorable meals to match your favorite drinks

A great drink is always made better when served with a dish that complements its unique taste and aroma. While you may not have a trained chef in the house, the LG ProBake Convection® oven can help you to produce restaurant-quality meals in your own kitchen. Whether its roast chicken or buffalo wings, the oven quickly and thoroughly cooks everything to perfection, using LG’s True Convection technology to deliver dishes that are crispy on the outside and tender and juicy on the inside.

And with the convenience of LG ThinQ™, get suggestions on a range of suitable meal pairings for your beverage of choice. Not only does LG’s AI platform provide a wealth of recipes to choose from, ThinQ can even preheat the oven to the right temperature and allow you to check on meal progress via smartphone. And when you’re done, LG’s EasyClean® technology employs steam to get the oven clean in a mere 10 minutes, giving you and your loved ones more time to relax and enjoy one another’s company.

A view of a fitted LG Dishwasher with QuadWashTM the door open to show it full of clean dishes, pots and glasses

Step 3: Relax and don’t worry about the dishes

After dinner and drinks at home comes the inevitable cleanup, a thankless job if there ever was one. With the LG QuadWash™ Steam Dishwasher, cleanup is a breeze. Equipped with the company’s proprietary TrueSteam™ technology, the dishwasher removes stains and food debris with ease, delivering a thorough yet gently cleansing that ensures spotless dishes and gleaming glassware every time. It also boasts nine different cycles, the highly-adjustable EasyRack™ Plus system – which can easily accommodate all kinds of dishes, even long-stem wine glasses – and can be controlled and monitored with the intuitive LG ThinQ app.

With the right tools for the job, there’s no reason you can’t make home your new favorite hangout. With classy cocktails, delectable dishes, and pain-free cleanup, the good times can be safely enjoyed without setting foot outside your front door.

LG NANOCELL TV, YOUR NEW EXERCISE PARTNER

The poster of LG NanoCell and SWEATers’ Indoor Cycle Challenge

Keeping fit has always been challenging but even more so during these days of social distancing. With gyms and parks closed world over, it’s tougher now more than ever to muster the motivation to stick to a cardio or high-intensity interval training (HIIT) regimen, let alone go out for a quick spin on the bike.

To encourage people to stay active during these unprecedented times, LG Turkey came up with an idea that was not only fun but also gave individuals the motivation to participate. After all, who wouldn’t want to win a brand-new 55-inch LG NanoCell TV? Held over two weeks, the LG NanoCell Indoor Cycle Challenge was an interactive event that provided participants with the opportunity to get some exercise and have fun competing against others for bragging rights and of course, that new TV.

A woman participates in the LG Indoor Cycle Challenge by riding her bike in front of her living room LG NanoCell TV

In addition to helping Turkish people from all over the country connect and get fit, the event also gave LG an opportunity to communicate the many ways that LG NanoCell TVs could play an important role in customers’ indoor lives. Boasting features such as Smart Screen Share, Apple AirPlay 2, AI-powered voice control, the Magic Remote and the intuitive webOS interface, the NanoCell lineup makes it easy to mirror exercise apps from mobile devices to big screen and access the extensive range of workout videos available online.

LG NanoCell in Partnership with SWEATers, Turkey’s popular sporting community

For the LG NanoCell Indoor Cycle Challenge, LG partnered with SWEATers, a local online platform popular with Turkey’s sporting community. The only equipment required to participate was a regular bicycle and a smart trainer (available at most sporting goods stores) to turn the bike into a stationary one that could connect to various training apps. Within two weeks, competitors were required to complete a total of 10 45-minute long training sessions while averaging a speed of 29 kilometers per hour. Smartphone apps such as Zwift, Rouvy and TacX enabled riders to “virtually” traverse some of the world’s most scenic routes. When wirelessly connected to a big-screen TV like LG NanoCell TV, these virtual rides are made all the more immersive, and working out indoors all the more enjoyable.

The 400-plus entrants shared images, videos, and stories of their efforts on Instagram using the hashtag #lifeisgoodwhenyousweat. The wealth of content generated by the event ultimately led to significant buzz across multiple platforms and, importantly, served as a call to action for consumers across Turkey to stay active at home.

Three male participants of the LG Nanocell / SWEATers Indoor Cycle Challenge hold nothing back as they ride for first place at home

The winner of the LG NanoCell Indoor Cycle Challenge and owner of a brand-new TV, Kubilay Dokumcu, found the event very motivating, noting, “I wanted to stay active at home and LG’s challenge gave me a great reason to get off the couch and get pedaling. I loved the competition aspect of it, but I think I love my 55-inch LG NanoCell TV even more!”

