LG V30 TO ELEVATE SMARTPHONE CAMERA TO NEW HEIGHTS

Largest Aperture Smartphone Camera and Glass Crystal Clear Lens
Deliver Brighter, More Vivid Images Than Ever Before

A graphic comparing conventional smartphone camera lens with the F1.6 aperture LG Crystal Clear Lens, which will be incorporated in the LG V30

SEOUL, Aug. 10, 2017 — LG Electronics (LG) will incorporate an F1.6 aperture camera and glass lens in the dual camera of its upcoming V30 flagship smartphone, introducing industry-leading innovations that bring a new level of photographic innovation to the mobile industry.

Excellence in smartphone cameras has long been a core competency of LG’s mobile devices and the dual camera module in the upcoming LG V30 will include the world’s largest aperture and clearest lens ever to be featured in a smartphone. LG’s first F1.6 lens is also the largest aperture among existing smartphone cameras, delivering 25 percent more light to the sensor compared to an F1.8 lens. The glass Crystal Clear Lens also delivers greater light-collecting ability than a plastic lens as well as better color reproduction. This makes the V30 particularly well suited for photography and videography.

“LG boasts an unrivaled heritage in smartphone photography and our decision to adopt glass in the V30 camera is specifically because this has traditionally been the realm of DSLRs,” said Juno Cho, president of LG Electronics Mobile Communications Company. “For the users for whom the V series was designed, this kind of innovation is significant.”

In all areas, the camera in the LG V30 is superior to the camera of its predecessor, let alone other smartphones. The camera in the V30 cuts edge distortion by a third compared to the V20 when capturing wide angle shots, making it ideal for group wefies, spacious interiors and expansive landscapes.

Even with all these improvements, the rear camera module of the LG V30 still manages to remain svelte, 30 percent smaller in size compared to the V20. Paired with LG’s specialized UX featuring laser detection AF, optical image stabilization and electronic image stabilization, shutterbugs will find the V30 as easy and convenient to use as its predecessor.

NEXT MAJOR SMARTPHONE FROM LG TO FEATURE FIRST-EVER OLED FULLVISION DISPLAY

LG Extends OLED Leadership Expertise from TVs to
Mobile Devices with Next Flagship Mobile Device

The bottom front view of LG’s first ever device to feature a plastic OLED FullVision display

SEOUL, Aug. 3, 2017 — The next flagship smartphone from LG Electronics (LG) will be the first ever device to feature a plastic OLED FullVision display, consistent with the company’s smartphone display strategy that started with the LG G6 and continues with the LG Q6. As LG’s first OLED smartphone since the LG G Flex 2 in 2015, the shift marks a move by LG to extend its OLED leadership from the premium TV sector into the premium smartphone space. Beyond their slim profile and excellent visuals, OLED displays in smartphones are ideal for VR applications, one of the key growth areas in the smartphone industry.

“Expertise in OLED has long been a core competency of LG, and the technology has always been seen as a potential value-add for smartphones,” said Juno Cho, president of LG Electronics Mobile Communications Company. “With competition in the global smartphone space fiercer now than ever, we felt that this was the right time to reintroduce OLED displays in our mobile products.”

With consumers seeking bigger displays but eschewing larger phones that are uncomfortable to hold in one hand, LG’s FullVision display is a key contributor in the trend toward minimized bezels in smartphones. OLED was simply the next evolution for FullVision displays, delivering incredible quality, vividness and clarity to smartphone visuals. At six inches, the OLED FullVision display will be LG’s largest in four years while the actual body will be smaller than last year’s LG V20. As the upper and lower bezels have been reduced by 20 and 50 percent when compared to the V20, the LG logo has been moved from the bottom of the display to the back of the phone to maximize viewable screen space.

