LG CONNECTS TO SPANISH CONSUMERS THROUGH EQUINE AND ART

By LG Spain Staff

World over, consumers are showing a greater preference for home appliances that offer far more than just basic functionality. As tastes become more refined and technologies more advanced, the demand for more creative lifestyle options have grown, relegating the utilitarian beige boxes of yesteryear to the dustbin. Today’s elegant, refined home electronics and appliances prioritize design and convenience without ignoring the core basics: reliability and user-friendliness.

A rider and her horse leap over a tall hurdle at an equestrian competition while the jump displays the LG SIGNATURE logo to highlight the brand as the main sponsor.

Steeped in art and culture, the people of Spain have long had an appreciation of quality and an eye for innovations that infuse daily life with ease and joy. In particular, the stylish and technologically superior appliances from LG SIGNATURE, LG Electronics’ premium brand, have struck a chord with local consumers.

Madrid Horse Week, one of the most important global equestrian programs and biggest sporting events in Spain, proved to be the ideal forum for showcasing LG’s latest offerings to a large and sophisticated audience. LG SIGNATURE’s cutting-edge products, including the new wine cellar, were on display during the week-long festivities, with the brand’s name emblazoned throughout the course as well as on the winning trophy.

Fashion designer Tamara Falcó poses next to LG SIGNATURE Wine Cellar and her movie-inspired artwork as numerous reporters take photos.

Beyond sporting events, the Spanish have a collective love of art. So LG’s Spain team hosted an LG SIGNATURE gala event in November with Spanish celebrity and renowned luxury fashion designer Tamara Falcó taking on the role of master of ceremonies. Tamara is well familiar with LG’s premium collection, having been LG SIGNATURE’s brand ambassador in Spain since 2016. The highlight of the gala was a photo exhibition that celebrated the world of cinema where LG SIGNATURE products were artfully integrated into imaginary cinematic environments.

A photo recreating the Mad Hatter tea party scene from Alice in Wonderland, with fashion designer Tamara Falcó sitting at the head of a dinner table as she leans back against the LG SIGNATURE Door-in-Door refrigerator and touches the InstaView panel.

One of the more popular images at the exhibit drew its inspiration from the Mad Hatter’s tea party scene from Alice in Wonderland. The fresh strawberries and cakes displayed on the elaborately decorated table hinted at LG SIGNATURE refrigerator’s enhanced freshness features as model Tamara Falcó’s stunning pink gown is mirrored by the stainless steel and glass door.

Another art piece, this time recreating the feel of iconic movie Rear Window, with fashion designer Tamara Falcó loading laundry into her bright-light-emitting LG SIGNATURE Washing Machine as she peers out the window.

In another striking piece, Tamara takes on a starring role in one of Alfred Hitchcock’s most iconic works, Rear Window. The scene captures her glancing out the window, as if spotting someone watching from afar. She’s dressed elegantly — in a style synonymous with the LG SIGNATURE brand — as a bright light emanates from inside the washing machine.

The LG SIGNATURE lineup including the refrigerator, air purifier, OLED TV and washing machine.

“The design and quality of LG SIGNATURE made it easy to seamlessly work the products into each of these cinematic-themed compositions,” said Falcó. “Just as they are in these images, LG SIGNATURE appliances are right at home in the most beautiful and well-curated apartments and houses.”

With a larger 80Wh battery in both the 17Z90N and 15Z90N, users can still enjoy hours and hours of use away from an outlet with no sacrifice in portability. The new LG grams also come with Wi-Fi 6 ensuring enhanced wireless connectivity, better efficiency and lower battery consumption. The new LG grams feature Mega Cooling System to keep the devices running cool and quiet under all usage scenarios.

A CES® 2020 Innovation Award winner, the flagship LG gram 17 is the ultimate solution for anyone looking for maximum productivity in a portable form factor. The expansive 17-inch Wide Quad Extended Graphics Array (WQXGA) IPS display delivers highly detailed images with incredibly precise colors. The device’s 16:10 display provides more room to work when editing videos, photos and documents.

Redesigned for 2020, the new lineup delivers more features and a minimalist design for a seamless, premium look. The new LG gram 15 and LG gram 14 continue the brand’s legacy of providing long usage times for less charging and more convenience. LG’s svelte laptops are industry benchmarks in its ability to fit a 15-inch display in a 14-inch body and a 14-inch screen in a chassis designed for a 13.3-inch computer.