With LG NanoCell TV, consumers have a reliable exercise partner at hand to help them stay motivated and active at home. Whether it’s yoga, aerobics, fast-paced dumbbell routines or pilates-inspired movements, a TV and the living room can be a great substitute for a live instructor and the gym or studio. And when the workout is over, the convenient control options and incredible content available on LG NanoCell make it easy to sit back and find something great to watch.

LG ANNOUNCES FIRST-QUARTER 2020 FINANCIAL RESULTS

Highest First-Quarter Operating Income Margin in Company History

A picture of LG Twin Towers in the daytime

SEOUL, Apr. 29, 2020 — LG Electronics Inc. (LG) today announced first-quarter 2020 consolidated revenue of KRW 14.73 trillion (USD 12.45 billion) and operating profit of KRW 1.09 trillion (USD 921.47 million). Although revenue declined modestly compared with the same period last year, operating income improved 21.1 percent from the 2019 quarter making this only the second time in history when quarterly operating profit exceeded KRW 1 trillion. The 7.4 percent operating margin was the highest in LG’s history for a first quarter.

The LG Home Appliance & Air Solution Company reported first-quarter revenues of KRW 5.42 trillion (USD 4.58 billion) and operating profit of KRW 753.5 billion (USD 636.8 million). Revenues were virtually unchanged from the first quarter last year, the effect of softer global demand during the pandemic offset by higher sales in Korea of steam appliances such as washers, dryers, dishwashers and the LG Styler clothing care system, reflecting consumer interest in health and hygiene. Operating profit (3.6 percent higher than the same period last year) and operating margin were the highest in LG’s history, benefitting from cost-reduction efforts and increased interest in premium products.

The LG Home Entertainment Company posted first-quarter revenues of KRW 2.97 trillion (USD 2.51 billion), a decrease of 4.8 percent from the same period last year as a result of component supply constraints and slowing global demand due to lower consumer confidence. Taking into account the reclassification of information technology products from the Home Entertainment Company to the Business Solutions Company this year, operating income of KRW 325.8 billion (USD 275.32 million) increased 31.7 percent from the same period last year as a result of operating efficiencies and expansion of premium products such as OLED TVs and NanoCell TVs. With market demand affected negatively by the pandemic, the company is adjusting the proportion of premium products, expanding online sales, optimizing resource input and streamlining asset management to improve profitability going forward.

The LG Mobile Communications Company reported first-quarter sales of KRW 998.6 billion (USD 843.9 million), narrowing its operating loss to KRW 237.8 billion (USD 200.96 million) from the previous quarter. Sales decreased nearly 34 percent from last year’s first quarter, primarily due to supply disruptions from Chinese partners. Costs were further reigned in through production and marketing efficiencies, ongoing efforts to help buffer the effect of the pandemic. The new LG Velvet 5G smartphone launch in Korea during the second quarter will mark a new direction with a different design philosophy, competitive yet value-conscious components and enhanced online sales initiatives.

The LG Vehicle Component Solutions Company recorded first-quarter revenues of KRW 1.32 trillion (USD 1.11 billion), a 2.1 percent decline from the same period last year with an operating loss of KRW 96.8 billion (USD 81.8 million) as a result of the business disruption of North American and European automakers. To minimize ongoing pandemic risk the company will accelerate its supply chain optimization efforts taking into consideration a reduction in demand from automakers and continue to improve its business structure with further cost savings in the second quarter.

The LG Business Solutions Company generated first-quarter sales of KRW 1.71 trillion (USD 1.44 billion), an increase of 3.5 percent year-on-year and 18.8 percent higher than the previous quarter thanks to increased sales of solar modules and IT products such as LG gram notebooks. Operating profit of KRW 212.2 billion (USD 179.3 million) marked 26.3 percent higher than the same period the year earlier and 159 percent higher than the previous quarter due to increased solar module sales, stable profitability from information displays and innovations in productivity. To help minimize further pandemic disruptions, the company is expanding online sales efforts for IT product to capture a greater share of the telecommuting and distance-learning markets.

LG FILES IP INFRINGEMENT SUIT AGAINST TURKEY’S BEKO

With a Number of Patents Related to the Use of Steam in Home Appliances,
LG Defends Innovation from Improper Use by Competitors

Promotional image showing inside an LG washing machine’s drum as its TrueSteamTM technology cleans a sweater, with icons overlapping to highlight its Allergy Care, Steam Refresh and Steam Softener features
SEOUL, Apr. 29, 2020 — LG Electronics Inc. (LG) filed an intellectual property infringement lawsuit against Beko Deutschland GmbH in Mannheim District Court in Germany for infringement of a patent for steam technology that protects certain garments from damage. Beko is a subsidiary of Turkey’s largest consumer electronics company, Arçelik A.Ş.