The FullVision display’s immersive and expansive visual experience is enhanced on the 4.15 million pixels of the QHD+ (1440 x 2880) OLED screen. Superb image quality is achieved via emissive OLED technology which reproduces perfet black and colors with greater accuracy across a wider color spectrum.  By implementing optimal image algorithms gleaned from years of OLED research and development, visuals on this OLED display deliver 148 percent of the sRGB 1 color space for digital images and 109 percent of the DCI-P3 2 color space for digital cinema. Another intrinsic advantage of OLED technology is operational response time, which is tens of times faster than LCD. This accelerated response time effectively eliminates afterimages, an important consideration for action movies and VR. And with support for HDR10, watching compatible movies and videos on this display offers a whole new eye-opening experience.

And because the screen in the upcoming smartphone will be based on plastic OLED technology – also known as P-OLED – the edges can be curved to allow for a more ergonomic design and a better feel in the hand. P-OLED is created by placing pixels on a plastic substrate which is much stronger than a glass base. What’s more, the display is protected by Corning® Gorilla® Glass 5 that incorporates shatter-resistant technology. Most importantly, using advanced encapsulation and pixel-scanning technology, the burn-in problem that has affected OLED technology in the past has been all but eliminated in the P-OLED technology in LG’s upcoming device. Encapsulation significantly reduces oxidation of the pixels and LG’s pixel-scanning technology allows for less energy to be applied to each pixel, also saving battery power.

1   sRGB is the color space created by HP and Microsoft for use as a reference standard on monitors, printers and the internet since 1996.

2  DCI-P3 is a color space proposed by the Digital Cinema Initiative (DCI), a group led by major Hollywood movie studios, mainly used as a standard for measuring the richness and accuracy of color expressed in movies.

LG G6 MEETS UL 110 SUSTAINABILITY STANDARD, ACHIEVES EPEAT MOBILE PHONE REGISTRY LISTING

LG’s Leadership Role in New EPEAT Category
Spotlights Company’s Commitment to Environmental Sustainability

The ECOLOGO Certification to the ANSI-accredited UL 110 Standard for Sustainability for Mobile Phones.

ENGLEWOOD CLIFFS, N.J., July 31, 2017 — The flagship LG G6 smartphone from LG Electronics has achieved the ECOLOGO Certification to the ANSI-accredited UL 110 Standard for Sustainability for Mobile Phones. It is being listed today on the new online registry for EPEAT, the leading global eco-label for the IT sector.

The Green Electronics Council today launched the new mobile phone category for EPEAT, which provides government and business purchasers an easy way to identify and compare high-performance, more-sustainable mobile phones. The UL 110 Standard for Sustainability for Mobile Phones is a multi-attribute sustainability standard that evaluates a mobile phone’s compliance with stringent environmental performance criteria throughout its lifecycle.

“By choosing a sustainable smartphone like the LG G6, purchasers are choosing to help alleviate e-waste, decrease the use of toxic substances, improve device packaging, avoid conflict minerals, support fair labor practices, and more,” said Nancy Gillis, CEO of the Green Electronics Council. “Increasingly, institutional IT purchasers are including mobile services as part of their sustainable procurements, and one way for wireless carriers to distinguish their services as sustainable is by offering sustainable devices.”

LG’s leadership role in the new EPEAT mobile phone category spotlights the company’s commitment to environmental sustainability. Like other EPEAT categories, the mobile phone category address all stages of a product’s lifecycle, from design and manufacture to use and end of life. The EPEAT mobile phone category’s criteria are based on the stringent UL 110 Standard for Sustainability for Mobile Phones.

One of the first smartphones in the industry to achieve EPEAT registration, the popular LG G6 smartphone features a bold new display format complemented by a cinematic viewing experience, exceptional screen to body ratio, wide angle camera and more. Designed in response to consumer feedback and user opinions, the LG G6 is a back-to-basics approach to premium smartphones, with a focus on the features consumers want, most notably a big screen that actually fits in one hand.