LG’s ultra-portable convertible laptop, the LG gram 2-in-1 (model 14T90N), returns this year with greater functionality and the addition of ThunderboltTM 3. Giving users the power to be more productive no matter where they are, this versatile device retains its core DNA, delivering more than 20 hours of worktime in a package that tips the scale at only 1,145 grams.

“The LG gram series continues to lead the industry in delivering beyond expectations when it comes to portability without sacrifice,” said Jang Ik-hwan, head of LG’s IT business division. “Historically, customers had to choose one feature among performance, portability and battery life. LG gram is proof that this adage is no longer true.”

Visitors to LG’s CES 2020 booth (#11100, Central Hall, Las Vegas Convention Center) will be able to experience first-hand the power, performance, and portability LG’s newest gram offerings from Jan. 7-10, 2020. Follow other CES announcements from LG on social media using #LGCES2020.

REDISCOVERING THE BEAUTY OF HAWAII WITH LG G8X THINQ

An image taken by LG G8X ThinQ perfectly captures Waikiki beach’s glowing red and orange sunset.

When the quality lenses and features of LG G8XThinQ are combined with the versatility of LG Dual Screen, a variety of exciting, new possibilities open up. Double the screens, double the fun and double the ways to make the mobile camera experience easier and better than ever.

Featuring high quality lenses and advanced camera features, the LG G8XThinQ is the ideal smartphone for capturing beautiful natural scenery and once-in-a-lifetime shots. To show off its high-quality camera performance, LG selected an exclusive group of LG enthusiasts via social media for an all-expense week-long trip to Hawaii, armed with just the LG G8XThinQ and little more than their creativity.

A wide-angle landscape photo taken by LG G8X ThinQ captures the beautiful blue sea and green hills of a town by the beach in Honolulu, Hawaii on a sunny day.

Widest Camera Lens

Whether it’s a night scene of the skyline of Honolulu or a view of Waikiki Beach in all its splendid glory, you’ll want a good wide-angle lens to fully capture the scene. The pioneer of ultra wide-angle lenses for smartphones, LG has equipped the LG G8XThinQ with an impressive 136-degree angle lens. With such a wide field of view, recording breathtaking views in their panoramic entirety becomes second nature.

A photo taken by LG G8X ThinQ captures the special moment of a child splashing in the waves on the shore of a Hawaiian beach.

AI Action Shot

One of the joys of a Hawaiian vacation is heading down to the famous beaches and dipping your toes in the water. Thanks to AI Action Shot, blurry images of the kids splashing in the waves are a thing of the past. See individual droplets of water in amazing clarity as well as the joyful expressions of those doing the splashing.

A four-picture collage shows four different photos which have been remastered by the LG G8X ThinQ AI CAM’s filter suggestions.

AI CAM

The LG G8XThinQ features AI CAM with the ability to recognize up to 19 different scenes such as the night sky, sandy beaches and glowing red sunsets with AI precision. AI CAM then recommends optimal filter settings and boosts color and contrast accordingly for every scenario. With optimal saturation and brightness, images enhanced with AI CAM stand out from the crowd and are perfect for reminding friends and family of the fun they could be having!

A photo taken using the Manual Mode feature of the LG G8X ThinQ shows Waikiki beach’s spectacular purple sunset.

Manual Mode

When set to Manual Mode, LG G8XThinQ offers a DSLR-like experience where exposure, ISO, focus, white balance and more can be adjusted fit any situation, mood or preference. For professional-looking images, even in low light conditions, Manual Mode is a powerful tool in a traveler’s arsenal.

Tilt View

LG Dual Screen is an incredibly useful second display, and as such, it can also act as a powerful and flexible viewfinder display that helps take shots from all kinds of interesting angles. Tilt View lets shooters see exactly what the lens is seeing, even if the subject is blocked by the extra tall person in front or over the edge of a bridge. Similar to a flip screen or articulating monitor screen on expensive DSLRs, Tilt View gives shutterbugs far more shooting angles than with one screen alone.