The suit focuses on the user interface of LG washing machines featuring TrueSteamTM technology. The patent being protected prevents steam from being dispersed in certain wash cycles where heat-sensitive garments may be damaged. LG TrueSteam technology is a feature in various household appliances including washing machines, dryers, dishwashers and LG’s Styler garment management system. LG utilizes steam for its clean and safe benefits in sterilization, deodorization and wrinkle relief.

In September, LG filed a lawsuit against Arçelik and its German affiliates Beko Deutschland GmbH and Grundig Intermedia GmbH in connection with freezer door-ice making technology in LG Side-by-Side refrigerators.

“We provide value to customers through our devotion and commitment to research and development,” said Jeon Saeng-gyu, executive vice president of LG Electronics’ Intellectual Property Center. “Protecting our intellectual property is a top priority because innovation should never be taken for granted because this is what separates LG from the competition.”

TAPPING THE NATURAL POWER OF STEAM FOR SAFER, CLEANER CLOTHES AND DISHES

Maintaining good household hygiene goes a long way toward improving one’s well-being. Home appliances play an important role in this regard because not only can they handle a lot of clothes and dishes at once, they free up time that can be used to do something else. One of the downsides of using machines to do the work that used to be done by hand is the amount of chemicals and detergents required to get clothes and dishes clean.

Front view of LG Styler standing next to an LG TrueSteam™ dishwasher.

LG, with its long history of home appliance innovation, has for years been developing technologies to get clothes and dishes cleaner while at the same time relying less on chemical detergents. One of these innovations is something that all of us can create easily at home with nothing more than water and heat.

Steam.

An image combining steam coming from LG TrueSteam and a natural geyser.

Creating steam is the easy part. Harnessing it and applying it to home appliances is the bigger challenge. LG engineers were the first in the industry to accomplish this with great success. So successful in fact that LG holds a number of patents related to the implementation of steam in its products that benefit consumers with cleaner dishes and fresher clothes.

The LG TrueSteam dishwasher fitted into a kitchen on the left, and a look inside the dishwasher and its TrueSteam technology on the right.

LG uses powerful and natural steam to remove bacteria and germs requiring less detergents that pollute our wastewater systems. High-temperature TrueSteam™ is created by boiling water directly in the LG dishwasher, Styler and dryer. TrueSteam is hot enough to penetrate dirt, grime and grease to remove stains you can see and germs you can’t.

An image combining the High-temperature TrueSteam produced inside the dishwasher with the natural steam coming off a lagoon.

TrueSteam eradicates nearly all bacteria including those associated with food poisoning while making light work of crusted food residue and stubborn stains, achieving a minimum 99.999 percent when operated on the sanitizing cycle.1

A promotional image of LG’s trusted and certified TrueSteam appliance, LG Styler.

And TrueSteam is also behind the revolutionary LG Styler’s ability to refresh users’ favorite garments. Styler is recognized by trusted organizations such as the Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America (AAFA) for being “an asthma and allergy friendly® appliance” and certified by the British Allergy Foundation (BAF) for reducing 99.9 percent of house dust mite allergens. The clothing care system not only eliminates germs and bacteria commonly found in clothing, it is also effective in refreshing children’s plush toys, backpacks and more.

Front view of LG’s new dryer with TrueSteam next to an image showing inside the drum as it runs a cycle with steam.

Continuing to expand its steam-equipped appliance lineup, LG recently launched a new dryer with TrueSteam (model RH16VS) in South Korea. This new product leverages the steam technology found in LG Styler to neutralize bacteria and allergens and was tested by Intertek using AATCC standards and found to have half the amount of wrinkles compared to the average dryer.2

For anyone seeking to embrace healthier living, creating a more hygienic home is a good place to start. With innovative application of natural solutions such as steam, LG’s appliances are able to offer the peace of mind that simply can’t be replicated with chemicals alone.

And we have Mother Nature to thank for that.

With the arrival of spring, many will find themselves wistfully looking out the window with thoughts of a vacation in some sun-soaked, exotic location. Unfortunately, long distance traveling has become somewhat challenging these days. With home being the most realistic (and safest) destination for the foreseeable future, the option of a staycation is looking more and more attractive.

Catching up on one’s “must watch” movie list is a top priority for many staycationers. For the best staycation experience, you need a TV that can bring every second of every scene to life. That’s where LG OLED TV comes in.

With self-emissive display technology, OLED possesses the ability to produce true black, an infinite contrast ratio and dazzlingly real colors. The latest blockbuster films and hit series look astonishingly realistic on LG OLED, with inky-black shadows and vibrant hues that bring a three-dimensionality to the characters and places on screen. A high refresh rate adds to the sense of realism, delivering silky smooth motion when the action is fast-paced and exhilarating.