LG Q6 INTRODUCES FULLVISION EXPERIENCE TO MORE CONSUMERS IN AUGUST

First Phone to Offer Minimized-Bezel FullVision Display at Mid-Range Price Point

A person taking a picture with the LG Q6 of a band performing

SEOUL, July 31, 2017 — LG Electronics’ (LG) newest smartphone featuring the proprietary FullVision display will become available to consumers around the world starting this week. The LG Q6, designed to meet the needs and expectations of discerning millennial customers worldwide, will be available this week in Korea, soon to be followed by key markets in Asia, Europe, Middle East and the Americas in the weeks to come.

The Q6 is the first model in LG’s new Q series of smartphones and was designed for consumers who want a device that offers the technology of LG’s flagship smartphones at an exceptional price that discerning millennials can appreciate. The Q6 shares DNA with the award-winning G6, the first smartphone to offer LG’s FullVision display. With FullVision, LG is able to offer a large screen in a phone that can be used comfortably with one hand, one of the biggest challenges facing smartphone design this decade.

The standout feature of the LG Q6 is its 5.5-inch FHD+ Full Vision display. Not only does this unique display offer maximum space, it also allows for easy multitasking as the screen can be divided into two perfectly square windows, viewable either vertically or horizontally. Square Camera Mode enables the merging of two images into one and the creation of square grid collages – popular with social media fans.

Durability is another of this smartphone’s key features. Its metal frame is constructed of 7000 series aluminum – a strong alloy commonly used in the aerospace and marine industries – with rounded corners to dissipate impact energy when dropped. The LG Q6 was designed with MIL-STD 810G in mind, a standard that tests and measures devices for their reaction to temperature extremes, rain, humidity, sand and dust to determine their suitability for use by the United States military. The battery in the Q6 is also subjected to extra harsh testing process, more demanding than international standards. And to disperse heat most effectively, a thermal pad cooling system is incorporated in the interior and key components are placed far from one another to minimize internal heating.

“We designed the Q series based on extensive research into what millennials want from their smartphones,” said Juno Cho, president of LG Electronics Mobile Communications Company. “The LG Q6 delivers the key features of our flagship smartphones at an exceptional price that will appeal to young consumers world over.”

Pricing and exact date of availability will be announced locally in each market.

LG ELECTRONICS ANNOUNCES SECOND-QUARTER 2017 FINANCIAL RESULTS

LG Home Appliance and Air Solution Company Again Leads All Business Units;
Overall Profitability and Revenues Up Despite Challenging Quarter for Mobiles

A picture of LG Twin Towers in the daytime

SEOUL, July 27, 2017 ― LG Electronics Inc. (LG) today announced second-quarter 2017 revenues of KRW 14.55 trillion (USD 12.89 billion), an increase of nearly 4 percent from the same period last year, led by the home appliance unit, which reported a 12 percent sales increase from the 2016 second quarter. Three of the company’s four main business units reported higher revenues than a year ago. Quarterly operating income of KRW 664.1 billion (USD 588.2 million) was 13.6 percent higher in 2017, despite a challenging quarter for the mobile business.

The LG Home Appliance & Air Solution Company accounted for the largest share of the second quarter’s revenue and operating income, KRW 5.25 trillion (USD 4.65 billion) and KRW 465.7 billion (USD 412.5 million) respectively. Among second-quarter highlights were strong sales in the Korean market, up 43 percent from the April-June period in 2016. J.D. Power just announced that “LG received more 2017 customer satisfaction awards for Kitchen and Laundry Appliances than any other manufacturer.” * The business unit expects to see growing demand in North America, Europe and Asia while premium home appliances such as InstaView refrigerators and TWINWash washing machines are expected to contribute strong margins.

The LG Home Entertainment Company recorded KRW 343 billion (USD 303.80 million) in operating profit on revenues of KRW 4.23 trillion (USD 3.75 billion), a 2 percent increase from the 2016 second quarter despite the declining worldwide demand for TVs. Strong second-quarter sales of premium TV products, such as LG OLED TVs and LG SUPER UHD TVs, coupled with improved cost management, resulted in a solid 8.1 percent operating profit margin. Premium TV sales are expected to remain strong for LG in the third quarter.