EVOLVED LG THINQ™ EXPANDS AND STREAMLINES SMART HOME MANAGEMENT FOR BETTER LIVING

In Addition to Easy Control and Monitoring of LG’s Connected
Smart Home Appliances, Enhanced Mobile App Saves Time and Effort

LG smart appliances lineup including refrigerator, front-load washing machine, oven and dishwasher with the SmartThinQ™ logo on the upper left. Google Home, an AI speaker with Google Assistant standing along with LG smart appliances.

Embodying the company’s “evolve, connect and open” AI strategy, the LG ThinQ now provides more seamless management of LG smart home appliances and expanded services to customers in more than 150 countries.

LG ThinQ leverages Google Assistant voice recognition technology to deliver a convenient way to connect users to their ThinQ appliances. Originally introduced as SmartThinQ™, the LG ThinQ app is the first mobile app for smart home appliances to offer voice recognition, allowing users the freedom to control and monitor their appliances via conversational voice commands.

What’s more, this advanced AI-based app provides personalized support in the form of Proactive Customer Care to inform users of potential problems before they even occur, facilitating faster technician visits if necessary. Proactive Customer Care helps increase product performance and operational lifespan with detailed guidance and advice for keeping one’s appliances functioning.

Via the app, customers can connect their LG smart appliances to their Amazon accounts for automatic reordering and delivery with Amazon Dash Replenishment. Frequently used supplies such as dishwasher soap, laundry detergent or fabric softener can be pre-selected to be delivered automatically to one’s door when more are needed.

LG ThinQ enables customized operation through features such as Smart Care+ and Smart Pairing. A refrigerator with Smart Care+ powered by LG ThinQ analyzes usage patterns to deliver more personalized service, lowering energy costs and keeping food fresh longer by automatically setting the ideal temperature and entering power-saving mode. With Smart Pairing, LG’s newest dryers can connect wirelessly to LG washing machines to offer the drying cycle based on the wash cycle. Thanks to such innovations from LG, customers never need to worry about ruining clothes ever again.

“LG ThinQ is an example of our vision to deliver a more convenient smart home experience without the steep learning curve that advanced products often demands,” said Ryu Hye-jung, executive director of LG’s Smart Home Business. “LG has always been about putting the user first, not the technology, and the evolution of our smart home ecosystem clearly demonstrates this commitment.”

WHAT MAKES LG DUAL SCREEN THE PERFECT WORK-LIFE PHONE

As most of us have already learned, balancing work and life takes more than just a commitment or a promise. Technology has enabled us to “take work with us” with the help of a laptop or the cloud but even these solutions can be limiting. Inevitably you’ll find yourself outside without your trusty notebook or far from an internet café.

Luckily, technology continues to march forward, offering new solutions to old problems. One of these solutions is to make your smartphone – which is with you all the time – into a more productive work tool. Let’s take a look at how LG tackled this age-old dilemma.

An image posted on Instagram titled ‘Multi-tasking’ to promote the benefits of LG G8X ThinQ with Dual Screen.

Designed to be the ultimate multitasking tool, LG G8XThinQ with its Dual Screen is a device where fun and productivity happily coexist. Even when work intrudes on your personal time, you can still be productive even if you leave your bulky laptop behind. Sometimes work simply can’t be avoided. With LG Dual Screen, that urgent call from the office can be made less annoying.

Whenever Work Calls

Imagine this nightmare. The boss is on an important business trip and just called requesting your participation in a last-minute conference call. On your vacation! Without missing a beat, you sit in your study, open your LG G8XThinQ and Dual Screen and initiate a video call on one screen while scanning a report on the other. A half hour later, your clients are happy and so is your boss and you managed all this without your work laptop. Now you can get back to checking out what to do in the evening or posting your day’s adventures on Instagram.

Double Your Efficiency

With two generously proportioned screens, there are so many ways to be more efficient. For instance, when participating in a video call with Dual Screen, you can simultaneously collaborate with colleagues on a presentation while responding to urgent e-mails on the other display. Read restaurant reviews on one display while sending venue directions to a dinner date on the other. Two screens mean you can be twice as productive without spending twice the time.

Shortcut To Being a Polyglot

In today’s connected world, it’s not unusual to come across an interesting website or news article in a foreign language. With LG G8XThinQ and Dual Screen, understanding another language is no longer a challenge with the built-in Whale browser. Simply tap on the Space Translator button and Whale shows the original and translated content side by side. LG Dual Screen makes it easy to look like a polyglot.