LG conducted an internal poll for recommendations on the best stuff to watch during a staycation. Here, in no particular order, is a list of the top picks:

Dark Comedy: Parasite (2019)

Parasite is a 2019 dark humor thriller hailing from South Korea. The plot follows a lower-class family’s efforts to infiltrate a wealthy family’s home as they pose as qualified professionals who are, one by one, hired to work inside the extravagant home. The film received widespread critical acclaim for its direction, acting, cinematography, social commentary and dark humor, becoming the most awarded and highest grossing South Korean film to date.

Drama Series: The Witcher (2019)

The Witcher is a Netflix-produced series based on the fantasy novels written by Polish author, Andrzej Sapkowski. Taking place in a fictional medieval realm called the Continent, The Witcher follows the exploits of Geralt of Rivia, a “witcher” with special powers to hunt down monsters and other evil creatures.

Animation: The Lion King (2019)

This Disney photorealistic computer-animated remake of the 1994 animated hit, tells the story of a young lion cub, heir to the Pride Lands throne, who must overcome family betrayal to become the next king. Some questioned the need for a remake of a classic. Audiences disagreed, making the movie the highest-grossing animated film of all-time.

Classic: Little Women (2019)

This coming-of-age drama, based on Louisa May Alcott’s classic novel, tells the story of three sisters growing up in nineteenth century New England. Directed by indie favorite Greta Gerwig who received an Oscar nomination for this effort, the movie’s timeless themes of responsibility, love and family still resonate today.

Documentary: Explained (2018)

A docuseries produced by popular news site Vox, Explained investigates a diverse range of topics, form the lighthearted (K-pop, eSports) to the serious (the world’s water crisis, gender pay inequality). At only 15 to 20 minutes long, each entertaining episode offers enough detail to leave viewers feeling more informed about the world.

A couple watching a movie together on an LG TV.

Although a glamorous getaway to relieve some stress might sound ideal, a vacation spent at home can certainly have its rewards. It’s more familiar, cozier and certainly safer. And with so much great content right at our fingertips, there’s no better time than now to stay put, get comfortable and enjoy a staycation in front of a TV.

Preferably, an LG OLED TV.

LG EMBARKS ON NEW PRODUCT ROADMAP WITH LG VELVET

New Smartphone Leads the Way with Focus on Stylish, Tactilely Pleasing Design

LG Velvet Logo

SEOUL, Apr. 12, 2020—With today’s smartphones becoming more and more alike and difficult to distinguish by technical specifications alone, LG Electronics (LG) is answering the challenge by embarking on a new product roadmap that will emphasize distinctive designs and “tactile” elegance to set itself apart. The first device to illustrate this new philosophy is the upcoming LG VELVET, featuring a unique “Raindrop” camera and a symmetrical, flowing form factor that is both pleasing to the eye and pleasing to touch.

LG VELVET will be the first device to implement the company’s new branding strategy for its mobile devices, moving away from alphanumerical designations in favor of familiar and expressive names that will help the consumer capture the essence of the device best suited for his or her personality and ever changing trends. The name “velvet” is intended to evoke images of lustrous smoothness and premium softness, two key characteristics of the new phone.

“Our new branding reflects current trends of addressing the unique personal tastes and emotions of the individual with a greater emphasis on design,” said Chang Ma, senior vice president of product strategy at LG Mobile Communications Company. “It’s a more intuitive approach that we are confident will resonate with today’s consumers and help us to establish a clearer brand identity.”

LG’S NEW DESIGN LANGUAGE TAPS INTO NATURE WITH VISUAL ELEGANCE, TACTILE PERFECTION

Designed to be Touched, New Smartphone Design
Aims to Deliver Sophisticated Style for the Senses

Render image of LG’s upcoming flagship smartphone in black and white

SEOUL, Apr. 9, 2020 — LG Electronics’ (LG) new minimalistic design language for its upcoming smartphone is a nod to the natural world with a visual form factor that differs from the industry trend and features a “raindrop” camera and front-back symmetrical curves, among other evolutionary design departures from previous LG mobile devices.

Contrary to the trend of the squarish camera bump seen on many of today’s high-end smartphones, the upper-left corner of the LG phone’s backside hosts three rear cameras and an LED flash in descending order by size, meant to evoke images of falling raindrops. The main camera sits slightly above the surface while the other two lens lie seamlessly under the smooth glass. This tactilely pleasing design layout offers the added benefit of taking up less space on the rear of the phone for a cleaner, sleeker overall look.

Another new design element that will be making its debut in the upcoming device is 3D Arc Design, where the edges of the display and rear are symmetrically curved, exuding a much more natural feeling in the hand than previous LG phones. This artful design touch means less sharp edges and angles that makes the phone not only more pleasing to the eye, but also more pleasing to touch.

“Our upcoming smartphone will draw on the rich history of classic LG designs which have always been distinctive at first touch,” said vice president Cha Yong-deok, head of LG’s Mobile Communications Design Lab. “This handset will be a first-look at the competitive edge we will be bringing to every LG smartphone going forward.”