The LG Mobile Communications Company saw a challenging second quarter with revenues of KRW 2.70 trillion (USD 2.39 billion) and an operating loss of KRW 132.4 billion (USD 117.27 million), nearly unchanged from the same period a year ago primarily due to weaker than expected premium smartphone sales and increase in component costs. The North American market remained strong, contributing a 13 percent increase in sales compared to the same period last year thanks to strong performance of the company’s mass-tier lineup. The introduction of the new Q series and the rollout of a new high-end device in the weeks ahead are expected to bolster the company’s performance in the second half of 2017.

The LG Vehicle Components Company continued its strong growth with second-quarter sales of KRW 882.6 billion (USD 781.7 million), an increase of 38 percent from the same period in 2016, in large part due to the success of its telematics business and components for the recently-launched Chevrolet Bolt electric vehicle in the United States.  Ongoing investments in new business areas such as advanced driving assistance systems (ADAS), resulted in an operating loss of KRW 16.4 billion (USD 14.5 million) for the quarter. Those investments are beginning to bear fruit; LG just announced its first ADAS camera partnership with a leading German automaker. The market for smart electric vehicle components is expected to see strong growth in the second half of the year, reflecting wider availability of the Chevrolet Bolt in North America and growth of other electric vehicles in Europe.

2017 2Q Exchange Rates Explained

LG Q8: NEW Q STYLE MULTIMEDIA POWERHOUSE IN A COMPACT PACKAGE

Capture Life in Striking Quality with the Industry’s Best
Visual and Audio Features in a Durable IP67 Device

The front and rear view of the LG Q8 in Urban Titan

SEOUL, July 24, 2017 — LG Electronics (LG) today announced the arrival of the new Q8, LG’s latest powerful, stylish and durable smartphone that inherits core features from LG’s flagship lineup – in particular the “prosumer” V series – but designed for one-handed usage and extreme portability. As the second device announced in LG’s newest Q series, the Q8 delivers Hi-Fi sound, prosumer quality video and photo capabilities and water and dust resistance in a compact package.

The Q8 builds on LG’s powerful heritage in photography and videography, with features such as Steady Record 2.0 for smooth, judder-free video recording. Like many of LG’s high-end smartphones, the Q8 incorporates dual lenses on the back to capture broad interiors and sweeping vistas as well as a wide angle camera on the front for truly breathtaking wefies. With a 120-degree wide angle lens and 83-degree standard lens up front and a 135-degree wide angle, 78-degree standard lens on the back, the LG Q8 is truly a shutterbug’s dream come true.

LG Q8 takes audio to the next level with Hi-Fi Recording which utilizes two high AOP (Acoustic Overload Point) microphones to minimize crowd and background noise when recording outdoor events. Audio files are saved in 24-bit / 48 kHz LPCM (Linear Pulse Code Modulation) format – the same format used in the movie industry. As one of the first smartphone manufacturer to offer manual video mode in its devices, LG bestowed the Q8 with the ability to tweak every aspect of the recording process.

The Q8 raises the ante in smartphone audio with Hi-Fi Quad DAC from ESS Technology, a world leader in high-performance audio products. The Quad DAC in the LG Q8 cuts white noise by 50 percent and up-samples music files to Hi-Fi quality to deliver crisp, lush sound uncharacteristic of smartphone audio systems. And the HD Audio Recorder captures studio-quality audio via 24-bit / 192 kHz in lossless FLAC format. For customers who want complete control over the audio recording experience, Studio Mode in the phone’s HD Audio Recorder was designed with exactly such users in mind.

The customizable always-on Second Screen on top of the main display offers users a handy shortcut to contacts, tools and apps. For gaming aficionados, the next-generation, Vulkan-compatible 3D graphics engine brings the most powerful and resource-hungry mobile games to life in vibrant colors.

What’s more, LG Q8 boasts water and dust resistance, just in time for summer. Rated IP67, it can be safely immersed in up to one meter of water for up to 30 minutes, meaning that the Q8 will resist splashes, drops on the beach and other possible hazards. The phone is protected by a metal frame with rounded corners that absorbs the majority of shocks and vibration.