LG Files LTE Patent Infringement Lawsuits Against TCL

A Global Leader in LTE Patents, LG Takes Legal Action to
Prevent Unlicensed Use of Three Mobile Technologies

LG logo

SEOUL, Nov. 11, 2019 — LG Electronics (LG) this week filed lawsuits against TCL, a Chinese handset manufacturer, in the German district courts of Mannheim and Düsseldorf, for infringing its LTE technology patents.

The lawsuits allege that TCL knowingly implemented technologies in its handsets that infringe three of LG’s standard essential patents that cover key areas of LTE handsets: minimizing the loss of packet transmission, control timers for uplink synchronization and interference reduction in the uplink synchronizing process.

The suits against TCL were filed only after numerous attempts were made by LG to remedy its concerns, to no avail. LG has successfully asserted its extensive LTE patent portfolio on a number of occasions in the courts by legally challenging the unlawful use of its technologies. As a result of recent legal action, BLU agreed to a licensing deal with LG and a German trial court ruled in favor of LG in three separate litigations against Wiko.

Aggressive investment in research and development has resulted in LG becoming a global technological leader in the mobile communication market, possessing one of the largest portfolios of standard essential patents. According to TechIPm, a professional IP research and consulting firm, LG ranked first in 4G (LTE/LTE-A) patents every year from 2012 to 2016. Germany-based market intelligence company IPLytics lists LG as the owner of 11 percent of all 5G standard essential patents issued to date.

“LG has long invested heavily in LTE innovation and when it becomes necessary, we take action to protect these important assets,” said Jeon Saeng-gyu, executive vice president of LG’s Intellectual Property Center. “As a leader in LTE technology, we have a responsibility to ensure that competition in the industry takes place fairly and legally. These lawsuits are aimed at protecting our investments and challenging the unlawful use of our vital assets and to safeguard the competitiveness of the industry for future innovation.”

LG PuriCare Mini with PM1.0 Sensor Removes
Air Pollutants as Small as 0.3 Micrometers

SEOUL, Nov. 7, 2019 — With clean air a commodity in high demand today, LG Electronics (LG) announces the world’s first filter-type portable air purifier designed for use on-the-go. With an innovate PM1.0 Sensor, the compact and cord-free LG PuriCareTM Mini helps deliver safe, clean air in the car, a baby’s nursery or even one’s office.

With LG’s 4-Step Air Filtration System, LG PuriCare Mini can detect and remove 99 percent particulates as small as 0.3 μm.* The first step involves the PM1.0 Sensor which quickly and accurately detects the quality of the air before the Dual Inverter Motor forcibly draws in the air at 5,000rpm in the second step. In step three, the high-efficiency Total Allergen Removal filter removes particulates in the air and in the final step, the powerful Twin Tornado Dual Fan disperses the clean air far and wide. The LG PuriCare Mini is not only highly efficient, it’s also fast, cleaning 50 percent of the air inside a car in 10 minutes.**

LG PuriCare Mini can go anywhere the user goes thanks to its small size and light weight, which make it ideal for use on the go where plug-in models can’t go. Similar in size and weight as a 500 milliliter bottle of water, the wireless portable air purifier freshens the air for up to 8 hours at low speed or 2 hours at the highest setting on battery power alone. And its quiet operation – only 30dB in low setting – allows the LG PuriCare Mini to be used in an enclosed stroller without waking a peacefully sleeping baby.

PuriCare Mini utlizes a durable filter which lasts up to 2,000 hours or six months if used 12 hours a day. The free LG ThinQ app for both Android and iOS devices allows users to monitor the condition of the filter, check the battery status and control their LG PuriCare Mini via Bluetooth with a smartphone or tablet.

“Providing useful technology in a form factor that goes where our customers go – this is what LG PuriCare Mini is all about,” said Song Dae-hyun, president of LG Electronics Home Appliance & Air Solution Company. “There is nothing more important than the health of one’s family and LG is committed to using its engineering know-how to deliver innovative solutions.”

LG PuriCare Mini will become available in key markets of Asia, North America throughout the next several weeks into 2019.