“The LG Q8 is a welcome member to our newest Q line of smartphones that addresses the needs of customers who want the best content creation device without paying for extra features they don’t want or need,” said Juno Cho, president of LG Electronics Mobile Communications Company. “The Q8 gets much of its DNA from past V devices but is designed for one-handed use and ease of portability.”

The LG Q8 will initially be available in key European markets starting this week followed by markets in Asia next month.

LG AIRPORT ROBOTS TAKE OVER KOREA’S LARGEST AIRPORT

LG Robots to Deliver Expert Service for Visitors to Korea

A man checking in at the airport with the help of the LG Airport Guide Robot.

SEOUL, July 21, 2017 — As South Korea prepares for the largest winter sporting event in its history, LG Electronics (LG) is focusing on improving automated services at the main hub for the world’s travelers – Incheon International Airport (IIA). Starting on July 21, LG will put into trial service a number of Airport Guide Robots and Airport Cleaning Robots at the award-winning airport to assist travelers arriving and departing Korea. The Airport Guide Robot will roam the airport providing information and assistance to visitors while the Airport Cleaning Robot will be on hand to keep the floors impeccably clean.

By dispatching its robots to one of the largest and busiest airports in the world, LG will be able to provide its robotic services to approximately 57 million travelers who pass through the airport every year. While the robots are officially going into trial service today, they have been a familiar presence to frequent travelers since February, when they began beta testing at IIA. LG engineers have been fine tuning the robots for the past five months, improving their performance based on the data and experience collected during the beta test.

Equipped with LG’s voice recognition platform, the Airport Guide Robot understands four different languages – Korean, English, Chinese, and Japanese – the four most popular languages spoken at the airport, in order to provide assistance verbally. The robot can connect to the airport’s central server to provide information regarding boarding time and locations of restaurants, shops, and much more. With a quick scan of a boarding pass, the Airport Guide Robot can escort the late or lost traveler to the right departure gate on time.

The Airport Cleaning Robot takes LG HOM-BOT’s powerful cleaning performance, autonomous navigation, and object-avoidance capability and applies them to a commercial, public environment. This robot detects the areas that require the most frequent cleaning, stores those locations in its database and calculates the most efficient routes to get there.

With these airport robots, LG is demonstrating its initiative to develop and expand its commercial robot business as a future growth engine. Currently, LG’s robot business is divided into two sectors: home and commercial. LG’s home robots include the HOM-BOT vacuum cleaner and the new Hub Robot while LG’s commercial business consists of robots specially designed to provide services in public areas such as airports, hotels and banks.

“LG is dedicated to the advancement and development of its robot technologies which includes navigation, voice recognition, natural language processing, and of course, DeepThinQ,” said Song Dae-hyun, president of LG Electronics Home Appliance & Air Solutions Company. “It is this kind of effort and innovation that will drive LG forward in the Fourth Industrial Revolution.”

LG HOM-BOT® INTELLIGENCE RATED HIGHEST BY ROBOTICS LAB

Exhibits “Child-Level” Intelligence, Top Among Competitors

LG HOM-BOT Turbo+ navigating its way under two chairs

SEOUL, July 18, 2017 — LG Electronics revolutionized the vacuum cleaner industry 16 years ago with the commercialization of one of the world’s first robotic vacuum cleaners. LG engineers took advantage of the head start and years of home appliance robotics experience to develop this year’s HOM-BOT® Turbo+, which was just recognized by Seoul National University (SNU) Robotics & Intelligent Systems Lab, the robotics program in the nation’s top university, as the most human-like robotic vacuum cleaner in the industry.

Artificial intelligence, or AI, which is at the core of all of today’s advanced robots, has many definitions, one of them being the ability to learn from experience. Robots, contrary to science fiction and Hollywood, do not need to be intelligent but they must be machines capable of performing some type of work. Most of today’s best robotic vacuum cleaners have the ability to learn. However, not all robot vacuums learn at the same cognitive level, according to the SNU Robotics Lab results.

The university tested robot vacuum cleaners from leading manufacturers to measure their intelligence in the three areas of perception, judgment and action and classified the results into one of three levels of intelligence. The HOM-BOT Turbo+ earned the highest marks, a level the testers labeled Child (the others being Ape and Dolphin) because the SNU Robotics Lab equated the learning ability of the HOM-BOT Turbo+ to that of a six- or seven-year-old adolescent. By utilizing the convolutional neural network (CNN) technique LG engineers are able to give the robot the ability to distinguish between a human and a dog by analyzing stored image data. The LG robot vacuum’s acuity of perception and judgment – two of the core facets of a high performing AI – improved significantly with the incorporation of LG DeepThinQ™ technology in the latest model, rising from Ape level two years prior.

What separates LG HOM-BOT Turbo+ with DeepThinQ from competing models is its ability to not only recognize obstacles and chart the most efficient course around the home, but its ability to allow for human intervention. For example, when the vacuum comes across a human, it waits for a brief moment to allow the individual time to move out of the way. However, for furniture and other immobile obstructions, the LG robot vacuum knows not to wait and simply goes around and continues cleaning. It’s this kind of analysis which SNU Robotics Lab found to be unique and noteworthy in the category.

“At LG we take tremendous pride in developing not only the best appliances but the smartest appliances as well,” said Song Dae-hyun, president of LG Electronics Home Appliance & Air Solutions Company. “And what we’ve learned in the home is also being applied to our newest robots outside the home, such as our Airport Robot, which will be going into service later this month at Incheon International Airport.”

LG Q6 BRINGS FULLVISION DISPLAY TO NEW SMARTPHONE LINEUP

LG’s Newest Q Series Brings the Essential Features of LG’s
Premium Devices and Elegant Design to a Mid-Range Portfolio

The front and back view of the LG Q6 in Astro Black, Ice Platinum, Terra Gold and Mystic White, the LG Q6+ in Ice Platinum, Astro Black and Marine Blue and the LG Q6α in Astro Black, Ice Platinum and Terra Gold

SEOUL, July 11, 2017 — LG (Electronics) today announced that the LG Q6, part of its new Q series, will be the first smartphone to offer the FullVision display following the LG G6. The Q series offers many of LG’s most sought-out premium features at a competitive price.

LG’s Q series is the company’s latest line of powerful, mid-range smartphones boasting the essential features of LG premium phones at exceptional price points. As the first in the Q series to be announced, the LG Q6 features some of the most desired innovations from LG’s premium G6 smartphone and packages them in a sleek, stunning body highlighted by its FullVision display with minimized bezels. The Q6 family consists of the Q6+, Q6 and Q6α. The three variants cater to different user groups in terms of memory and storage: the Q6+ comes with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of ROM, the base Q6 delivers 3GB of RAM and 32GB of storage and the most affordably-priced Q6α comes with 2GB RAM and 16GB of ROM.

At a time when minimized bezels are an emerging trend in premium smartphones, the Q6 is the first smartphone in the mid-price category to bring this feature to the masses. The unique 5.5-inch FHD+ FullVision display in the LG Q6 with its 18:9 aspect ratio makes video browsing, gaming and multi-tasking more immersive. The smartphone’s “bezel-less” form factor was designed to maximize the screen while still preventing accidental touching of the screen when being held.

And the LG Q6 looks good with its minimalist and sleek design. With no unsightly camera bump and sleek appearance, the Q6 features attractive curves with rounded corners of the body matching the corners of the display. Packaged in a stylish metallic frame, the Q6 manages to be both lightweight and sturdy for a more durable day-to-day usage experience.

And not only does the Q6 look good, it is extremely easy to use. Benefiting from ergonomic research during the development of the LG G6, the Q6 is also comfortable to hold and use with one hand. In another nod to user convenience, LG’s proprietary Face Recognition feature allows owners to unlock the Q6 faster and with less hassle than other facial recognition technologies currently available.

As expected, the LG Q6 carries on LG’s heritage of excellence in optics. The smartphone incorporates a 100-degree wide angle selfie camera that allows shutterbugs to include a large group of friends and family in the shot without effort. The camera’s improved LG UX 6.0 takes full advantage of the 18:9 aspect ratio of the FullVision display. Square Camera Mode makes it easy to “share your squares” or create photo collages using multiple square images.

The LG Q6 is also quite durable. The metal frame surrounding the Q6 is constructed of ultra-strong 7000 series aluminum, one of the highest strength aluminum alloys available and used extensively in industries such as aerospace. The device is subjected to LG’s demanding regimen of over 20 battery tests which include heat, penetration and shock, conditions more stringent than international testing protocols.

“The LG Q6 is a blend of premium features, great performance and attractive pricing, a combination that is extremely important to us as we look at the way consumers are using smartphones around the world,” said Juno Cho, president of LG Electronics Mobile Communications Company. “The Q series is our way of getting the superb experiences with the essence of the LG’s premium lineup to more consumers’ hands and pockets.”

The LG Q6 will go on sale in key markets in Asia starting next month to be followed by availability in Europe, Latin America and North America onward.

LG to Supply Next Generation ADAS Cameras to Premium German Automaker

LG’s Vehicle Components Business Sees Big Growth Ahead in Automotive AI

LG Vehicle component’s Lane Departure Warning, High Beam Assist, Speed Limit Indication, Forwards Collision Warning, Automatic Emergency Braking, Adaptive Cruise Control and Traffic Jam Assist.

SEOUL, June 29, 2017 — LG Electronics (LG) has been selected by a premium German automaker to supply ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems) camera modules and related software for the company’s next generation vehicles.

The LG-designed ADAS camera is capable of collecting traffic information to help drivers make better decisions and increase safety on the road. It can accurately recognize and respond to surrounding environments – even at busy intersections – using the camera. As a key component of an overall smart car system, the LG camera can detect objects from a distance and apply Autonomous Emergency Braking if a collision is imminent. The camera can also help keep the car in the lane with Lane Keeping Assist technology as well as at a safe distance from other vehicles. Traffic Sign Recognition and High Beam Assist are other advanced features of the LG ADAS camera.

LG’s ADAS camera benefits from years of innovation and technological knowledge gleaned from the company’s leadership in mobile communications, image recognition and connectivity. LG announced earlier this year that artificial intelligence and deep learning technology will be a priority in the company’s strategy going forward.

“This is the kind of partnership we envisioned when we established the LG Vehicle Component Company four years ago,” said Lee Woo-jong, president of the Vehicle Components Company of LG Electronics. “Partnerships like these will help us realize the ultimate goal of bringing decades of LG innovation and know-how from the home into the automobile.”

ENJOY YOUR LG G6 TO THE MAXIMUM: THE CAMERA

The LG G6 is a premium smartphone that takes user convenience to the next level. Given the phone’s wide range of user-friendly functions, this is the second in a series of articles that will help G6 owners discover handy features that might have been overlooked.

The LG G6 incorporates wide angle cameras – a specialty of LG smartphones – on both its front and rear. These cameras are enhanced with host of features in the UX that make the G6 a shutterbug’s dream when it comes to simplicity and ease of use.

Among these features is camera roll, which makes reviewing shots incredibly fast and convenient and a signature feature which imprints your name or anything you want onto your photos for posting to social media sites. What’s more, a GIF creation function turns burst shots and videos into social media-friendly GIF files and the G6 makes adjusting the brightness of every image or scene you wish to capture incredibly easy with just one finger.

1. Previewing Shots Made Even Simpler with Camera Roll

The standard shooting mode of the LG G6 shows photos that take up the entire FullVision display. But if you activate camera roll on the camera app, thumbnails of shots appear along the edge of the screen in a filmstrip view whether the G6 is held vertically or horizontally. Tapping on a thumbnail enlarges the image for immediate sharing.
